Pink Tutu Milan - #782 - 2010-06-02
Buongiorno, my darling dears! It's Emma here, writing to you live from the fashion capital of the world, Milan, where the streets are a runway and the shops are bursting with sartorial delights! I'm wearing my most fabulous pink tutu, naturally, and I feel like a real-life ballerina swanning through this gorgeous city.
It's Wednesday, 2nd June, 2010, and I've got a diary bursting with pinktastic adventures. This week I'm here to experience all the artistic and fashionable goodness that Milan has to offer.
Remember last week when I mentioned that my darling friend Sarah from my Derbyshire ballet troupe was here on a solo trip to Milan? Well, guess who I bumped into on the tram yesterday?! Yep, you guessed it! Sarah, looking positively dazzling in a mint-green silk dress and matching ballet pumps, with a sassy straw hat perched perfectly on her head. We grabbed a steaming espresso and shared all the juicy details of our trips so far. Sarah is a big fashion enthusiast, she’s a shoe fanatic and loves vintage clothing, and you can imagine my excitement when she showed me a vintage Parisian beret that she had just bought. It was utterly exquisite and the perfect finishing touch to her outfit!
It's amazing how we, despite being a little world's apart, share the same passion for finding incredible treasures tucked away in unexpected corners.
This morning I went to a special balletic yoga session in a hidden park nestled in the heart of the city. The sun was streaming through the trees, bathing us in golden light, and it felt like the most blissful escape. The gentle stretching movements were accompanied by calming music, and the sounds of nature surrounding us. My body was thanking me for this relaxing, energizing treat after all my travelling around! I felt as though I could conquer anything!
But you know me, darling! I don't stop there!
On a Pinktastic Fashion Mission!
This afternoon, I'm embarking on a pink shopping adventure, hunting for the perfect summer dress for the upcoming balletic performance season. Imagine a cascading pink gown, billowing gently like a summer breeze, accented with shimmering sequins and the softest blush of satin, paired with a chic pair of pink ballet shoes. Now that is a look worthy of the grandest stage! And Milan is the perfect hunting ground for that very look. I can’t wait! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can find that beautiful blush pink fabric I found last week at that charming little shop in the market in Corso Como.
Tonight, Milan's enchanting ballet scene comes alive! I've snagged tickets to a mesmerising production of Giselle at the Teatro alla Scala. A magical ballet! Just picturing it all! The swirling tutus, the powerful leaps, the romantic whispers of the orchestra, it's pure enchantment. And guess what? It features the most beautiful ballet dancer I've ever seen! It's a shame she's not in my age bracket! But you can never have enough role models. sighs dreamily
Oh, and did I mention the dinner plans? I’m going for a delightful culinary escapade with my fellow tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed, Italian friend Isabella. She's a beautiful girl and she knows where all the best hidden restaurants and gelato shops in Milan are!
Of course, no adventure in Milan would be complete without tram travels! The city's network of trams weaves its way through every corner, providing a delightful view of the city's everyday charm. From the grandeur of the Duomo to the charming hidden piazzas, I'll be documenting my adventures every step of the way with a new pink tutu photo every single day!
I'll be writing a whole blog post about pink tutu dressing and shopping tips on Sunday.
Remember, my loves, life's too short to be anything but pink. So put on your brightest pink tutu, throw on your favourite pair of ballet flats and let's dance our way through life, hand in hand, together!

P.S. Let me know what you think! Do you agree that Milan is the fashion capital of the world? Tell me, darlings, where's your dream fashion destination?
P.P.S Just a little reminder. My adventures are funded entirely by performing balletic work in theatres across the world, both street and theatre. I love performing! It's such a rush being on stage! And the costumes! What costumes! If you ever need to hire a talented ballerina - I'm available. (Especially if the costumes are pink). I also love finding and creating little routines to showcase at local fairs and town events in the Derbyshire Peak District - if that is something you may need - I would love to hear from you! Just email me via my website - www.pink-tutu.com or visit the Contact page!
I can't wait to share all my wonderful travels with you again next Monday!
