Pink Tutu Milan #483: Wednesday 8th September 2004 - Ciao Bella, Milan!

Buongiorno, darlings!

It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, writing to you live from the heart of Milan! As always, I'm filled with a giddy excitement that can only be described as a 'pink tutu pirouette' - because who doesn't love Milan, right?! The city truly is a fashion dream come true, and let's be honest, this tutu is certainly ready to twirl!

Today was an absolute whirlwind! I started my day with a breakfast of croissants and strong Italian coffee (no milk for this ballerina!), all while enjoying the buzz of the city waking up around me. I swear, you can practically smell the glamour in the air!

My morning was spent browsing the legendary Quadrilatero della Moda - oh, the joys of Italian fashion! From Armani to Prada, this district is a fashionista's paradise. I, of course, couldn't resist snagging a few pieces - a beautiful coral silk scarf for those upcoming chilly nights and a pair of fabulous leopard print pumps that are practically begging for a trip to the theatre.

But fashion isn't everything, darlings! In the afternoon, I found myself on a delightful journey aboard the Milan tram. These little yellow beauties are so charming! I simply adore the gentle rumble and the view of the city rushing past, especially in a stunning outfit like this – a beautiful pale pink tulle skirt with a white lace top. I have to admit, even the grumpy old Italian gentlemen sitting across from me couldn't help but smile at my whimsical fashion choice.

My journey took me to Teatro alla Scala - a place where I felt a shiver of excitement run down my spine! Tonight was an extra special night, a performance of the legendary Swan Lake starring the sublime ballerina, Natalia Makarova. Can you even imagine? The sheer joy and artistry were overwhelming!

To celebrate, I treated myself to a delectable gelato. I can't resist a scoop (or three!) of gelato in the evening, especially in Italy. I find the perfect combination of gelato flavours just like finding the perfect ballet shoes. There’s a certain synergy!

But of course, my Milanese adventure wasn’t over. I found myself wandering through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – an elegant arcade filled with boutiques and cafes. And let's just say, there wasn't a tutu in sight! Which begs the question... will Milan ever see the pink tutu revolution? We shall see.

On my To-Do List Tomorrow:

  • A trip to the Pinacoteca di Brera, home to some stunning Renaissance art (including some beautiful pink clothing! How’s that for foreshadowing?).
  • Lunch with a fellow ballerina who's been living here in Milan. Maybe we'll even find a dance studio together for a spot of impromptu pirouettes.
  • More shopping – yes, there’s no shame in my obsession!

Stay tuned for more Milan magic! As always, send your thoughts, suggestions, and questions over to pink-tutu.com! Ciao Bella!

P.S. For those wondering about the latest pink tutu sightings… there's a darling little cafe near the Duomo with a pink and white awning. It almost looks like it's beckoning me to twirl. Stay tuned, dear readers, for my full report on my Parisian adventures!
