Pink Tutu Milan - #513: Ciao Bella! Milan, Fashion, and a Pink Tutu Dream 🩰✨

Buongiorno, my darlings! It's Wednesday, 6th April 2005, and I'm back in Milan, the fashion capital of the world! This week I'm going to tell you about a simply magical time I'm having here - exploring the city's cultural side, being inspired by some of the best fashion, and of course, indulging in some serious ballet. This blog is a little bit of everything - a sprinkle of pink, a touch of romance, a splash of style, and all the joy of dancing.

As I said, this is my favourite city - such energy, such vibrance, such fabulousness! I'm staying in this beautiful hotel near Piazza del Duomo, surrounded by stunning architecture, shops, and cafes that beckon you in with the promise of a cappuccino and a sweet pastry. And oh, the shopping! You can’t get a better spot for some serious retail therapy - this city is overflowing with chic boutiques and designer stores, ready to unleash your inner fashionista! I must admit, I'm quite partial to a pair of high-heeled shoes and a silk scarf – I mean, it's Milan! You can't help but fall for its charm and allure, especially when there’s an exquisite pink tutu waiting for you in every window!

Speaking of pink tutus, you wouldn’t believe what happened! I was wandering around a vintage shop in the Navigli district - think canals, cobbled streets, and old stone buildings, a beautiful spot! I was about to enter when I caught a flash of the most beautiful pink I've ever seen! This gorgeous vintage tulle tutu was just hanging there, like it was calling my name! It had delicate sequins, intricate patterns, and a flow that seemed to whisper stories of the ballerinas who wore it before. It was almost a perfect match to my new pink clutch bag – pink is, after all, my colour, a perfect embodiment of joy and happiness! Of course, I couldn't resist and snagged it instantly – it felt destined to be mine, a true find for my little ballet wardrobe!

After my shopping spree, I treated myself to a delicious meal of fresh pasta at this tiny family-run restaurant near the Duomo. It was packed full of locals, and they were all so incredibly friendly! As a bonus, they even had the best Italian red wine – what more could you ask for?!

Thursday - The Magic of Teatro alla Scala

Thursday morning started with a little workout – I just have to keep my legs strong and limber, right? I even practised my pirouettes, which can be quite the workout in themselves! Afterward, I put on a little outfit from my “vintage chic” collection. You'll understand when you see the pics – I’ll post them online as soon as I can – and went on a wander, ending up at this hidden gem in Milan.

[Insert an exciting image here – think something that exudes elegance, fashion, and sophistication with the perfect touch of pink!]

Okay, here it is, darlings: the Teatro alla Scala! It’s a breathtaking palace of beauty and elegance, with a history of magnificent operatic performances and renowned ballets. I felt an overwhelming sense of magic when I entered the auditorium. Everything from the ornate carvings to the velvety seats screamed "Grandiose" – it truly transported you back in time. This incredible building has hosted the world’s biggest opera and ballet stars, and now, it’s one of the things I'm most excited about for this trip. They’re performing "Giselle," and I can’t wait!

The performances started late in the afternoon and were absolutely divine! The choreography was breathtaking, with its elegant lines and incredible athleticism. You could feel the raw emotion, the story that was being woven together on the stage, and it was magical. As a ballet enthusiast, seeing "Giselle" in such a prestigious location was a true dream. It just furthered my conviction that ballet should be more accessible – not only to the rich and the elite. Every person should experience the magic that ballet brings.

Friday - Milan's "Bellezze" – Beauty & Beauty Shops

Today was about beauty and shopping, exploring the beautiful “bellezze” (meaning “beauties” in Italian, how adorable is that?) of Milan. The shops are all dazzling, filled with beautiful clothing, accessories, and of course, shoes! Who can resist a classic Italian leather pump or a handcrafted pair of handmade ballerinas? But there were so many more delights! I fell head over heels for this vintage perfume shop. I couldn't resist picking up some amazing fragrance for my Mum and myself – what’s more stylish than a beautifully presented, vintage scent, right?

But there was a little part of me longing for the elegance and history of ballet again. I was ready to feel the joy of watching ballet stars dance in their dazzling costumes and captivating performances. So, in the evening, I planned a delightful treat: "Le Stelle del Balletto," which means “Stars of Ballet.” This was an evening performance held in the Sala degli Specchi – a space filled with mirrors and gorgeous décor! I’ll tell you more about it in the next post.

Saturday - Tram rides & Street Art

Saturday was the day to truly explore this city’s vibrant soul! I rode the tram across the city – how beautiful and convenient it is to travel on those old, vintage tramways – I felt a strong sense of nostalgia for an age of grace and sophistication. But you can also feel a pulse of the present in this amazing city, with trendy cafes, stunning art galleries, and the most charming little bookshops you’ll ever see. I loved walking around, people-watching, and appreciating the fascinating blend of styles that made up Milan's heart.

Milan has a special place in my heart when it comes to art. As I strolled through the city, I noticed murals, paintings, and art installations scattered throughout. There were pop-art murals on the sides of buildings – vibrant and playful – and intricate chalk drawings on the pavements. There is this incredible energy, with so much beauty in the little details – Milan truly inspires creativity!

As dusk fell, I settled on the terrace of this tiny Italian bar – all cobbled streets, twinkling lights, and music from the nearby restaurants. As the last rays of light painted the sky, it truly felt magical and romantic. I sipped my favourite cocktail – I have to have a good cocktail – and watched as the city turned into a colourful, pulsing night-life haven! It truly was a wonderful evening!

Sunday - "Il Teatro della Rosa" – An Extraordinary Find

I am in awe of this city! It’s simply a haven for anything related to the arts, which made Sunday a fantastic day for a little ballet inspiration.

Today was all about getting that adrenaline going! In the afternoon, I discovered this place called “Il Teatro della Rosa” – the “Rose Theater”! How could you resist such a magical name? This wonderful little theater nestled in the city’s old centre and had this enchanting energy about it. It’s a smaller theatre but bursting with personality, with antique wooden benches and colourful curtains! I truly felt that it embodied the charm of a small, intimate theater and really enhanced the magic of performance.

And the ballet? An amazing fusion of traditional ballet technique and modern styles - full of passionate stories and mesmerizing movement. It really felt like a love letter to all things creative. There’s nothing quite like watching dancers leap and spin across the stage, telling stories without words - it's truly magical. What was great is that it brought the stories of different cultures to life. The dances reflected the beautiful diversity of artistic expression around the world, from delicate Japanese movements to powerful South American traditions, even classical styles. It truly was an inspiring spectacle.

I took many photos – which, by the way, are available on the www.pink-tutu.com website. Do check them out! It felt special to have found this secret, precious treasure, just waiting for someone to uncover its magic. The audience at “Il Teatro della Rosa” was full of life, laughter, and genuine appreciation – which made for such a joyful and authentic atmosphere. If you’re in Milan, be sure to check it out – a perfect opportunity to discover some truly remarkable talent and experience a unique ballet show!

Onwards and Upwards

The adventure is still unfolding! The coming weeks promise more discoveries in this glorious city. The Pink Tutu has arrived in Milan, ready to spread its magic through the vibrant streets, from ballet studios to vintage boutiques and beautiful theaters. I have a feeling the adventure in this city is only just beginning – a dance filled with elegance, artistry, and of course, pink!
