Ciao bellas! It’s your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, and I'm back from a whirlwind week in Milan, Italy! I can't tell you how much I love this city, the energy, the fashion, the food...oh, and did I mention the amazing tram rides? There’s just something magical about zipping through the bustling streets with the wind in your hair. And, of course, no trip to Milan is complete without a dose of pink tutus - wouldn't be me if I wasn't wearing them everywhere!

A Touch of Elegance at the Teatro alla Scala
Oh my, what a breathtaking experience! It simply doesn’t get any grander than the Teatro alla Scala. From the intricate details of the architecture to the hush that descends over the theatre moments before the curtain rises, I was in absolute awe. The magic was simply palpable! The ballet itself was “Giselle,” and it was everything I’d dreamed of – stunning costumes, masterful storytelling, and breathtaking dance sequences. Honestly, I nearly shed a tear at the final curtain. It’s experiences like this that really make me appreciate the power and beauty of ballet.
A Slice of Milanese Life on the Tram
There's just something magical about public transport in Milan. Perhaps it’s the mix of grand buildings gliding by the window or the friendly chatter amongst the passengers, but it always puts me in a happy mood. I had to wear my most glamorous pink tutu to capture the attention of the locals, obviously! It definitely added a bit of whimsy to the commute, and I loved watching people smile at my colourful creation. One thing’s for sure, tutus bring out the best in people. Even if you have to pack them in a rucksack on public transport, you gotta do what you gotta do!
Fashionista Inspiration at The Duomo
My love for all things stylish knows no bounds, so a visit to Milan’s fashion capital is a must. And believe me, it's as impressive as it sounds! Just wandering around the chic streets feels like you're in a fairytale of fabulous clothing stores. But my absolute highlight was seeing the incredible Duomo – it’s just a stunning architectural marvel. My pink tutu was certainly making waves as I strolled through the squares, but I definitely toned down the pink around the cathedral itself, a little pink goes a long way, you know!
Pink Tutu in Action - Street Performer's Delight!
A trip to Milan isn't complete without indulging in a little street performance action! The city truly comes alive in the evening when performers from all walks of life come together to entertain the locals. I was lucky enough to stumble upon a lively little street ballet performance, and naturally, I couldn’t resist joining in on the fun! My trusty pink tutu went down a storm, as always, with the crowds gathered. The sheer joy on everyone's faces when they see the twirling tutu is priceless! And yes, it even caught the attention of a few paparazzi - the Milanese life does seem to have a certain captivating charm, no doubt fuelled by the magic of pink tutus!
Dining with Delight: Food, Fashion and Fun
Let's face it, food is a vital part of the Italian experience. I'm talking about that perfect balance of rich, delectable dishes, paired with mouthwatering aromas that tickle the senses. After my ballet show and the excitement of the street performances, there was no way I could resist indulging in some truly divine Italian pasta - I was absolutely spoilt for choice. Even with all my love for my favourite pink tutu, even my appetite can’t be satisfied with just tutus - although, they do work beautifully when twirling around while tucking into a delightful meal!
Back to Derbyshire, England - with a Milanese Glow
Leaving Milan is always a bittersweet experience. I carry a piece of this magical city with me everywhere I go - the laughter, the glamour, the vibrant culture, and, of course, the countless stylish fashion moments I captured in my heart. I've been dancing my way back home to Derbyshire with a brand new spark in my step, already dreaming about my next adventures and finding new ways to share the joy of my pink tutus with the world. If I can encourage even just one more person to embrace the pink tutu, I’ll feel like my work here is done!
