Hello my gorgeous ballet-loving bunnies! 🐇💖 It's Wednesday, the 25th of July 2007, and Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, straight from the vibrant streets of Milan! You know I simply couldn't resist posting about my week in this stunning city - Milan has a certain magic that always draws me in.
Now, as you all know, my travel diary is fuelled by my passion for ballet. This time, my adventures in Milan were sponsored by my fabulous performance last week at the Teatro Sociale di Como. That show was truly unforgettable! I practically soared through the air in my sequined pink tutu (of course!), the audience absolutely loved it. You can't beat the thrill of performance, the electricity, the energy, and knowing that you're bringing joy to people! ✨
And what better way to reward myself after a wonderful show than with a trip to the incredible city of Milan? Honestly, the moment I stepped off the train, I was greeted by a kaleidoscope of sights and sounds - buzzing markets, the aroma of delicious espresso, and people with such a captivating sense of style! It's truly a city where fashion reigns supreme, which is just my kind of vibe!
My Milan adventure started at the glorious Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II - imagine, a shopping mall built in 1865! You'd think it would be old fashioned, but oh no! It's absolutely breathtaking, a masterpiece of architecture. The glass roof bathes the space in gorgeous golden light and there's so much to explore - from charming cafes serving the most incredible pastries, to designer boutiques that make my heart beat faster! I couldn't resist treating myself to a pair of gorgeous silk gloves, because every ballet dancer knows, good gloves are a necessity! 🧤 The intricate detailing on these beauties just blew me away.
Speaking of gorgeous things, did I tell you about my stunning new pink tutu I bought? Oh darling, it's divine! Imagine a symphony of blush and petal pink, it's a vision! I simply cannot wait to twirl in it! 💕 It was love at first sight at this incredible shop tucked away in a side street. They have the most extraordinary selection of tutus, it's like stepping into a fairytale. I practically squealed with delight.
On Friday, I found myself in the heart of Milan, strolling down Via Montenapoleone. The fashion! Oh, the fashion! It's intoxicating. The energy of this street is phenomenal! You can really feel the pulse of creativity and the love for fashion pulsing in the air. The windows are dazzling displays of everything stylish. I have to admit, I'm utterly addicted to these fashion adventures. But my favourite part of being in Milan is discovering hidden gems tucked away down side streets, the charming little boutiques with their unique treasures. You really never know what beauty you'll stumble upon.
But back to the ballet! Because, of course, ballet is at the very heart of my adventures. On Wednesday afternoon, I indulged in a fantastic ballet class at the Teatro alla Scala, an absolute gem. Imagine a stunning historical theatre, renowned throughout the world, where you can find a hidden ballet class for just 10 Euros! The teacher was simply delightful and it was just so inspiring being surrounded by talented dancers and sharing the joy of movement.
Afterwards, I went to a delightful little cafe right outside the theatre, nestled amongst charming alleyways. The cafe was the epitome of classic Italian charm with tiny tables and wicker chairs. They served the best cup of cappuccino I've ever had! And for lunch, the most delicate panino with artichoke hearts and Parma ham - absolutely delicious! I took it out into a nearby park and savoured it in the late afternoon sun, people watching as the locals strolled past. I always find that simply observing the rhythm of a city is a magical experience.
Speaking of rhythms, let's talk trams! Trams are my absolute favourite way of getting around. There's something so captivating about their gentle movement through the city. In Milan, they are beautifully old and adorned with advertising that captures the spirit of the city. I just love gazing at the pictures of stylish people on the trams. There's an incredible buzz of energy that radiates from them.
Speaking of that magical energy, I am completely enthralled with Milan. The combination of vibrant city life and timeless elegance simply calls to me. It's truly the perfect blend of history, culture, and contemporary art, all tied together with an incredibly stylish thread of fashion. This place is a must-see for any lover of ballet, art and all things fabulous!
