Pink Tutu Milan #569: Wednesday, 3rd May 2006 - La Scala's Magic

Buongiorno, darlings! Emma here, fresh from another whirl through Milan, tutu twirling, of course. This week's adventure, my loves, has been a dazzling dance through La Scala's magical doors.

This Wednesday marked a delightful date in my Pink Tutu diary - my weekly blog for www.pink-tutu.com! As always, I'm absolutely bubbling over with news and delights from the City of Fashion. This week, my heart, like my tutu, is pink with happiness!

Imagine my absolute glee when I secured a ticket for a performance at the iconic La Scala! Ever since arriving in Milan, this was a dream I craved with all my heart. Of course, no journey to La Scala is complete without a magnificent outfit, so I slipped into a sparkling pink tulle skirt with an emerald green silk bodice - just perfect for an evening at the opera. And you know me, it wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu outing without a feather boa! A vibrant shade of shocking pink, naturally. It was time to embrace the ultimate Milanese evening.

First stop? A quick tram ride, because that's how a true Pink Tutu girl rolls - embracing the public transport of any city! With a sigh of contentment, I sunk into the seat, relishing the sights and sounds of the bustling Milanese streets. Then, arriving at the opera house, a wave of sheer excitement swept over me. La Scala stood majestically, with an aura of classic elegance, as if whispering tales of operatic history. A delightful old gentleman holding a single white rose for his partner, a stylishly dressed lady carrying a stack of beautifully bound librettos, and even a group of young ballet dancers heading in the same direction - the air hummed with anticipation!

Stepping inside, I felt the magical weight of the grandeur and history within. Gilt-edged balconies adorned with intricate sculptures gazed down, seemingly a universe away from my everyday world. The hushed whispers and murmurs around me painted the air with a sense of quiet reverence for this grand temple of art.

The show tonight? An electrifying performance of Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida". Oh my, it was simply divine. The passion and drama of the story, woven into a symphony of incredible music, brought me to the very edge of my seat. Every aria and chorus resonated deep within me, sending shivers down my spine.

But, you know me, I always have an eye out for details! A touch of pink embroidery on the grand drapes, the shimmering rose-gold of the chandelier, even the pink roses that were handed out at the end - pink truly is everywhere, even in the heart of La Scala! It seems pink tutu magic is infiltrating even the most classical and prestigious of venues. I'm telling you, dear readers, we're only just beginning to see the power of pink in our lives.

Afterwards, a spontaneous stroll down Via Montenapoleone with its boutiques shimmering with luxurious labels, filled my senses with the intoxicating scent of Milanese chic. A burst of delightful window-shopping, punctuated with the happy clink of my new silver pendant that perfectly complements my upcoming summer outfit - a hot pink sequined halter top with a matching tulle skirt, just picture it!

Even the gelato was exceptional! Creamy vanilla and raspberry swirl, perfectly captured in a delicate pink wafer cone, of course! The flavour, as refreshing as a cool breeze after a sweltering summer's day. Ah, life in Milan!

Tomorrow, dear darlings, brings an early morning ballet class at one of Milan's esteemed ballet studios, followed by a decadent lunch in the courtyard of a charming café, a delightful respite from the bustling streets. My evening promises to be filled with the romantic air of a classical ballet performance in one of the city's beautiful, intimate theatres.

So, you see, darlings, there's never a dull moment when you embrace the life of a pink tutu-wearing ballerina. With a heart full of passion, a mind overflowing with inspiration, and a spirit fuelled by pink magic, I’m ready to dance through the rest of my days in Milan! Join me on this whimsical adventure next week, when I’ll be exploring the cobbled alleys of the city, searching for hidden artistic treasures. Until then, remember, my loves, a life lived in a pink tutu is a life well-lived!

And of course, remember to stay up-to-date with all things Pink Tutu by visiting my weekly blog, www.pink-tutu.com! It’s bursting with all the latest fashion updates, exciting ballet news, and glimpses into my adventures in this magical city! See you soon!
