Pink Tutu Milan #595: Ciao Bella! From Derbyshire to Duomo

Hello lovelies! It's your favourite pink tutu wearing blogger Emma, back with another Milan misadventure!

Today's date, 1st November 2006, feels extra special, it's the start of a whole new month, bursting with the promise of crisp autumn leaves and hot chocolate by the fire!

Oh, and did I mention I'm in Milan?! You know how I adore my travels, flitting from one exciting city to the next, spreading the pink tutu gospel wherever I go! And right now, this incredible Italian city has stolen my heart (and my shopping budget!).

This week's adventure began on a Wednesday, with a bit of a journey, and a whole lot of exciting news. Remember how I was telling you about that incredible opportunity to perform at La Scala? Well, dear readers, the audition went wonderfully! Not to boast (well, maybe a little) but my pirouettes were practically flawless, my leaps were reaching new heights, and my pink tutu positively shimmered under the stage lights.

Now, I'm not going to spoil all the details, you'll just have to wait until my next blog to find out how it all went. However, I can tell you that I feel positively triumphant, bursting with excitement, and ready to conquer the world - one twirl at a time!

But enough about me! (Though, how could I not mention this exciting news?). What has Milan got in store for you? This week's adventure is full of trams, tutus, and treasures. Oh, and of course, some divine fashion inspiration - because who doesn't love a little Italian style?!

Milan Memories:

Our journey began back in Derbyshire, where the crisp autumn air was a welcome change after the long summer. Goodbye, sunshine! Hello, warm woolly jumpers and the comforting scent of bonfires. But oh, how I missed the sun's warmth as I travelled across England, through those quaint little towns and picturesque villages. It was as if every stop I made whispered about tales of romance and adventure. The railway carriages were like time capsules filled with snippets of conversations and the clatter of a thousand journeys. The sights, the sounds, the smells - it all built up to that tingling anticipation that only a long train journey can inspire.

Finally, the journey brought me to the bustling Milan train station, with its cacophony of greetings and the delicious smells of coffee and pastries.

The energy here is exhilarating. People are so stylish, everyone with their own unique touch. And let's be honest, with the exquisite architecture around every corner, the air thick with creativity, how could you not feel inspired? I instantly knew, I just had to find the perfect pink tutu for my time here!

Tutu Treasures:

That evening, I set off exploring Milan’s famous Duomo. I wasn't planning on shopping, but of course, a good tutu-wearer always has an eye out for treasures. As I strolled past a small shop tucked away on a charming side street, I spotted a flash of colour. My eyes widened, a shimmering pink tutu - a ballet dancer’s dream! The soft fabric seemed to float with every gust of wind and the colour was just as vivid as a rose in bloom. I had to have it!

After my exciting shopping discovery, I indulged in some traditional Italian cuisine. Now, anyone who knows me knows I am a pasta fanatic, but the fresh ravioli I enjoyed tonight, bathed in rich tomato sauce, truly stole my heart. With every mouthful, I was reminded that this trip was all about experiencing a whole new world, a world of passion, art, and a lot of fabulous food!

The Tram, the Tutu, and the Theatre:

Of course, a trip to Milan isn’t complete without a trip on the tram! It was fascinating to watch the world zip by, to see the locals with their own distinctive styles. The journey felt like a silent dance, everyone gliding along their daily routes, connected by an unseen thread of rhythm.

What would a blog about Milan be without a trip to the theatre? Luckily, it was an exciting night of ballet, so I slipped into my newly acquired pink tutu and made my way to Teatro alla Scala. As I entered the theatre, I felt a palpable buzz of excitement, everyone around me filled with anticipation. The energy was infectious.

And the performance? It was utterly magnificent! Each dance step seemed to carry the history of the theatre itself, the passion, the drama, and the joy that could only be found in the beautiful art of ballet. I was swept away in a whirl of emotion, captivated by the talent on stage and the brilliance of the lighting. It was truly an evening I will never forget.

More Than Just A City:

Milan, this city is more than just a fashion hub. It’s an adventure waiting to happen, an inspiring world of colour and culture waiting to be explored. You can sense its heart and soul pulsing with life in every corner. From the cobblestone streets lined with quaint shops, to the towering architecture of the Duomo, to the quiet charm of the local trattorias - each street, each alley, tells its own captivating story.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you, one of the loveliest discoveries this week was this amazing little bookshop tucked away on a backstreet. Inside, shelves were filled with books of all genres, their pages whispering of stories from across the world. I settled into a plush armchair, lost in the scent of paper and the rustle of pages, surrounded by the quiet hum of the city. It was pure bliss.

This city truly gets under your skin and stays with you.

But I can't stay too long - more adventures await. My next destination? A secret. Let’s just say, a new performance, a new stage, and a whole lot of pink tutu-wearing magic!

So, remember my lovely readers, you don’t need to be a ballerina to wear a pink tutu! It’s a state of mind, a playful reminder that every day can be an adventure, full of twirls, sunshine and smiles.

Until next week, remember to dance your way through life,

Your eternally twirling,

Emma x
