Pink Tutu Milan - Post #677 - 28th May, 2008
Ciao bella!
From the cobbled streets of Derbyshire to the grand boulevards of Milan, I'm here, your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, ready to share my adventures with you! As you know, my passion for pink, tutus, and everything beautiful knows no bounds. This week, I'm stepping onto the stage of Milan, Italy, and boy, oh boy, is it an absolute dream!
The city has welcomed me with open arms, it's practically pulsating with life! The air buzzes with creativity, fashion, and just a touch of "je ne sais quoi," which is frankly, divine. The city is an intoxicating blend of classical grandeur and cutting-edge style, and trust me, it's got me absolutely hooked.
But let's be honest, why am I here, in Milan? Well, I'm here for the magic, of course! Milan is synonymous with all things fabulous - and as a budding ballerina, a visit here felt essential! I'm determined to soak up every drop of artistic inspiration and dance-related wonder that this fashion and ballet capital has to offer.
Speaking of magic, I can’t resist a trip to the stunning Teatro alla Scala. A historic venue overflowing with history, the sheer scale and grandeur of it left me utterly speechless. This iconic opera house, considered one of the finest in the world, simply emanates elegance and culture. From the magnificent marble staircase to the ornate décor, everything about it screamed "I am pure Italian beauty and artistry". I even had a chance to sit inside the magnificent auditorium itself, imagine the energy!
On a slightly different note, Milan is also a fashionista’s dream come true. I've been indulging my shopping addiction in a serious way - trawling the boutiques and discovering hidden treasures. It’s practically impossible to resist the temptation of Italy’s world-famous leather goods, silk scarves, and chic designer clothes. Plus, you can never have too many tutus, can you? Milan is truly a fashion haven, where each store is like stepping into a curated art gallery. There’s also this delightful trend of open-air markets popping up throughout the city. Imagine finding the perfect antique mirror, a vintage jewellery box, or a stunning porcelain teapot – all in one spot! Talk about an eclectic blend of art and vintage!
As always, I’ve also been navigating the streets and local trams of this vibrant city. The charming locals are incredibly warm, the cobbled streets feel like they whisper stories of centuries past, and the air hums with an infectious, optimistic energy that simply washes over you. Even though I have been here a short while, Milan has become an irresistible haven of my favourite things, blending dance, fashion and European elegance in an utterly magical way. I even stumbled upon a delightful ballet class in a historic studio hidden behind a quaint flower shop. Talk about a perfect mix of beauty and graceful movement! I simply adore this city already.
*And, I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share some more fantastic news! * I was so delighted when a fellow ballerina from the local studio invited me to perform a ballet number for a special charity event at the Teatro San Carlo! That’s right - this upcoming weekend, I will grace the stage, and in a very special pink tutu, of course! I can’t wait to showcase my passion for the art form, while supporting a wonderful cause. I’ve got my eye on this fantastic vintage pink tulle tutu, I found it in a small boutique. I'm thinking it’ll be a real statement piece. Fingers crossed!
Oh, don’t forget I’m back here in Milan all week and then heading back to Derby next week, where I will be dancing on Thursday in a magical open-air theatre - something very special. Stay tuned, I will have more to report later. Until then, remember - it’s never too late to start wearing pink tutus. Go on, try it - you’ll love it!
Ciao bella, and happy dancing!
