Pink Tutu Milan #863: Christmas in the City of Lights!

Ciao bellas! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, back from the vibrant streets of Milan, and let me tell you, this week's been absolutely magical!

It's the week leading up to Christmas, and the festive atmosphere is intoxicating. The city is glittering with decorations, from the majestic Duomo adorned with twinkling lights to the chic shops overflowing with baubles and gifts. It's enough to make anyone feel like a child again, and honestly, who wouldn't want a bit of that wonder in their lives?

This week, I was lucky enough to see the most gorgeous ballet performance. The Teatro alla Scala, the jewel of Milan's opera and ballet scene, had put on a captivating rendition of "The Nutcracker". Now, I know what you're thinking – another "Nutcracker"? But trust me, this was a different breed altogether. The costumes were dazzling, the choreography was elegant yet playful, and the entire production just exuded a sense of enchantment. It made my heart sing!

Afterward, I strolled through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a stunning shopping arcade with a glass roof. The festive spirit was alive and well here, with Christmas carols playing in the background and vendors selling artisanal crafts. I even stumbled upon a cute little bakery selling delicate pastries adorned with Christmas-themed frosting. A bit of indulgence never hurt anyone, right?

Speaking of indulgence, I can't resist mentioning my shopping spree! I’ve found some fabulous Christmas gifts for my loved ones – sparkly scarves for my mum, a luxurious leather journal for my best friend, and, of course, a new pair of ballet shoes for me (gotta keep my toes happy!).

Milan, I've fallen in love with you all over again. The combination of exquisite ballet performances, dazzling decorations, and enchanting shopping sprees have made this week truly unforgettable.

My Fashion Finds:

You know I couldn't visit Milan without bringing home a piece of its fashion magic. This time, it's a beautiful silk scarf, a soft blush pink (of course!), adorned with a delicate floral design. I just adore it, and I think it'll go perfectly with my black velvet ballerina skirt for the festive season.

My Milan Diary:

  • Tuesday: A morning spent in class with the most amazing dance instructors. It’s a true pleasure to share my love of ballet with these passionate dancers. We’ve been working on some beautiful choreography for the winter gala performance, which I’m so excited for.
  • Wednesday: After class, I took a trip to the La Scala Museum. This enchanting space holds historical costumes and sets from iconic productions. I fell in love with the vintage ballerinas' tutus, all shimmering with beads and lace. So much inspiration for future tutu creations!
  • Thursday: I joined the “Tutu Tuesday” crowd at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, where we celebrated the holiday spirit with pink tutus and joyous twirls! We spread a bit of magic with a pop-up ballet performance. I always love sharing the magic of dance with others.
  • Friday: Took a leisurely tram ride through the city centre. I love the tram rides here. The windows give such great views of the stunning architecture and street scenes. There is so much charm. I spotted a lovely little pastry shop – La Dolceria – which has become my new favourite place for a hot chocolate with panettone!
  • Saturday: Christmas markets galore! The smell of cinnamon, gingerbread, and roasted nuts is filling the air, and the festive stalls are bustling with excitement. I picked up some handcrafted Christmas ornaments for my little tree.
  • Sunday: Finally, a well-deserved day of rest and reflection. It's a lovely feeling to sit by the window with a cup of warm cocoa, enjoying the soft snowfall that has graced Milan this evening.

Coming Up Next Week:

Next week, I’m venturing into the city of Florence, exploring its historic treasures and immersing myself in its captivating art scene. Florence is known for its fashion scene, especially its leather goods and shoes, so my suitcase is already packed with empty space.

A Reminder for You:

Remember, bellas, don't let anyone tell you you can't wear a pink tutu. It's all about spreading a bit of magic and reminding ourselves of the simple joys of life. So get your pink tutu out and twirl, spin, and celebrate the holiday spirit!

Stay twirling,

Emma xx
