Pink Tutu Milan: #781 - Ciao Bella! Milan's a Dream! 🩰✨🇮🇹

Wednesday, 2010-05-26

Hello darlings!

It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, reporting live from Milan, Italy! 🇮🇹 The city of fashion, culture, and oh so much delicious gelato. I've been here for just a few days now, and I already feel like I'm living in a dream.

It all began in Derbyshire, where, as you know, I'm always on the lookout for my next adventure. One particularly inspiring ballet performance in my hometown, with the sweet melody of the violins still echoing in my ears, the thought struck me - what about Milan? My little heart fluttered, because Milan, well, it’s synonymous with fashion! And you can’t talk about fashion without acknowledging its muse: ballet. And, let’s be honest, tutus just belong in a place as vibrant and glamorous as Milan!

So, here I am, in this extraordinary city. This time, the journey here was extra special. I decided to travel in style (of course!) and hopped on the Eurostar, a train journey that transformed into a magical carriage ride through the English countryside and then straight into the heart of France. I arrived in Milan late last night, the streets twinkling with lights like a fairy tale come true. My pink tutu may have been packed safely in my suitcase, but let me tell you, I was bursting with excitement.

This week's post marks the start of my Milan escapade, and it's going to be packed full of fashion, food, and, of course, the most exquisite ballet performances you can imagine!

First stop - the Duomo! A breathtaking structure that seems to touch the sky, it’s a cathedral built with exquisite detail that I could admire for hours on end. But as it was late afternoon, and my stomach started rumbling, I knew it was time to embrace a bit of Italian charm. It’s a universal language! 😉

The city pulsated with life, buzzing with street musicians, trendy boutiques, and restaurants filled with laughter. After all, what’s a ballet dancer’s best friend? Pasta, of course! And boy, do they know their pasta here! A delicate tangle of angel hair tossed with fresh, fragrant tomato sauce? Pure heaven. 🍝

As dusk descended, the city was painted with warm hues of orange and gold. The magic of Milan, just like a beautiful ballerina performance, unfolded as I wandered down narrow, cobbled streets lined with lampposts that looked like jewels scattered across the pavement.

Tonight, I’m headed to a ballet performance at the Teatro alla Scala - Milan’s iconic opera house. It's known as one of the most prestigious theatres in the world. I have a feeling tonight is going to be something truly special!

Of course, I couldn’t come all the way to Milan without paying homage to the world of Italian fashion. My heart practically skipped a beat as I entered the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a stunning arcade of fashion houses, sparkling lights, and exquisite displays.

My first purchase? A divine pink clutch bag adorned with sparkling crystals, the perfect companion for my pink tutu. The delicate scent of Italian leather lingered in the air, making my senses dizzy with joy! And, just as the perfect ballerina outfit needs an elegant accessory, I couldn't leave without indulging in a beautifully handcrafted, soft pink, delicate ballet slipper key chain. The perfect reminder of my time in this incredible city!

As my adventure continues in Milan, I’m determined to immerse myself in the local culture. And that’s no ordinary phrase in my case. Oh no! Today, I’ve signed up for a ballet class right in the heart of Milan! My teacher, Signora Lucia, was a ballerina in the 80s! Can you believe it? Such an incredible opportunity to learn from a seasoned dancer. Even though she was a formidable ballerina, Signora Lucia was so sweet and patient. We had an absolute blast learning graceful moves in a quaint, vintage studio filled with beautiful mirrors. I was mesmerized watching Signora Lucia’s movements as she demonstrated the moves. She moves like water, and each pose was a masterpiece of graceful strength and precision!

After class, we went for espresso at a little café near the studio. It was like a scene from a movie, complete with vintage furniture and the aroma of strong coffee wafting through the air. Signora Lucia told me all about Milan's history and her experience as a dancer, sharing anecdotes about famous ballets and legendary dancers. What an afternoon!

Right now, I’m enjoying the sunset on the balcony of my quaint hotel. The cityscape stretches out before me, a tapestry of brick buildings, elegant towers, and terracotta rooftops. I have to say, Milan truly is an artistic treasure trove, where beauty reigns in every corner. It reminds me, every ballet performance is a celebration of beauty and passion. The way each graceful movement is artfully crafted. A breathtaking story told through the expressive language of ballet, captured in a single moment!

I’m getting excited for my day tomorrow, which includes more exploring! The itinerary for my trip includes discovering Milan’s art scene at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna - a place where I know my pink tutu will look fabulous! 🩰

As the day fades into twilight, I’m already planning how to capture all the beauty of Milan and share it with you all in my next blog. So be sure to visit www.pink-tutu.com on Monday for the next edition of “Pink Tutu Milan” where we’ll have more stunning photos, new outfits, and insights into my ever-growing obsession with pink tutus!

And always, keep dancing!
