Hello lovelies! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, and I'm back with a blooming post from fabulous Milan! This week has been an absolute dream, packed with stunning sights, splendid shopping, and oh, the ballet, darling!
As you know, this is my weekly Milan blog, and it’s been quite a rollercoaster ride of delights! For those of you new here, I'm Emma, a ballerina from Derbyshire, and my mission in life is to get everyone wearing a pink tutu!
Now, where was I? Oh yes! My journey to Milan began on a blustery Wednesday, the 3rd of December. The train carriage was filled with the clatter of luggage and the exciting chatter of fellow travellers - always such a wonderful energy when you're about to embark on a grand adventure.
And believe me, Milan certainly delivered on the grand front.
Arriving at Milano Centrale station, the iconic red and white terracotta roof welcomed me with open arms. My heart beat a little faster with excitement - Milan is one of my favourite cities, full of beautiful architecture, stylish people and a buzzing energy that simply captivates!
I made my way to my adorable little hotel near the Duomo, all pink frills and vintage charm (and surprisingly affordable too!) and settled in with a glass of Italian sparkling - it felt like a celebration of life in this amazing city!
Wednesday Night Ballet Dreams: La Scala
Speaking of celebrations, that night was all about ballet! It was a magical night at the Teatro alla Scala! Oh, the pageantry, darling! You simply cannot imagine the stunning grandeur and history that emanates from this magnificent venue.
The show was a classic Donizetti opera “L’elisir d’amore”, accompanied by beautiful sets and amazing costumes.
The entire theatre buzzed with anticipation, and as the curtain rose, I found myself utterly transported by the music, the passion of the dancing, and the pure theatre magic that filled the air. It was absolutely phenomenal!
Even just being in the La Scala atmosphere was enough to set my soul alight. The* incredible architecture, the *beautiful people, the delicious snacks, the whiff of perfumery from the ladies... All the ingredients that make a night at the ballet a true theatrical indulgence!
As I walked out of the theatre after the show, my heart felt full of joy and wonder.
The* magic* of ballet truly inspires, moves and uplifts me like nothing else!
Thursday’s Delights: Shopping & a Stroll
Thursday started with a* delightful breakfast* at my hotel (with a little pink sparkling juice for good measure, of course!), before a spirited day of exploring and shopping.
I love the architecture of Milan! All the cathedrals, historic palaces and beautiful buildings. You can walk around for hours, and each corner unveils another captivating surprise!
The fashion scene is my true weakness though! I simply must venture into a few boutiques each visit!
You could not imagine the breathtaking shops! And oh, those delicious clothes. I treated myself to a soft cashmere cardigan and a gorgeous pair of floral ballet shoes - absolutely perfect for adding a bit of girlish charm to my outfits.
After my shopping spree, I strolled along Via Dante with a fresh-cut bunch of pink roses that I found at a little market (so pretty!) . The shops were buzzing, and I love observing the Milanese style. They really understand that touch of effortless chic, you know?
Milan's vibrant energy always leaves me wanting to run around, laugh and simply savor the beauty of life!
A Glittering Friday Night: Fashion Shows
Friday night in Milan is all about fashion! It’s time for fabulous runway shows and the thrill of watching the newest collections come to life!
Milan's fashion week always brings the best of the best, and I couldn't resist the glitter and glamour. I decided to wear my newest purchase – a silk scarf with delicate gold embroidery - and feel like a true Milanese princess!
The* fashion* I saw tonight left me speechless. There was exquisite embroidery, dazzling fabrics, and so many creatively beautiful designs. The* vibrant colours, *bold cuts, and dramatic presentation took me straight into another dimension. It was a night to celebrate fashion as art, and it was utterly spectacular!
This was just what I needed to fuel my pink tutu spirit! Fashion is truly about expressing oneself, being bold and brave with your choices, and embracing the individuality that makes you stand out from the crowd.
It's that free spirit that Pink Tutu Milan is all about! Life is a runway, and it’s up to us to make it spectacular!
A Sweet Sunday Brunch & A Heart Full of Milan
My Sunday began with a delightful brunch at a cafe tucked away on a cobblestone side street. The atmosphere was cosy and warm, and the smell of fresh croissants and hot coffee was just what I needed after the long weekend.
I watched as families enjoyed their Sunday morning together, and loved seeing the* children laughing* and playing around their parents. There was a real sense of joy in the air, something I think we all need to embrace more often!
After brunch, I decided to take a walk through a park close to the Duomo - another beautiful example of Milan's architectural wonder. I was drawn to a fountain where children were playing, and felt my heart fill with joy and warmth.
Sunday in Milan felt peaceful and relaxed, the perfect ending to a weekend filled with magical experiences.
As I walked through the charming streets towards my train station, I thought back on all the splendid moments of this trip. The ballet at La Scala, the dazzling fashion shows, the romantic strolls along cobblestone streets, the friendly faces, the exquisite shops, and even the little joys of simple, everyday moments.
Milan never fails to amaze, inspire, and captivate my heart with its unique energy and immense beauty.
This city is made for dreamers, and its magic lives on long after I've left!
Next stop: Paris! I'm already counting down the days to the next Pink Tutu adventure!
