Pink Tutu Milan - #743 - Wednesday 2009-09-02 🩰💕🇮🇹

Ciao Bella! 👋

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, my fellow tutu enthusiasts! It's me, Emma, your ever-so-slightly-obsessed pink tutu aficionado, reporting live from the glorious, vibrant city of Milan!

The air here is filled with the aroma of fresh pastries, the rhythm of the city pulsates through the cobblestone streets, and, most importantly, the energy of this fabulous fashion capital electrifies my very core. Milan truly does embrace its "fashion city" title, and my heart skips a beat every time I step outside!

This week, I'm focusing on the art of "going out", both in the way of ballet, naturally, and just experiencing the city like a true Milanese fashionista. I think my tutu wardrobe is about to have a major upgrade! 😉

My week so far...

  • Monday: The train journey from Derbyshire to Milano Centrale was absolutely thrilling! I couldn't help but feel like I was starring in my own fairytale - travelling to a distant land, ready for an adventure. Of course, my pink tutu made an appearance on the journey - a symbol of joy and adventure even on a bustling train ride!

  • Tuesday: My heart skipped a beat when I stepped onto the cobblestones of this breathtaking city! My first adventure? A tour of the Teatro alla Scala, an architectural masterpiece dedicated to opera and ballet. I was simply speechless at the sheer grandeur and opulence of it all! Standing in that theatre, surrounded by its history, I could feel the echo of countless performances, the whispers of famous dancers. A shiver ran down my spine - a magical moment!

And guess what? They had a gorgeous little shop, full of costumes and souvenirs. I just had to buy a pretty silver and gold pin with the iconic La Scala symbol. It's adorning my new sparkly tutu right now, and it's like wearing a little bit of Milan magic!

  • Wednesday: This was a day dedicated to indulging in some retail therapy! From glamorous department stores to independent boutiques, Milan truly has it all. My pink tutu certainly made a statement as I sashayed through the boutiques, leaving a trail of sparkles in my wake. 😉

I scored the most exquisite pink lace dress - delicate, romantic, and utterly perfect for a Parisian café date (or perhaps even a romantic ballet performance? cough cough). And a pair of fabulous rose-gold high-heeled shoes – what a pair of beauties! I just know I’ll find a perfect occasion for these stunning heels soon!

Tonight's performance:

Tonight, I’m seeing the Aida opera! This beautiful spectacle will take me into the world of Ancient Egypt, full of grandeur, love, and betrayal! Can’t wait to be captivated by the costumes and choreography! I've got my sparkly, blush-coloured tutu ready and waiting for this fabulous evening. My friend Sarah's coming with me. She's quite new to ballet but she does seem to be taking a liking to the idea of pink tutus! Maybe she'll be inspired to wear one of her own, who knows!

Why do I wear pink tutus?

It's the little things, you know? Seeing a little girl's eyes light up when she spots my pink tutu. Or a fellow ballet lover giving me a knowing nod, as if to say, "I get you!" It's the spark of joy I try to spread. Maybe it’s the feeling of being a ballerina princess, just a little bit more, I don't know! But the joy and the feeling it brings, is something I can’t explain! And besides, wearing pink just makes everything more beautiful, don’t you think?

Fashion Focus!

Now, let's talk about the Milanese fashion scene. It's absolutely vibrant!

  • Milan Fashion Week: Sadly, it's finished this week. The air buzzes with energy, every street feels like a runway! This city never ceases to inspire. The people are stylish, the fashion is cutting-edge, and I am just utterly mesmerized. So much inspiration, it almost hurts my head!

    • The latest trends: Milan seems to be embracing vibrant colours, luxurious textures, and playful silhouettes. I saw some stunning dresses with floral embroidery, perfectly complementing the city’s beauty.

    • Milan Fashion in My Style: It’s all about creating a personal style. I might add a little 'ballet inspired’ detail to a more 'urban chic' outfit. Maybe a small touch of pink, a little tulle on the skirt, or some subtle sequins. My pink tutu has made an appearance at every museum, park, café and even my hotel breakfast!

Trams and Taxis - City Transportation:

This city is surprisingly easy to navigate. Tram journeys, in particular, are my new favorite form of transport! It's like experiencing a moving window into the heart of the city, with stunning views. The elegant interiors of Milan's tram system are beautiful. Sometimes, I feel I’m in a stylish moving salon!

And let’s not forget the taxis! Those iconic black cabs with their yellow lights are almost as glamorous as the fashion!

Don’t forget to follow me!

This is just a glimpse into my Milan adventure. Come along with me next week for more of my travel antics! Keep an eye out for next week’s blog on my website www.pink-tutu.com every Monday, where I share my journey from my tiny corner of the world to your screen!

Until then, don't forget to embrace your inner ballerina. Whether you're wearing a full tutu, a pink ribbon, or just a dash of pink in your outfit, let your inner spark shine!

See you next week!

P.S. I’ve been thinking of running a contest on the site, and it seems perfect to have it on this occasion!

If you are visiting Milan soon and want a pink tutu-themed adventure, email me by Sunday at pink-tutu.com. I will select a winner next week. Who knows? You may see me in the crowds! 😉
