Pink Tutu Milan: #774 – Ciao Bella from the Fashion Capital!

Wednesday 7th April 2010

Buongiorno, darling darlings! It's Emma here, back with another dazzling dispatch from the fabulous city of Milan. You wouldn't believe what's been going on - from fabulous fashion to breath-taking ballet, it's been a whirlwind!

My little pink tutu has been spinning non-stop as I've been exploring this incredible city! Oh, the cobbled streets, the vibrant energy, and the sheer chicness of it all - it's utterly intoxicating. Honestly, Milan is giving me major fashion envy!

Ballet & Bella Italia:

Yesterday, I went to see "La Bayadère" at the magnificent Teatro alla Scala, Milan's world-renowned opera house. Just stepping inside felt like I was walking onto a stage in a grand fairytale. The intricate gilded ceilings, the plush velvet seats - it was utterly captivating! And the ballet itself, oh my! It was a visual feast! The costumes were a rainbow of luxurious fabrics and shimmering beads. You could almost hear the gasp of the audience as each graceful dancer floated across the stage.

Shopping 'Til I Drop!

But let's talk shopping - this is Milan, after all! I could lose myself in the luxury boutiques lining Via Montenapoleone, browsing everything from exquisite gowns to designer handbags. Today, my sweet tutu took me on a vintage spree. Oh, the treasures I found in the hidden corners of the Navigli district. I snagged a beautiful pair of silk gloves with intricate lace detailing and a vintage straw hat with a delicate pink feather. I simply had to!

The Tram's My New Runway

Milan is an absolutely fabulous city to navigate by tram. I find it's the perfect way to see all the sights. I absolutely love sitting in a sunny window seat, watching the world go by, soaking up the city's atmosphere and people-watching! And there's nothing more empowering than striding off a tram in my pink tutu, confidently facing the world.

Tutu-fied Tips for Travelling with a Pink Tutu

Being a ballerina on the move means always packing strategically. So here are my tips for carrying your tulle-tastic companion:

  1. Pack It Like a Pro: Invest in a spacious and sturdy garment bag or case. The fabric shouldn't be too rough or it can snag the delicate tulle.

  2. Always Ready to Perform: A foldable mini iron is a lifesaver. Even with the most meticulous packing, sometimes the delicate fabric of a tutu needs a quick smooth!

  3. Foldable Shoe Bag: If your pointe shoes need a special kind of bag or have specific needs for keeping their shape, use a foldable travel-sized bag for shoes.

  4. Keep It Fresh!: A portable lavender scented hand wash will keep your tutu smelling beautiful, especially after being packed up in a travel bag.

  5. Don't Forget Your Make-up! Always bring your stage makeup, particularly blush and lipstick for those spontaneous moments when you want to rock a pink tutu look!

A Quick Peek into My Past Performances

As I mentioned, my journey to Milan is funded by the beautiful magic of ballet. Last week, I performed "The Sleeping Beauty" in Derby. You would not believe the standing ovation we received! Such beautiful people filled with the joy of the ballet! This journey is all about chasing dreams, spreading joy and reminding people that every day can be a beautiful performance!

Before I leave you today, remember - Pink is my jam! And what's better than a fabulous outfit? That's right - everyone in a pink tutu! So join me on this wonderful journey. Emma
