Pink Tutu Milan - Post #840: Wednesday 2011-07-13: A Week of Pink Perfection!

Ciao, darlings!

It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, reporting live from the fashion capital of the world, Milano! This week has been a whirlwind of tutus, trains, and triumph – and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I know you love to see pictures, so let's get right to it! I kicked off the week in style – a stunning pink satin tutu, complete with hand-sewn pink pearl embellishments. It was the perfect ensemble for a whirlwind morning exploring the bustling streets of Milan.

And did I mention it was absolutely glorious sunshine? A perfect day for a bit of "tutu tourism," if you will. I love exploring new cities, discovering charming little cafes, and snapping photos of every colourful corner – and this week, I found a real gem of a spot tucked away on a narrow, cobblestone lane: La Rosa Cafe! They served the most divine espresso with little pink macarons, and I felt like a character straight out of a whimsical Italian fairytale.

The Thrill of the Train

Speaking of whimsy, I've been embracing the beauty of travel – and the magic of the train! The tram network here is simply divine! There's nothing quite like hopping on a rickety old tram with your pink tutu rustling against the old leather seats – and feeling the rhythm of the city pulse around you. It's an experience that brings together fashion, history, and the magic of public transport!

And this week, the journey became even more extraordinary, as I caught the high-speed train to the magical city of Florence for the Balletto Fiorentino’s production of “La Sylphide”! Oh my goodness, it was spectacular! The dancing was exquisite, and the story of the enchanted fairy was so enchanting – it was a complete escape! My pink tulle tutus were simply the perfect accompaniment to the beautiful story of the graceful sylph – I was practically dancing in my seat!

Fashion Forward

Of course, I had to make some time for my favourite activity: SHOPPING! Milano is a haven for fashionistas – so it's no surprise I found myself exploring the chic boutiques and glamorous shops. I snagged a pair of ruby-red pumps and a silk scarf with delicate rose patterns – all perfectly on-theme with my love of pink and my current Italian mood. I know what you’re thinking – how does she afford it? Well, remember my trusty tutu – it brings me extra shillings, and helps me to pay for all these extravagant trips and purchases. My friends think I'm crazy – but for me, every journey, every dance, every show, every new tutu, every pretty outfit is a journey in the pursuit of happiness.

A Feast for the Eyes

This week, the Milan Teatro was buzzing with the excitement of the Gala dei Balli del Mondo - a fantastic display of international dance styles from all over the world. It was an exhilarating experience that reinforced just how much I love the art of dance – every intricate move, every captivating story, every breathtaking moment was a celebration of the human spirit.

The whole week has been such a whirlwind! I can’t believe how much fun I had. I spent every minute I could enjoying the glorious food – you just have to try the arancini (little fried rice balls!) They were so tasty! It really is the perfect way to finish off an evening spent dancing or shopping in this amazing city.

My Love Letter to You!

But don't worry, I haven’t forgotten you, my dear readers! As always, my mission is to share my love of tutus and inspire you to embrace your inner ballerina. Whether you're on the other side of the world, in Derbyshire where I’m from, or in a vibrant city like Milan – I truly believe there's a pink tutu out there for every one of you. And if there's one thing I’ve learned this week, it’s that it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing – as long as you embrace it with your own unique style and flair!

Don’t forget – my blog will be back next Monday with even more fashion and adventure. Until then, stay inspired, stay sassy, and keep on twirling!

Yours in Pink, Emma x
