Pink Tutu Milan - Wednesday 2005-09-28 - Post #538
Ciao bellas!
Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where tutus reign supreme, and pink is the only colour that matters. This week, I'm whisking you all away to the vibrant city of Milan, where the streets are buzzing with fashionistas and the air crackles with a certain je ne sais quoi.
Now, you all know how much I love exploring new places, and what better way to do so than with a trip to Milan Fashion Week? It’s such a dream to be surrounded by stunning designs and elegant people - pure fashion heaven. My trusty pink tutu and I have been strutting our stuff down the Via Montenapoleone, and I've spotted so many beautiful trends - lots of vibrant colours, gorgeous silk scarves and of course, more sequins than you can shake a feather boa at.
But, you know me, I’m all about blending ballet into my adventures. So, before the madness of Fashion Week commenced, I took a well-deserved detour to the Teatro alla Scala - Milan's magnificent opera house. This historic building, built in the 18th century, is a true masterpiece, and as I walked through the majestic entrance, my heart skipped a beat.
The highlight of the trip, however, was witnessing a breathtaking ballet performance. I was totally mesmerized by the exquisite choreography and the sheer talent of the dancers. There’s just something about a graceful pirouette or a powerful leap that makes my heart soar.
After a performance like that, I felt totally inspired. The next day, I spent the morning taking a ballet class at a small studio tucked away on a charming cobbled street. It was wonderful to move freely and stretch my body - that perfect blend of elegance and athleticism - something that just makes my soul sing.
After class, I hopped on a vibrant red tram (they're like miniature art pieces!) and rode through the bustling city centre. I soaked in the sights and sounds - the smell of freshly brewed espresso, the sound of cheerful chatter in Italian, and the sheer beauty of the ancient architecture. It was utterly enchanting!
Now, let's talk about food - no trip to Italy is complete without indulging in their delicious cuisine. I’m already obsessed with their delicious fresh pasta, so I've been trying different types. Yesterday, I enjoyed the most delightful spinach and ricotta ravioli – heavenly! And you simply must try their gelato! It’s creamy, sweet and refreshing - the perfect treat after a long day of sightseeing.
In between ballet classes, shopping excursions and gelato escapades, I've been finding little havens to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. There’s this beautiful park just a short tram ride away - the Parco Sempione - and I love spending a couple of hours there, reading my book while soaking up the sunshine. I’ve been enjoying The Brontë sisters novels, and they are totally getting me into the literary mood - they just feel so romantic, adventurous and beautifully written!
I always make sure I pack a picnic and a bottle of bubbly, of course. There's just something so chic and glamorous about a picnic under a tree, with a glass of something fizzy and my trusty pink tutu as company! I can almost feel the romantic sparkling magic of Paris here!
This evening, I’m taking in a beautiful theatre performance - a comedy, just to bring some light and laughter to my week. And tomorrow? I'll be heading back to London to continue my work.
It's always a bittersweet experience, saying goodbye to a city that has stolen my heart, but the thrill of heading home to Derbyshire and sharing my adventures with my beloved followers always keeps me going.
Before I go, a little pink tutu plea! I know I’ve been preaching the virtues of pink tutus for a while, but I really feel it's time to start spreading this message even more. So, for the next week, I challenge all of you to wear pink!
Whether you go for a pink dress, a pink top or even a pink feather boa - the bolder, the better! Pink tutus are great and all, but even if it’s a hint of pink, you are helping me in my mission - get the world wearing more pink! And remember, a pink tutu is never too much! It’s like wearing a dose of happiness, joy, and a sprinkle of sparkling magic - because life's too short to be anything but fabulously pink.
Catch you next Monday, darlings! And remember, stay pink!
Ciao Bella!
Emma.

P.S. This blog is my baby, my passion and my dream come true. I finance my trips to places like Milan through ballet performances. So, if you ever fancy an extra bit of sparkle in your life, be sure to check out the local theatre scene and book tickets to your nearest ballet! You never know, it might be the pinkest performance ever.
