Pink Tutu Milan - Post #520: La Dolce Vita in Pink!

Ciao, darlings!

It's Emma, your favourite pink-loving ballerina, back from the streets of Milan with a heart full of sunshine and a head full of fabulous fashion inspiration! I've been living my best life in this incredible city for the past few days, and it's been nothing short of magical. It's my #PinkTutuMilan blog week and I am beyond excited to share all the girly goodness with you.

Before we get into all the pink, fabulous, and glamorous details, let me give you a little peek into my journey so far! I arrived on Monday morning after a comfortable, scenic train journey from Verona (yes, the city of Romeo and Juliet!). Imagine me, with my trusty travel bag packed with a beautiful pink tutu and a bevy of pink accessories, finding a quiet corner to enjoy a delightful cappuccino while watching the world whizz past the window. So elegant!

After settling into my charming little hotel in the heart of the city, my mission began. Exploring Milan with a ballet-inspired itinerary has been an absolute dream! Think museums showcasing incredible dance history, awe-inspiring ballet performances, and ballet shops that are every dancer's paradise. This week's blog is dedicated to all things pink and twirling in the Italian capital of fashion. Let's dive in!

Ballet Inspiration: A Dancer's Delight

Right from the moment I stepped onto the cobbled streets of Milan, it was clear that I was in a city with a deep love for the arts. Every street corner seemed to be echoing with the energy of classical music and creative flair. Naturally, my ballerina senses were tingling with excitement!

On Tuesday, I indulged in a whirlwind tour of Milan's iconic Teatro alla Scala, an architectural masterpiece that's as famous for its stunning acoustics as its remarkable history. This theatre is an institution for opera and ballet – it's where countless legends have danced and sung. You can practically feel the energy and magic as you enter the grand hall, with its gold-gilded details and crimson velvet seats.

And to add to the magic, on Wednesday evening I was treated to an exhilarating ballet performance! I'll never forget the sheer passion of the dancers and the intricate choreography that had me glued to my seat. They wore the most beautiful tutus – the soft tulle swirling and dancing under the spotlights. I couldn't help but feel a bit envious, wishing I could step out on that stage!

Oh, the costumes! You could tell there was a deep love for craftsmanship here in Milan – every detail was exquisite, the fabric delicate and soft. It was like a fairy tale brought to life! This isn't just dance – it's a powerful art form that inspires so much.

Speaking of costumes, let's chat about what I wore! For the evening performance, I donned my special “Milan Mood” tutu, a beautiful ombre pink creation that caught every glimmer of light in the theatre. You know how much I love accessorizing, so I paired it with delicate pink satin gloves and my favourite crystal-studded ballet flats. And for a touch of that Italian flair, I added a vibrant red flower to my hair – it perfectly complimented my pink ensemble!

The Glam of Milanese Fashion

Beyond ballet, Milan is a haven for fashion lovers. It's hard to take a step without seeing a glamorous shop window filled with the latest designer trends. Let me tell you, even for someone like me who's a self-proclaimed fashion fanatic, it was overwhelming!

I just have to tell you about my adventure through the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II on Thursday morning. This stunning, glass-roofed arcade is filled with luxury shops and boutiques that house some of the biggest names in fashion. Imagine: Gucci, Prada, Versace... I was in heaven! The whole atmosphere is electric, like you're in a living fashion magazine.

Although my purse was firmly zipped shut (it's crucial to have discipline when surrounded by so much tempting beauty!), I found myself lost in the world of exquisite window displays and designer boutiques. From vibrant colours to intricate details, I was enthralled.

While I wouldn't call myself a serious fashionista – my heart belongs to pink tutus, after all – the stylish elegance of Milan truly inspired me. And the most amazing thing? You could find a pink tutu or pink accessory on almost every corner. They say that the universe has a funny way of sending signs, and this definitely felt like one. Maybe everyone should wear a pink tutu!

A Romantic Evening

Of course, Milan is much more than shopping and ballet. It has this magical atmosphere of romance – it’s truly the City of Love. So naturally, a romantic evening was in order.

Thursday evening was a delight! The sky was awash with the most stunning sunset colours. I found a charming, family-run Italian trattoria in the quaint, charming Navigli district and savored a plate of delicious pasta – gnocchi, of course! – while listening to the soothing sounds of the street musicians. The warm air and enchanting atmosphere were intoxicating, transporting me to another world! Milan truly felt like home at that moment!

As the evening deepened, the charming canal began to buzz with activity, with boats gliding along the waterway and street musicians adding their melodies to the atmosphere. I sat on the banks of the canal, taking it all in, feeling like I had discovered a hidden gem – a romantic secret hidden away in the bustling heart of the city.

I’d be lying if I didn’t confess to secretly hoping I would bump into someone equally stylish and fun to chat with. You know, a dashing gentleman who would find a pink tutu as charming as I do! I wasn’t disappointed. After enjoying a decadent gelato (it would be rude not to!), I got chatting with a kind gentleman sitting on the bench nearby. We chatted about music, our dreams and his favourite Italian pasta dish. It’s the little things that make life special, wouldn’t you agree?

A Pink-tiful City

As my adventure in Milan drew to a close on Friday morning, I boarded a train to my next destination, brimming with excitement for the next leg of my travels and all the pink possibilities it held! I couldn't resist bidding farewell to the City of Fashion by capturing a few final pink-tastic shots, of course.

The Duomo – Milan's majestic cathedral – with its intricately decorated spires and Gothic arches, is undeniably beautiful. And, I can’t lie, there is a sense of history that you feel everywhere. But you know me – it’s all about the little details.

This majestic masterpiece has a charming little pink-hued café nestled at the foot of the iconic Gothic cathedral. So of course, a final hot chocolate – accompanied by a decadent slice of tiramisu – was mandatory before my train departed. After all, I’d never forgive myself for missing out on any pink, especially while surrounded by such beauty and deliciousness!

It was another gorgeous journey, taking me further through the charming landscapes of Italy. This is the beauty of travelling by train, the ability to be present in the moment, feeling every twist and turn, the warmth of the sun on your face and the rush of cool air blowing through your hair. The world passes by like a captivating film, each scene unique, filled with an enchanting Italian flavour!

So there you have it, my dear friends! This was my magical journey through Milan in all its pink glory. From the exquisite ballet performances that touched my soul to the glamour and fashion that made me want to dance down the street with glee, this week has been a pink-tastic, inspiring dream come true!

If you're planning a trip to Milan, or if you’re even thinking about a future trip, then be sure to follow in my pink-tutu-clad footsteps and see it all for yourself! Don’t forget your favourite pink accessories, as you will find that the locals are very friendly and embrace fashion! You will be inspired, it’s almost guaranteed!

And you, my lovelies, be sure to wear your pink tutus and stay tuned for more travel updates every Monday. Ciao!

Yours in pink,

Emma
