It’s Emma here, writing to you live from Milan, Italy! This week has been a whirlwind of fashion, food, and of course, ballet! As always, my pink tutu has been my constant companion – it's not just a costume, it's a way of life, and in Milan, it truly fits right in!
The magic of Milan
Milan has stolen my heart, this city pulsates with energy and beauty. I’ve spent the last few days flitting around the city, taking in its stunning architecture, popping into charming boutiques for a bit of retail therapy (more on that later!), and exploring hidden piazzas. I love how you can feel history on every corner here. Even the tram rides are an adventure, buzzing through bustling streets with their charming vintage style!
A Parisian Surprise
You won’t believe this… I was sitting in the lovely little bistro by the Duomo (absolutely recommend their strawberry macarons!) when who should walk by but a Parisian ballerina! I swear, it felt like straight out of a ballet scene! We had a lovely chat about the magic of ballet, she even mentioned how she admired my pink tutu, "so daring!" she exclaimed. She said her dance troupe was in Milan for a performance of "Swan Lake" at La Scala! I felt like a true princess, my life in the pink tutu truly is magical!
La Scala: The pinnacle of Italian Opera & Ballet
You already know I love ballet shows! This weekend I finally experienced La Scala – the world-famous opera house! Seeing the iconic venue bathed in golden light, and listening to the majestic sounds of the orchestra, sent shivers down my spine. It was truly breathtaking!
Of course, I wore my pink tutu – a little extra, perhaps? But it fit perfectly in this grand setting! It felt like I’d stepped straight out of a fairytale! I watched an incredible production of "Giselle," it was mesmerising. The costumes, the choreography, the emotions – it all blended into a stunning, ethereal performance. You’ve truly got to add La Scala to your bucket list!
Fashion Spotlight: Milan in bloom!
My suitcase is brimming with amazing finds from Milan! Every shop window seems to hold a new, gorgeous piece! I must tell you about this incredible vintage boutique I found tucked away in a little alley – it felt like Alice going down the rabbit hole, but with chic dresses and glittering accessories. My pink tutu feels quite at home amongst these vintage beauties.
This season in Milan is all about feminine hues, whimsical florals, and of course, plenty of pink! My favourite pick? A stunning coral-coloured silk blouse with intricate lace details - absolutely divine! You know how much I love to blend ballet with fashion, this blouse just screamed “ballerina on holiday!” and of course, I had to pair it with my favourite tulle skirt. My trusty pink tutu? That goes without saying!
Travel Tips
For anyone thinking about a trip to Milan, remember to always pack a pair of comfortable walking shoes! Exploring this city is best done on foot, strolling down its historic lanes and soaking in the ambiance.

I’m already excited for next week, as my dear friend Isabella from Derbyshire is coming to visit. She's a bit of a fashion icon herself – I just know we're going to have the best time shopping and sightseeing. Of course, a ballet performance at the Teatro alla Scala is also in the itinerary – it’s a true must for any aspiring ballerina!
