Pink Tutu Milan: A Week of Whirlwinds! (Post #818)

Ciao, darling dancers! It's Emma here, your trusty Pink Tutu correspondent, back from another whirlwind week in Milano. Oh, darling, what a week! Fashion, fabulousness, and (of course!) tutus…it was all just too much.

Before we get into the thick of things, a little news flash – this little pink bird will be flapping her wings off to sunny Spain next week! Barcelona, you beautiful city…we’ve got a date with destiny! I'll be back on Monday, 21st, to regale you with tales of tapas and flamenco. But for now, let’s delve into Milan’s fabulous world, shall we?

Fashionista Frenzy: Milan Fashion Week

Darling, this was no ordinary week in Milano! Fashion Week descended upon the city, turning it into a whirlwind of silk, satin and sparkling smiles. I must confess, it was like stepping into a dreamscape…all swirling fabric, towering stilettos, and champagne that flowed like liquid gold.

Now, you all know that this little ballerina's true love is pink, and Milano certainly didn’t disappoint. Think pink silk blouses paired with sassy leopard print trousers, pink tulle frocks dancing in the breeze, and even pink handbags that wouldn’t look out of place on a ballerina’s shoulder! (I snagged a few myself, you know – for good measure.)

Oh, but don’t think this fashion fest was all about extravagance! I caught a glimpse of the new season’s styles, and it looks like practicality meets chic. This is where it gets exciting! I saw designs where bold colours and unexpected cuts were paired with sleek lines.

My favorite discovery, and this might just surprise you, was the comeback of the tutu. I know what you’re thinking, “But darling, haven't you worn enough tutus?.” You bet! But, get this – designers are incorporating these delicate skirts into modern wear, transforming them into everyday masterpieces! Imagine, if you will, a long, swirling, powder-pink tutu, teamed with a sleek black jumper… chefs kiss! That is effortlessly elegant, and a perfect look for the upcoming season. (Yes, you guessed it, I may have bought one for myself.)

A Ballet Bliss: La Scala Theatre

You simply can’t visit Milano without seeing a ballet at La Scala. I must tell you, it’s divine. Think of the grandeur, the history… the perfection. The theatre itself is something out of a fairytale. The air thrums with anticipation before the curtain even rises!

This week, I had the immense pleasure of witnessing the breathtaking ballet of Sleeping Beauty. Oh, the artistry was captivating. The dancing was spellbinding! And, yes, even a little Pink Tutu spotted the newest fashion trend for ballet - pink pointe shoes. I have a confession though…the stage, it seemed like an entirely different world…one where the stars shine the brightest and the gracefulness is…unrivaled.

Trams and Trenitalia: A Parisian Affair

Milano's tram system is truly amazing. It’s not just efficient but also quite picturesque! It’s like stepping onto a moving gallery, zipping through the city’s heart. And, I’ve been known to dance on a tram… just a tiny little arabesque, perhaps?

My next adventure took me aboard a Trenitalia train, whisking me away on a day trip to Turin. (Where I went on a tutu-wearing shopping spree…yes, even Turin knows a good tutu!) But let me tell you, I found something magical about the journey, darling!

You see, as I travelled along the rails, the countryside flitted past, like beautiful, shimmering, ballet scenes...green fields danced with swaying wildflowers, and rivers mirrored the sun's warm kiss... it was blissful. It made me feel like I was a character in some sort of charming fairy tale, especially since I had on my beautiful, pink tulle skirt. (After all, a ballerina's gotta wear a tutu everywhere.)

Finding My Centre: Milano's Ballet Schools

Darling, a ballerina must always be improving her skills. So, I enrolled in a couple of workshops at the beautiful ballet schools here in Milano. It's been exhilarating to feel those muscles wake up again.

From the moment you step into the studio, the energy is inspiring! The studios have high ceilings, wooden floors… everything a dancer’s dream. And it was lovely to learn new routines from the instructors. And let’s be honest, darling, a little extra training is good for this pink tutu girl… so much fabulousness in Milano!

Dinner Time: Milano’s Culinary Charms

Well, you can’t talk about Milano without a little aperitivo. And honestly, darling, what's a pink ballerina to do when surrounded by fabulousness except to go out with friends? Milano's vibrant culinary scene has something to offer everyone.

I especially loved strolling along the Navigli canals in the evening. Imagine…cobblestone streets, charming little cafes with strings of lights twinkling, and a gorgeous view of the city skyline! It was the perfect setting for enjoying a leisurely, delectable dinner. The wine was like a light waltz… And every time I smiled at the Italian waiters, I knew, I felt this incredible feeling like… everything was alright, simply perfect.

To the Next Pink Tutu Chapter

Well, darling, I have a date with destiny! It's off to sunny Spain, to explore its charm. Don’t worry, my blog will still be here, with new stories, pictures of course, and, hopefully, more pink tutus! But, this time I'll be swapping my boots for ballet slippers and my tulle skirt for a bright yellow flamenco skirt! I think it’ll look pretty lovely, especially paired with a pink ballet shoe!

Until then, be kind to yourselves, and wear your pink tutus loud and proud! You all have a fabulous, dancing, pink tutu week. I’ll catch you on the other side of this great, big world…until Monday!

Always,

Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
