Buongiorno, darling! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, Emma, writing to you live from the dazzling city of Milan, Italy! 🇮🇹 This week, we're in the heart of the fashion capital, and my goodness, is it a whirlwind of glamour, style, and of course, amazing tutus! 💃
You know I love my tutus, right? It's an undeniable truth, and this week has been an absolute dream! From exploring the iconic Teatro alla Scala - just imagine, all that history, those iconic performances! - to browsing the most exquisite boutiques for my next wardrobe triumph, I'm living my best ballet-inspired life here in Milan!
And speaking of triumphs, this trip is all thanks to my darling ballet performances back in dear old Derbyshire, where I dance for a living, yes! It's no secret that a girl needs to feed her tutu habit, so every penny I earn from graceful pirouettes and heartfelt adagios is funnelled straight back into more tulle, sequins, and fabulous footwear! 😉
Let me tell you, there's a magic to travelling by train in Europe. I hop aboard a luxurious, red Italian train - just picture the red! A splash of fiery passion to complement my blush-tinted tutu, you know? - and the journey itself is like stepping into a ballet. Every view, from lush rolling hills to historic cities whizzing by, becomes a beautiful tableau, like watching a captivating ballet performance.
And the trams! Oh, darling, they're even more delightful. You can hop on one in Milan and experience a completely different world of vintage charm, sleek design, and that oh-so-familiar Italian passion. There's a vibrant energy about Milan's public transportation, much like a fast-paced pas de deux. It makes navigating this city a real adventure!
Today's adventure takes me to the Duomo di Milano! You simply must see this majestic marvel in person. Its sheer grandeur, the intricately crafted marble, the statues that adorn every corner - it's like being on a stage designed by the most creative director! My pink tutu just seems to twinkle and dance even more under the shadow of this magnificent building. 😉
And darling, Milan has become the most incredible shopping paradise! Boutique after boutique boasts the most delectable delights for any sartorialist's dreams. I'm not just talking about tutu-tastic shops (though you can be sure I found some fabulous tulle wonders!). No, it's a kaleidoscope of designers, textures, colors... a veritable stage for fashion! Imagine my thrill when I found the most exquisite pair of pink satin heels that I knew would perfectly complement a brand new fluffy pink tutu! This trip has certainly put my "must-have" list into overdrive! 👠
Now, I haven't forgotten about our Wednesday routine! We simply must see a show, mustn't we? And for this week, the "highlight of my highlights" is the ballet show at the Teatro alla Scala. This renowned venue boasts a breathtakingly beautiful stage and has hosted some of the most iconic performances in history. This was once the home of legendary ballerinas like Pavlova, so there's a magical energy swirling through the air that I can’t wait to tap into.
While it's certainly a beautiful and exhilarating experience, the best part of visiting the theatre in a city like Milan is that you become part of an ensemble, a performance that starts even before the curtains rise. The buzzing streets around the theatre, filled with stylish individuals dressed in their most glamorous attire, create a dazzling atmosphere - it’s as though the whole city is waiting for a curtain call.
Of course, I'm already imagining the elegant dresses, the sparkling jewels, and the dashing men with perfectly groomed moustaches that I will see tonight. It's almost like a fashion show before the performance! Speaking of elegant dresses, you know how much I love all things fashion, and tonight, darling, I will be sporting a special pink tulle creation for the occasion. A tutu of silk, soft as a whisper, with delicate lace edging. A sprinkle of shimmering crystals along the bottom for added magic, naturally! 😉
And it’s not just the show that gets me all excited. The bustling streets, the lively conversation, the aroma of Italian cuisine wafting from cafes and restaurants... it’s all part of the performance, darling! Even just walking through the city is like gliding onto a stage, every cobbled street a potential dance floor! And you can be sure I'm going to try my best to capture some of this beauty in my Instagram story. After all, the most exciting dance performances don't just happen on the stage, they’re all around us!
Speaking of the most fabulous and exciting performances, did I mention there's a little ballet class on the agenda, too? That's right, darling, I’m absolutely delighted to find a fantastic dance studio nestled within the heart of the city! Imagine, I can dance my heart out in the sunshine, all whilst overlooking the vibrant streets of Milan. Who knows what wonderful steps or graceful arabesques I might learn! It's the perfect way to connect with the energy of this dazzling city, and perhaps, even learn some moves to add to my repertoire.
As the sun dips below the horizon, casting the city in an array of soft hues, the streets of Milan come alive with a vibrant energy that reminds me of a thrilling pas de deux. The locals - chic and stylish, all dressed in the latest fashion creations, they look as though they stepped out of a haute couture show - create a lively spectacle on the sidewalks, a ballet of human life. And, like any good ballerina, I soak it all in. I try to mimic their confidence, their poise, their sense of self.
For tonight, my darlings, I’ll leave you with this – my time in Milan is as enchanting as a dream ballet. Every corner I turn reveals something spectacular, and with each breathtaking discovery, my heart swells with love for this beautiful, inspiring city. I’ll share more of my adventure in my next post!
