Pink Tutu Milan: Post 570 - Wednesday 10th May 2006 - Bonjour from Milan, darling!

Well, hello my lovelies! I hope this week finds you all in a positively twirling state of mind, just like me! As you know, this Wednesday blog is my special "Pink Tutu Milan" installment, where I take you all on a dazzling journey through the vibrant streets and glamorous stages of Milan. So settle down with a cuppa, grab a biscuit, and let's waltz our way through the adventures of this past week!

First things first, I simply MUST share this amazing Parisian adventure from last weekend! You see, darling, I managed to snag a rather lovely gig performing at a charming little theatre in the heart of Paris. Think chandeliers, red velvet seats, and even a couple of those rather fabulous, twirling chandeliers you see in the films. It was pure magic!

Naturally, I travelled in style - a little bit of French elegance wouldn't go amiss, now would it? Imagine me, swishing my pink tutu through the Eurostar, my suitcase packed to the brim with shimmering outfits for my Paris performances. Even the fellow passengers seemed to be in awe of the beautiful, flowing tutu – a testament to its ability to turn heads wherever it goes.

Once I arrived in Paris, I simply had to treat myself to a little "Parisian shopping therapy" – a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do! Honestly, darling, the little boutiques tucked away in the Latin Quarter are divine. I even found this amazing antique shop, tucked away down a narrow cobbled street, and picked up a stunning brooch, just the thing to make a statement at my Parisian performances!

Speaking of my performances, they were simply a whirlwind of joy! Each night was magical, a blend of classical ballet and even a touch of playful jazz, thanks to the incredible choreography the company created especially for my pink tutu – truly a feat of elegance, wouldn’t you agree?

The audiences were simply adorable, enthralled by every pirouette and grand jeté. A few times, I even heard the sound of little girls' gasps, enthralled by the sheer spectacle of my pink tutu – oh, I simply adore those little pink tutu fans of mine. Honestly, my dearest, nothing fills me with greater joy than sharing the magic of ballet with new faces, especially little ones who are just starting their dance journeys!

Of course, a weekend in Paris simply wouldn't be complete without a trip to the iconic Louvre Museum, a whirlwind of culture and art! As I stood before the Mona Lisa, I felt the power of timeless beauty – the smile she wears is something that’s inspired artists for centuries and generations! But I have to confess, darling, even she couldn’t quite rival the graceful swirls and twirls of a well-executed pirouette in a perfectly fitted pink tutu. Maybe next time, Mona!

Returning to the lovely city of Milan on Sunday evening, I knew I was home. There's just something special about Milan, something invigorating and glamorous. The cobbled streets, the architecture, the amazing coffee shops, the people in their designer clothes…it’s just brimming with creative energy. It's no surprise it's considered the fashion capital of the world, darling!

And this week's agenda, my dears, is brimming with the beautiful things I adore. On Tuesday evening, I'm venturing out to Teatro alla Scala, the iconic opera house, to witness the legendary 'La Traviata'. Oh darling, Verdi is a master at creating those truly emotionally charged moments – perfect for any drama queen, even one in a pink tutu. I'm sure I'll be humming its melodies for weeks!

Wednesday afternoon, I'm catching a workshop by one of Milan’s top ballet instructors. He’s known for his incredibly elegant technique – I'm hoping to learn some of his secrets to achieve that effortlessly perfect "turnout." It’s going to be a delightful way to stretch out those limbs, all in the name of perfect form and elegant moves.

Speaking of dance, Friday is set to be a night of dazzling ballet, as I have tickets to witness a performance by the illustrious Teatro alla Scala ballet company, a true jewel in the crown of Italian ballet! Oh, darling, you know how much I love seeing these ballet dancers grace the stage – it fills me with such incredible inspiration, making me want to dust off my ballet shoes and dance until the stars fall from the sky.

This week’s shopping spree, dear reader, is focused on perfecting my Milan chic look! Now, I’m known for loving my tutus, but a girl’s got to know when to switch up her style and embrace the chicest Milan has to offer, right? This weekend, I’m diving into the world of vintage designer fashion, a true Milan treasure hunt!

And lastly, darling, how can I forget one of my favorite Milan traditions: the breathtaking beauty of the Duomo! This weekend, I plan to catch a gondola ride down the Naviglio canal with a delicious gelato cone in hand, while I marvel at the Duomo’s iconic silhouette, towering over the cityscape. It’s truly magical.

Oh darling, don't you simply love Milan's blend of elegant fashion, rich history, and captivating performances? Every corner seems to whisper tales of beauty, creativity, and * joie de vivre*!

My Milan blog this week is coming to a close. Until next week's adventure, remember: always believe in your inner ballerina, let your heart sing, and twirl with as much passion as you can muster.

Ciao bella!

Emma
