Pink Tutu Milan - Post 736: Ciao Bella! It's all about the pink in Milan

Buongiorno, my darling dears! It's Wednesday, 15th July 2009, and Emma's back in Milan, feeling absolutely fab in my favourite pink tutu! You know I just had to make it back here after my trip to Paris. The atmosphere in Milan just pulls me in - the energy is electric! There's a sense of sophistication, a flair for the dramatic, and, of course, a complete love affair with everything fashion. I'm sure I’m not alone in feeling the same! It’s just infectious, isn’t it? I'm here, like always, for my weekly dose of all things ballet and to share the experience with you, my gorgeous pink tutu tribe. I can't imagine a world without sharing this journey.

This week has been utterly wonderful - an amazing blur of ballet, fashion and discovering hidden corners of this fabulous city. Let’s kick things off with an all-new Italian experience - the Milan Tram, that's right folks, it's an old-fashioned, romantic and incredibly efficient form of transport, but seriously – who needs a car, right? The journey alone is worth it for a sneak peak of city life through the window, the sound of laughter, music, a whiff of something delicious from the street markets and the vibrant colours of the people that just pull me in!

Ballet Under the Stars - La Scala Gardens

Yesterday I stepped onto a magical scene straight from a fairytale, a breath-taking ballet performance in the heart of Milan in the majestic La Scala Gardens. The atmosphere was electric - everyone dressed to the nines, and there I was in my pink tutu of course, ready for an unforgettable evening. And it didn't disappoint!

It was a spectacular night for balletomanes! The dancing was exquisite, the dancers so incredibly talented, it's impossible to put into words, the music had me in tears! They have an opera festival at this time every year – I can’t wait to get a ticket! The star of the show? The moon, illuminating the dancers from above, as they twirled and leaped with absolute joy! I have to share, this was just divine! If you have a chance, do it. Don’t just watch, experience. A real moment of magic in this beautiful city, a true love story in every turn.

I love sharing my moments in beautiful places with all of you, it means so much. Let's face it, the best thing about going to places like Milan is to just immerse myself in the culture, soak it all in and of course, to get the ultimate pink tutu wardrobe fix!

Pink Tutu Couture: Finding The Perfect Italian Flair

Milan, as I mentioned is the epitome of fashion and let’s be honest it’s not complete without an incredible pink tutu moment or two - I’m serious! It’s not every day I get to wander through shops like Gucci or Dolce & Gabbana. Imagine, beautiful dresses, shimmering silk, the finest Italian craftsmanship, all for me, oh the joy! Of course, I’m a firm believer in shopping for my favourite pieces while exploring the hidden little corners and independent boutiques. There is nothing more divine than a little treasure hunt. This trip, I have a weakness for a good floral print and silk scarfs in colours that scream "I’m in Milan, darling".

Today, my plan? Get to that vintage shop in Brera for some pink tutu accessories - that place is heaven - it's just packed with everything I'm looking for - headbands, shoes, little trinkets and something quite remarkable (and completely unexpected) I spotted last week!

A Delicious Dinner, an Italian Favourite, Pasta Alla Carbonara

No trip to Italy would be complete without indulging in the best cuisine, and the food scene in Milan is something to write home about. Oh, how I love to enjoy delicious pasta. There is truly nothing more amazing than pasta and wine at the end of a long day, a perfect meal after an exhilarating day. It's the ultimate feel-good.

This week I have treated myself to some of the best local dishes and the best, the best part, you can enjoy them with a smile - I’ve loved my meals in these hidden little local restaurants off the main streets. No tourist traps in sight! Milan is famous for its Pasta Alla Carbonara and what a mouthwatering experience! That was yesterday! Today it's my favourite: Pizza Margherita! The simple, yet perfect. Just a burst of delicious fresh mozzarella. I love it!

So, as you can see, life here is pretty much perfect and so I will leave you today with this - embrace all that is you. Embrace the joy. I just have one wish – the world filled with pink tutus. I hope you are having a fabulous day and I can't wait to share my next adventures here in Milan! Don't forget to catch up with me next week!

With love and tutus!

Emma

P.S

I've had an email from someone asking me what I like to do on my trips. Here’s my honest thoughts:

I have an uncanny ability to connect with people! People love pink tutus, seriously! You know me and my obsession, I’ll try anything, wear anything once.

I’ve even danced in a tram.

It was utterly hilarious – and people stopped, stared, smiled and just burst out laughing. It just goes to show the joy of bringing a little bit of fun into everyday life. It was absolutely worth it!

It’s just such a joy to get outside and just enjoy life - even if you have no pink tutu.

You know, I am always looking for that one pink tutu person, that soulmate! Maybe it will happen here. You can see all my adventures, photos and experiences in Milan on my blog www.pink-tutu.com!

I'll be posting weekly so make sure you stop by, you can even write to me, I’ll always reply – the Pink Tutu email, everyone needs one!

Don't forget, you can follow Emma on her journey!
