Pink Tutu Milan: Post #783 - Wednesday, 2010-06-09 - The Enchanting Ballet of Milan

Ciao, darling!

It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, beaming from the bustling streets of Milan! As you all know, Monday to Friday is for my darling Derbyshire, but Wednesdays are all about Pink Tutu Milan!

The train journey down was, as usual, a delightful ballet of its own. The Italian landscapes whizzing by were painted in vibrant hues of emerald and gold, and I had to resist the urge to leap up and pirouette on the train carriage floor! Luckily, I managed to keep my graceful pirouettes to the confines of my own mind – my pink tutu wouldn't have been particularly conducive to polite train travel, no matter how spectacular the views.

Anyway, Milan… Oh, Milan! It's a whirlwind of vibrant colours, delectable smells, and, most importantly, fashion, fashion, fashion!

Since arriving in this glorious city, I've been on a mission to explore every single shop. It’s been a relentless (and absolutely exhilarating!) dance of fitting rooms and endless rows of stunning garments. You see, darling, I simply cannot resist the lure of a beautiful dress, a shimmering scarf, or a pair of killer heels!

My current obsession? The colour turquoise! It’s like a dazzling breath of fresh air against the chic, neutral hues that Milan is so famous for. I’ve already found myself a pair of exquisitely-stitched turquoise ballerina flats - they're the perfect complement to my pink tutu collection, if I do say so myself!

Of course, Milan is about much more than just clothes (though they do play a rather crucial role!). This week, I'm completely enthralled by the city's stunning ballet scene! Yesterday evening, I graced the hallowed halls of La Scala – what a treat!

The ballet was an utterly captivating story, a passionate romance set against a backdrop of delicate artistry and breathtaking choreography. It took me back to my childhood dreams, back to when all I could dream of was leaping onto the stage and making magic with my tutu.

Speaking of magical dreams, I have a date with destiny at the Teatro alla Scala today. Yes, darling! I’m about to get my tutus and my tastebuds tantalized at a truly delightful ballet event. The city’s oldest theater, Teatro alla Scala, is not just about the drama unfolding on the stage - it’s about the delicious artistry that seeps into every corner of the building. The opulent gold details, the rich velvety carpets, and even the swirling aroma of history itself all add to the sheer delight of the performance.

I’m especially looking forward to the pre-ballet aperitivo - I've heard it's the most delightful way to whet your appetite, not just for the upcoming performance, but also for a whole evening of pure pleasure. They serve mouth-watering delicacies, crisp Italian prosecco, and the chatter of passionate balletomanes, like myself, all in a charmingly chaotic fashion that feels like a party already in full swing!

So, my lovely darlings, my Milan adventures have only just begun. Tomorrow, I plan to explore the Milanese ballet schools and studios. And who knows what kind of wonderful tutus I might discover tucked away in some little boutique? You’ll be the first to know!

But for now, I must hurry – the magic of Teatro alla Scala awaits. Keep those tutus twirling!

And remember, as always: pink is not just a colour, it's a way of life!

Your Emma,

Pink Tutu Milan
