Pink Tutu Milan #841: Wednesday, 20th July 2011
Ciao bellas! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad travel blogger, back from the beautiful city of Milan with another post for your Wednesday indulgence! It's been a whirlwind of fashion, food, and fabulous ballet – all whilst wearing my trusty pink tutu, of course! This week, we're exploring the magic of Milan and what better place to do that than in the heart of the city's cultural scene?
Today I started my day with a trip on the Milan Metro - those electric trams are a sight to behold! I must admit, even on a bustling Tuesday morning, they somehow exude a certain kind of elegant charm. Who knew trams could be stylish? Maybe they should bring back those classic vintage ones we had back home in Derbyshire!
My ultimate destination? A little shop I've had my eye on for ages, a place filled with vintage treasures, delicate lace, and stunning fabrics - a haven for my tutu-loving soul. The name escapes me right now, but trust me, I'll be sharing all the details with you next week! Let's just say, my pink tutu collection is about to get a delightful little upgrade, thanks to some magnificent material I managed to snag today!
Later this afternoon, it was time for a real treat. A show at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan's famed opera house. Oh, the grandeur! The magnificent chandeliers, the plush red velvet seats, the buzzing energy - I practically felt my ballet heart soaring! I've been fortunate enough to perform in a few local Derbyshire theatre groups and I've been dreaming of taking a big leap (excuse the pun!) and appearing in a production like this. Tonight, though, I was here as a fan, lost in the beauty of "La Traviata."
It was such a phenomenal experience - the dramatic scenes, the passionate vocals, and the breathtaking choreography. My tutu felt completely at home amongst the grandeur of the theatre and I honestly believe that the opera truly enhanced the pink tutu experience! Just imagine – "La Traviata" and a pink tutu, what a magical combination!
While my ballet brain is still reeling from the splendour of "La Traviata," I need to mention the after-party. Yes, the after-party! The theatre transformed into a whirlwind of fashion and chatter - an exclusive Milanese gathering with people from all walks of life, from opera lovers to fashionistas. As you can imagine, this is right up my street - fashion and ballet? It’s a match made in heaven!
Now, if you've been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I adore the finer things in life – think exquisite clothes, mouthwatering desserts, and, of course, my pink tutu. So, naturally, after the opera, we made a pit stop for some post-show indulgence. The restaurant was tucked away in a cobbled back street, adorned with twinkling fairy lights, and buzzing with the energy of a busy Thursday evening. Oh, how I love the vibrancy of Italian nightlife!
We savored the finest Italian cuisine, from succulent pizzas to the most divine Tiramisu I've ever had in my life. And of course, my trusty pink tutu remained in place throughout the evening, creating a little pocket of colour amidst the hustle and bustle of this bustling Milanese gathering.
And here comes my secret to achieving your wildest dreams - ballet, you see, it's not just a dance! It's a pathway to travel the world and experience amazing things. By performing at local ballet events, I am funding my trips, allowing me to discover incredible places like this magnificent city.
This whole experience has been utterly fantastic! But now it’s time to catch my train home to a cosy bed, with the memories of my fabulous pink tutu-clad adventures buzzing in my mind. So, remember bellas, embrace the magic, believe in yourself and always, always wear a pink tutu! It might be the secret weapon you're looking for.
Keep twirling! Emma x www.pink-tutu.com
