Pink Tutu Milan: #629 – A Whirlwind Wednesday in the City of Fashion

Ciao, darling dancers! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, Emma, reporting live from the magical Milan, Italy. As the sun bathes the city in golden light, casting a gentle warmth upon my face, I can't help but feel a deep sense of joy for being here.

It's Wednesday, and like clockwork, I've found myself hopping off the tram, the jingle of the bell announcing my arrival at the heart of Milan. Today, dear readers, I've had a simply splendid day, bursting at the seams with ballet bliss, a dash of shopping indulgence, and enough charming Italian energy to fuel me until next week. Let me tell you all about it…

A Ballet Masterclass to Inspire

This morning started with a dose of ballet inspiration at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala. I know what you're thinking: "Emma, you're a ballerina, wouldn't you get tired of ballet?" To which I reply with a resounding NO! It's like asking a cat if it's tired of chasing a laser pointer! Every time I walk into a ballet studio, the energy thrumming through my body is simply divine. The room pulsates with grace, elegance, and pure dedication, and it reminds me why I fell in love with ballet in the first place.

The class was an absolute treat. A wonderful ballerina, with an effortless grace that had me captivated, took us through a sequence of exercises that felt both challenging and liberating. My body felt like it was remembering the language of movement, my soul singing with the beauty of ballet.

Spoiler Alert: It’s almost time for the big reveal of my next project: #PinkTutuChallenge. Let's just say that the Academy played a significant role in sparking this exciting new idea. 😉 I'll tell you all about it next week!

A Journey Through Time at the Museo del Novecento

Feeling energized after my ballet session, I hopped on a tram and took a short trip to the Museo del Novecento, where a fascinating exhibition about the art of the 20th century awaits. My love for the elegance and fluidity of ballet, and a passion for anything creative, makes this museum a must-visit for me whenever I visit Milan.

It was so wonderful to be surrounded by such captivating masterpieces, the sheer audacity of their colours, the starkness of their forms, it all spoke to me in a way that I found deeply resonating. It felt like a journey through time, a reflection of human expression, all beautifully intertwined with the changing trends and spirit of the century.

An Evening of Fashion & Entertainment: The Beauty of Milan

But a visit to Milan wouldn’t be complete without a touch of the glamorous energy that flows through this incredible city's streets. And so, I set out to explore the Piazza della Scala, which shimmered with life in the golden hour light. It's simply a beautiful square, with its historic opera house and bustling energy, the epitome of stylish Milanese life.

Of course, no stroll in this glamorous city could be complete without a spot of shopping, especially in a city like Milan, a hub for global fashion and design. The window displays shimmered with luxurious fabrics, inviting me into a world of dreams. The iconic Duomo di Milano loomed above it all, its beauty and grandeur captivating everyone’s attention. It was as though the Duomo had invited us all to a beautiful ballet, one of majesty and breathtaking detail.

Tonight, the city will pulsate with music, laughter, and excitement at La Scala, a cultural haven, where I'll be soaking in a performance by the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra. You could say, it’s just another Wednesday night for a Pink Tutu enthusiast like me.

But this evening’s performance, with its renowned talent and mesmerizing sounds, is going to be extra special. A rare and beautiful piece is being showcased: 'A Ballet in the Moonlight,' a beautiful ballet about a ballerina who dreams of flying. You can guess what this will mean for my Instagram, it's gonna be PINK fabulous!

Speaking of fabulous, did you know that in Milan they say, "Non mi ricordo dove ho lasciato la testa!" Which, in case you didn’t catch it, translates to "I can't remember where I left my head!" It's an apt expression when you consider that Milan is one of those cities where the charm, fashion, and sheer artistic flair can truly captivate the soul!

I can't wait to tell you more about it next week. So, until then, stay radiant and never stop dancing your hearts out.

Fashion in Pink

Milan is such a fashion city, there are so many shops! There is no escaping the beauty of high fashion. Even a trip to the market has stylish Milanese ladies strutting their stuff in fabulous ensembles. But you know me – my one true love is the colour pink and it was no surprise when I was delighted to discover a local Milanese fashion shop selling a glorious pink tutu for a ballet class. I absolutely couldn't resist.

And it was the perfect colour for tonight's performance: a ballet performance celebrating the beauty and artistry of the pink colour! I just loved how everything seemed to fall into place, as though the pink colour itself was directing me, whispering in my ear: "Come, Emma, dance with us in the moonlight."

And, of course, my dear Pink Tutu followers know my heart belongs to all things pink! So naturally, my first instinct after catching this beautiful pink tutu was to wear it all evening and it felt simply glorious. It reminded me of the little girl from Derbyshire, England, who had big dreams of wearing a tutu to a performance at The Royal Opera House. Dreams can truly come true.

Now I must leave you, my dearest friends, to enjoy the exquisite spectacle of 'A Ballet in the Moonlight.' I shall write to you again next Monday, filled with a whirlwind of excitement about #PinkTutuChallenge. I have an array of new and fabulous ways to inspire you, to help you feel bold, beautiful, and ready to spread your pink tutu wings and fly!

Ciao for now and remember to keep twirling!

Emma x
