Pink Tutu Milan #609: From Derbyshire to Dolce Vita Dreams 🩰💖🇮🇹

Ciao bellas!

It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, Emma, back from the heart of Milan, Italy! This week, the Pink Tutu adventure has whisked me through cobblestone streets and glamorous fashion boutiques, leaving a trail of glittery sparkle in my wake. I've been soaking up the Dolce Vita – it's practically overflowing with pink and tutus, even if they don't quite realise it yet! 😉

But before we dive into my Milanian escapades, let's catch up with my travels. This journey started with a morning train ride from Derbyshire, the beautiful, rolling hills giving way to the bustling cityscape of London. As always, the carriage felt like a magical dressing room – a few passengers even complimented my tutu! Turns out, my message of pink tutu joy is spreading even in the most unexpected corners of the UK! 😊

My London stay was brief, just a few hours before I hopped aboard a Eurostar train to Paris, a journey that always makes my heart flutter. It's the perfect setting for fantasizing about all the beautiful shows I'd love to perform in, from the opulent Palais Garnier to the intimate intimate Salle Pleyel. And who knows, maybe one day I will grace those stages with my own pirouettes, fueled by pink tutu power! 💖

A few hours and several cups of espresso later, I arrived in Paris’ Gare du Nord, and within a heartbeat, the Eiffel Tower’s iconic silhouette shimmered in the Parisian skyline. After a quick cuppa at my favourite local café – yes, I always find a way to fit in a little afternoon tea no matter where I am! - I caught the train to Milan.

Speaking of which, Milan! It's as if a dream from the pages of a fashion magazine has come to life, all dramatic architecture and luxurious window displays, with an undeniable joie de vivre. As soon as I stepped off the train, the city embraced me with open arms, a heady cocktail of artistic energy and fashion-forward elegance.

My Milan lodgings are the most delightful, a small family-run bed and breakfast called “La Bella Rosa” with the most charming, rose-covered patio – perfect for enjoying morning pastries with a view of the Duomo! They even had a complimentary glass of prosecco waiting for me, which is just the way I like my welcomes! 😄

Wednesday’s itinerary in Milan? Oh, my darling! It's all about indulging the senses! The day started with a breakfast of fresh croissants and delicate macarons at a quaint, local café tucked away in a charming square. As I enjoyed my pastry feast, I took in the breathtaking view of the Duomo – it’s quite simply the most beautiful church I’ve ever seen! It was all marble and stained glass, intricate details and magnificent sculptures. It made me want to swirl my way down its aisles in my most dramatic tutu! 😉

But enough about buildings; it was time to explore some Milanese fashion! My favourite find? The gorgeous pink Prada boutique, complete with mirrored ceilings and all the most stunning bags and shoes a girl could wish for! The clothes! The accessories! If it was pink or sparkly, I wanted to try it on! Luckily, the helpful salespeople at the boutique didn’t mind the occasional pirouette while I was browsing. The staff even called me "La Principessa Rosa", and if I didn't already love Italy, I was definitely falling in love with Milan!

The afternoon was for exploration, with me venturing down narrow cobbled lanes filled with antique shops, vintage stores, and artistic studios. The artistic energy was simply electrifying! I ended the day with a fabulous gelato – you know I always love my sweet treats! Strawberry, of course. Just the way life should be! 💖

Of course, Milan is famous for its iconic opera house, Teatro alla Scala. Tonight, however, was a treat – I found myself on the front row for the renowned ballet company Teatro alla Scala’s latest production. Tonight was an exceptional, mesmerising performance by the greatest dancers! Their movements, their emotion, the passion! The entire experience was absolutely unforgettable! The music, the lighting, the story – everything was magical! The most enchanting part? The set! It was simply breath-taking - all marble and glittering gold, reflecting the energy of the dance. I sat mesmerised throughout the performance.

Even now, back at La Bella Rosa, the thrill of tonight’s performance has not left me. It's one thing to love dance, but seeing this extraordinary performance of talented dancers expressing their artistic gifts through motion and movement is simply mind-blowing! I think the thrill and the pure wonder of watching professional dance has just given me the extra inspiration I needed for a brand new project I'm excited about. It is all about inspiring and helping others to rediscover the pure joy of ballet! I can't wait to tell you more about it soon.

Until then, I leave you with this thought - we are all beautiful, inside and out! And everyone can wear a pink tutu! Be bold, be brave, be you! Remember, "pink is the new black!" 😊

Love,

Emma
