Pink Tutu Milan: Post #623 - Ciao Bella!

Wednesday 16th May 2007

Oh, my dears! It's Wednesday and time for another little update from sunny (sometimes) Milan! This week I've been living my best pink-tutu life, from exploring cobblestone streets to finding the most stunning ballet costumes for a very special performance this Saturday night!

Firstly, darling, the journey itself was just delightful! I'd been invited by a charming ballerina, Francesca, to see a captivating "Swan Lake" at La Scala - a treat! I started my trip from Derbyshire in the most perfect vintage pink coach - a touch of colour to brighten the dreary English morning. From my window seat, I devoured the scenery as we hurtled through quaint English villages, watching the world blur by like a sweet ballet.

As the day wore on, I found myself in a lovely bustling French train station, buzzing with a flurry of activity. You can imagine my delight when I saw the most dazzling pink carriage just waiting for me! It was as if the universe itself was whispering, "Emma, darling, your life is about to become fabulous!"

But the best was yet to come! Arriving in Milan, the city glowed in the evening sunshine, an absolute treat! The streets, filled with smiling faces, vibrated with life and charm. Of course, I had to travel by tram – it was so chic and a much better way to really feel the heartbeat of Milan! The buildings, all impossibly glamorous and stylish, danced before my eyes – imagine an architectural ballet!

After dropping off my bag at Francesca’s darling little studio - it’s like stepping into a romantic ballet fairytale! – I knew I had to find that perfect pink dress! My dears, this city is truly heaven for fashion lovers!

You could spend weeks exploring all the designer shops and boutiques, so I took a deep breath and settled for a little walk around the stunning Piazza Duomo. It's quite something - it felt as if I’d been swept into the opening scene of "Sleeping Beauty" by the grandeur and elegance. And the food! My goodness, the food! Imagine a world where even your morning latte has a hint of pink. That’s Milan, darling. I was absolutely in love! You could easily spend all your time trying the delicious pastas and delectable desserts they create. My dear friends, I sampled so many I almost wore myself out!

Pink, Pink, Everywhere!

This afternoon, I spent an unforgettable hour or two in one of the many enchanting shops here – I mean, a proper treasure trove of ballet wonders, you can just imagine! With every sparkly, silk dress, my imagination ran wild – think Swan Lake in its most glorious form!

The highlight for me was spotting a magnificent pink tutu – so beautiful it was hard to breathe, truly breathtaking, with layers upon layers of tulle and just a touch of glitter to make it sparkle. Of course, it felt so utterly magical to slip into it - like a tiny princess waltzing through my very own private ballet world!

Let’s Dance!

My heart is truly leaping with joy at the thought of performing this weekend! It’s at a rather glamorous little theatre in the heart of Milan – just imagine it! I've been practicing my routine with Francesca, a stunning dancer herself, and I have a strong feeling I’ll be swirling around on the stage under those spotlight lights like the brightest ballerina under the Italian sky!

Of course, I’m going to write a post on Monday about the whole performance – how could I not! But now I have a few little errands to run - maybe find another dress or two! You never know when you’ll find that special, fabulous pink dress that makes your heart sing!

And I’ve got to be prepared for this amazing performance - because you know, I want everyone in this amazing city, no, the whole world, to feel as if they are wearing a pink tutu, to have that joy and sparkle in their steps! It’s all part of the fun, and who knows, perhaps one day we'll all be swirling around together in a beautiful, pink-tutu world.

So until next week, darlings!

XOXO
