Pink Tutu Milan: Post #661 – Whirlwind Wednesdays in Milano

Ciao bellas! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad travel enthusiast, bringing you all the latest from the dazzling city of Milan! 🩰

It’s Wednesday, my lovely readers, which means it's time to ditch the mundane and dive headfirst into a day bursting with pink-tinted Milanese magic!

This week’s adventure started as all my favourite adventures do: with a steaming cup of cappuccino and a croissant as fluffy as a cloud, enjoyed at my charming little Airbnb in the heart of the city. Let’s be honest, this is just as much about the charmingly pink floral china as it is about the breakfast itself. 🌺

I woke up feeling particularly bubbly today, and after breakfast I decided to channel this excitement into my wardrobe – my outfit is everything. I settled on a vintage pink tutu (oh, it’s a beauty – think tulle layers, tiny diamanté accents and a touch of that glorious faded pink, perfect for a Parisian afternoon… just add beret!). Paired with my trusty pink ballet flats, it was an outfit as adorable as a bowlful of strawberries!

My Wednesday plan was to discover more of the captivating city and I started by heading off on a thrilling adventure by tram. You know how I love trams – so romantic and quintessentially European! I find that tram windows provide some of the most picturesque views, allowing you to get lost in the beautiful chaos of the city.

I whizzed past towering churches, quaint cobblestone streets lined with vibrant boutiques, and grand architecture in colours that made my heart sing. I took mental notes of shops, my toes tapping excitedly to the rhythm of the train's rumble. This city inspires so much!

Ballet at Teatro alla Scala: Dreams Do Come True!

And what is a day in Milan without a touch of elegant artistry?

Teatro alla Scala – Milan’s grand opera house – is my favourite place to indulge my inner ballerina. I love it when I'm lucky enough to catch a show here!

Today, my pink tutu got to shine under the soft spotlight of the theatre as I entered the hallowed halls of Teatro alla Scala. This was more than just another performance – tonight I had secured a rare ticket to the ballet "Giselle", the pinnacle of romantic ballet.

Oh, to be a graceful ballerina, spinning on that legendary stage! I might not be dancing under the spotlights yet, but being in the theatre brings me closer to that dream!

"Giselle" is an absolute masterpiece of storytelling, heartbreak, and pure ballet elegance. I'm not one for writing long reviews, but let's just say the emotion was so intense it made my heart ache, in the most beautiful way! There were even moments where tears streamed down my cheeks. (Luckily, no mascara tears thanks to my perfect winged liner – gotta stay fabulous!)

The performance, the atmosphere, the music...it’s no wonder that this opera house has earned its reputation as one of the world's finest! This is a must-visit for anyone coming to Milan. Just book those tickets in advance, you'll thank me later.

Milanese Glamour & a Fashion Feast

Milan. Fashion capital. Enough said. The day was still young, and my love of fashion knows no bounds.

First stop: "10 Corso Como" - this boutique is iconic. This place oozes Parisian chic mixed with Milanese panache. I'm not talking about just clothes - I'm talking about interiors, books, beauty, design…everything here is perfectly curated, even the cafe. Every corner is Instagram-worthy! It’s a total visual feast for a girly girl like me.

And to be completely honest, I could've easily spent a whole day just browsing the fashion. My pink tutu didn’t stand a chance against this sea of haute couture! My heart almost exploded with happiness! The dresses! The shoes! Oh, and the vintage leather jackets - divine. I simply couldn't resist!

If you're into luxury, then this place is for you.

Of course, no visit to Milan is complete without venturing into the charming streets surrounding Via Montenapoleone, Milan’s luxury fashion hub. You simply cannot leave this place without experiencing its atmosphere – there’s a buzz of excitement here unlike anything you’ve felt before!

Window-shopping here is as entertaining as the shows at Teatro alla Scala! From sleek Chanel boutiques to vintage shops brimming with quirky charm, this is my personal heaven.

From High-End Fashion to a Touch of Italian Magic

After hours of fashion indulgence, it was time for a taste of true Milanese magic – the vibrant atmosphere of Mercato di Porta Ticinese.

Imagine the aroma of freshly baked pastries, the tempting sounds of street musicians, and a whirlwind of colourful, hand-stitched scarves and trinkets.

Mercato di Porta Ticinese is not just a market, it's a social experience. You find handmade gifts, unique souvenirs, delicious street food, and the heart and soul of true Milan. This place is always a thrill. I discovered a new shop there too – it's a hidden treasure filled with exquisite silk scarfs, adorned with delicate floral patterns in hues of pink, naturally! It's a place you just have to get lost in, with each stall offering a window into the beauty and artistry of the local scene.

For the grand finale of my Wednesday, I joined a guided walking tour with my trusty pink tutu on.

We wandered down historical alleys, each with their own tale to tell. From the imposing grandeur of Duomo to the intricate beauty of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – every corner reveals another stunning detail of this city’s rich history.

As dusk descended, casting long shadows on the ancient cobblestone streets, I sat in the courtyard of a secret cafe, enjoying a glass of the most incredible Prosecco I've ever tasted, accompanied by my new Italian fashion purchases. I must say, it was an absolutely heavenly end to a beautiful Milanese day.

And remember, darling, life’s too short to wear boring outfits, especially when you can be wearing a pink tutu! 🩰 💖

Until next Monday, darling! Keep sparkling, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
