Pink Tutu Milan: Post 686 - Wednesday, 2008-07-30

Ciao, darlings!

It's Wednesday, and as you know, that means a new post from me, your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, right here from the beautiful city of Milan! I'm feeling so very Milanese today, it's a bit difficult to describe. Imagine, if you will, the perfect blend of sophisticated fashion, delicious food, elegant architecture, and the buzz of city life – that's Milan in a nutshell. And let me tell you, it's intoxicating!

This week, my journey through Milan has taken a couple of interesting turns, leading me down a few charming alleyways, and into some fascinating places. It's the beauty of spontaneous exploration that keeps me coming back to this enchanting city – you never know what treasure you'll find around the corner.

Fashion, Shopping & Pink Tutus: Oh My!

Now, let's talk fashion, my beloved darlings! You know how much I adore clothes, especially when it comes to finding the perfect pink tutu, but even more so in a city like Milan, the undisputed capital of style! This week has been a delightful whirlwind of discovering new designers, falling in love with intricate fabrics, and finding those elusive pieces that scream "Milan" from every thread.

On Monday, I had a chance to pop into the new MaxMara flagship store. You can't escape their stylish coats, especially their signature camel-toned ones! I have to confess, a gorgeous cashmere trench coat with delicate rose detailing (in pink, naturally!) is calling my name...

On Tuesday, I spent a lovely morning in the heart of the fashion district, strolling along Via della Spiga and Via Montenapoleone, the chicest streets in all of Milan! You know I adore the vibrant colours, and my heart did a little flip-flop every time I caught sight of a new pink tutu ensemble. Imagine, darling, a graceful pink tulle ballerina skirt with a crisp white blouse, worn with a chic blazer. It’s enough to make a girl swoon!

Ballet on the Brink

Let’s get back to ballet, though. As a professional dancer, ballet is a core part of my life, even when I'm miles away from my usual stage. You’d be surprised how easy it is to find fantastic performances and events even here in Milan.

Tuesday evening, I found myself immersed in the captivating world of classical ballet at the Teatro alla Scala. Imagine, darling, the iconic building, the air thick with anticipation, the exquisite dancers – it was an absolute treat. I particularly enjoyed the opening act with the lead dancer, a graceful ballerina who could rival a hummingbird with her exquisite movements. A delightful and enchanting performance that kept me on the edge of my seat, completely absorbed by the magic unfolding onstage.

Speaking of performances, you’d be surprised how often I stumble upon small, unexpected performances on my walks around the city. The other day, a street corner musician started playing a melody that resonated with my soul, reminding me of the sweet sounds of the cello and how the soft plucking of the strings brought an inner peace. You know, I might be able to bring this sound to my next show... I wonder how my pink tutu would go with a cello!

Travel by Tram and Train: A Pink Tutu Journey

Of course, no visit to Milan is complete without a ride on the historic trams. They're a sight to behold! These beauties add such charm to the city with their gleaming yellow facades, and the constant rattling as they wind through the narrow cobblestone streets is the most pleasant sound. And let me tell you, they’re the most fantastic way to get around! I’m not sure if they notice the ballerina in the corner, but it seems my pink tutu brings smiles and friendly greetings from locals on my journeys.

The trains are just as much fun – a quick and efficient way to discover even more of Milan and its surroundings. I'm itching to explore the countryside with its breathtaking vineyards and charming villages, the perfect place for a leisurely picnic in my favourite pink tutu.

A Dash of Delight & Derbyshire Dreams

Let's face it, Milan has a way of stealing your heart. I often catch myself looking out the train window at the sprawling buildings, the shimmering water canals reflecting the city's beauty, or admiring the breathtaking vistas from the top of the Duomo.

It makes me feel connected to my roots back home in Derbyshire. The English countryside might be different, but both Derbyshire and Milan hold a special place in my heart. Even with the fast-paced energy of this city, I’m never too far away from thinking of rolling green fields and the calm quiet of the English countryside. But hey, at least my tutu can bring a little bit of whimsy wherever I travel!

A Glimpse into Tomorrow

This weekend, I'll be exploring the picturesque Navigli, those stunning canals where romantic bridges meet with bustling nightlife. They say there's an irresistible atmosphere at night, and I just have to experience it!

Then, on Sunday, I'm heading to the "Salone del Mobile" to soak in all the beautiful, new furniture designs. My ballerina heart just has to get inspired by creativity in all forms, you know? And let’s not forget the delightful gelato and cappuccinos – pure bliss for my tastebuds!

So, darling, this is the life of a pink tutu-loving ballerina! It’s an adventure of discovering hidden treasures, exploring the beauty of the world, and finding joy in every new experience. I can't wait to share more of my Milanese escapades with you, so don’t forget to check back next week. Until then, embrace your own style, twirl around with abandon, and let your pink tutu bring some joy to your world!

Ciao!

Emma
