Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday 2004-06-02 – Post Number 469

Ciao bella! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Milan, my weekly blog from the fabulous city of fashion, where the trams are as stylish as the shop windows! Today I’m absolutely bursting with excitement to share my adventures with you all. This is post number 469 – how the time flies! As always, you can catch up on all my blog posts on www.pink-tutu.com.

You see, dear readers, I’ve just returned from a trip back home to Derbyshire, England! It was a whirlwind visit, packed with family, friends, and, of course, a spot of ballet. (Because, you know, a ballerina never really goes off duty!)

The journey itself was a right treat. I decided to ditch the plane for a romantic, old-fashioned train ride. Something about chugging across the countryside in a plush carriage always makes me feel so wonderfully bohemian! The scenery just whizzed past, and I got a chance to jot down a few blog ideas for you.

While in the UK, I had the honour of being a guest at the Royal Opera House. Can you imagine? They treated me like a real princess! And the performance – oh my goodness, a true spectacle of the highest caliber. I could almost hear my inner ballerina tut-tutting along to the music. They even let me have a sneak peek at their incredible costume archive. Can you guess what I spotted? A dusty, yet beautifully preserved, pink tutu. Talk about a stroke of luck!

After the show, I was lucky enough to be invited backstage to chat with a few dancers. Turns out, they’re huge fans of Pink Tutu Milan, which really filled my tutu with pride! It’s so encouraging to see my little blog reach people beyond Milan. They’re so passionate, and it just reminds me of how incredible this art form is.

Derbyshire itself is just brimming with beauty. We strolled through stunning gardens, visited ancient ruins, and devoured the most delicious Derbyshire oatcakes. (I just can’t seem to escape the pink, even in my food choices. There was this quaint café tucked away down a cobbled alleyway, and they had these delightful pink-frosted cupcakes, and let’s be honest, it’s all about the frosting!) Of course, every moment of my visit was meticulously documented, so keep an eye out for some upcoming snaps on the Pink Tutu Instagram. My little followers love seeing behind the scenes and seeing what fabulous outfits I’m putting together!

Now, back in Milan, my love of pink, tutus, and ballet knows no bounds. This Wednesday morning was no different. First things first, a stop for a steaming espresso and a buttery brioche at my favourite cafe. After all, what is fashion without the perfect croissant?

This afternoon, I'm going to indulge in some retail therapy. The shopping in Milan is simply heavenly, and I can’t wait to stock up on some stylish summer pieces! My absolute favourite boutique just reopened after a revamp and the window display is nothing short of a masterpiece. A whole ensemble dedicated to ballet – how can you not feel inspired? And if you're anything like me, a good dose of Milanese style is sure to give you a healthy dose of "fashion inspiration." You can always rely on the Milanese ladies for effortlessly chic outfits, especially when it comes to accessories. I even spotted a group of friends, all dressed head-to-toe in shades of pink, it was quite the sight!

One of the things I love most about living in Milan is the access I have to the local dance scene. Every Wednesday, a beautiful little ballet company called Teatro alla Scala, just around the corner from my apartment, runs these lovely open classes. I just adore joining in and seeing the graceful moves and beautifully formed poses of my fellow dancers. Of course, a little ballet warm-up session never hurt anyone, it helps to keep my ballerina legs looking their best. And for tonight, there’s a ballet street performance down in the park. They’re putting on a delightful little rendition of Swan Lake – how could I resist? They usually use an impromptu set up. It’s certainly not the Royal Opera House, but the raw emotion and the authentic experience make it one of my favourite Milan traditions.

And of course, no day in Milan would be complete without a delightful tram ride. I am completely obsessed with Milan’s tram network! These beautiful carriages take you across the city, whisking you through charming cobbled streets and grand squares. Plus, they always offer up the perfect photo opportunity for Pink Tutu Milan! And you simply can’t beat the tram for seeing the locals go about their day. I absolutely love watching their fashion, their personalities, and their stories unfold! It’s like watching a slow-motion ballet!

Now, dear readers, you may be thinking, "Emma, how do you manage to travel so much?" Well, it’s no secret – I earn my travels through the magic of ballet! You might spot me performing in a delightful Parisian bistro, sharing a stage with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, or perhaps a one-off guest performance in my favourite village hall back in Derbyshire! Believe it or not, ballet is a fantastic way to see the world! Every performance takes me closer to my life's goal: to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu! It's like a pink tutu fairy tale – we just need to convince everyone to join in and spread the joy!

And on that note, dear readers, I bid you adieu for now. Until next Monday, when I'll be back with another juicy Milan blog. Keep your eyes peeled for those fashion finds and snaps from the upcoming street performance. And as always, be sure to let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see on Pink Tutu Milan!

Yours in Pink,

Emma.
