Oh darling! Fancy meeting you here! Well, this wouldn't be a real Pink Tutu Milan post if I didn't start with a little excitement. Today has been absolute magic - but let's rewind and get you all caught up!
My week's begun in spectacular fashion, much like a brand new, gleaming pair of ballet shoes (the sort you could practically see your reflection in, if you weren't careful!). It all started with a journey I always relish - a breezy, comfy trip by train from lovely, charming Derbyshire, my little slice of England, to Milan! I have a rather lovely little apartment here now, hidden away in a quiet little square tucked amongst cobbled streets, full of those gorgeous Milanese cafes that all always look absolutely divine in the sun. I have to admit, I spend a lot of my time here gazing through the windows, wishing I could just jump into the scenes and join the locals for a proper, long coffee and dolci - which are utterly delightful by the way, you have to try them!
My week so far? Well, it's been a whirlwind of pinks, feathers, and, of course, the ballet! Now, believe me, there are few places more inspiring than Milan for the discerning ballerina. As I step off the train and the bustle of the city wraps around me, I know I'm going to have the most exciting week! Just inhaling the energy of the city is a ballet all its own - I’ve been lucky enough to snag tickets for an absolutely fabulous production at the Teatro alla Scala, you know, one of those really classic ballet shows, that gives you those goosebumps you can’t even describe - oh, my!
A Quick Shopping Update (Because every ballerina loves a bit of fashion!):
You simply cannot leave Milan without popping into some of the fabulous designer stores. The whole city is literally teeming with these incredible little shops, so I’ve been doing some serious browsing. And just yesterday, I fell head over heels for the most gorgeous pink feathered hat. It's like it was made for me! Let me tell you, finding the perfect pink feather for a tutu or your hair is like finding a pearl! (A pink pearl, naturally!) You never quite know what treasures you might unearth - but when you do... oh, you know, it's just sublime!
And let’s not forget the tutus, darlings!
As soon as I set foot in Milan, my trusty old “Find The Best Tutu” app came to life (seriously, it’s my life-saver - check it out!) The whole city seemed to bloom into this rainbow of silk and sequins - and guess who had their pink tutus all prepped and ready! You’re definitely right - this girl! I even found an adorable boutique called ‘Tulle and Tiaras’ just around the corner from my flat - imagine the glee! I couldn’t help myself and snagged a stunning tutu that even I can't even tell you about yet! I can’t let the secret out! You know what it’s like when it comes to your wardrobe and outfits… it’s all part of the mystery - the excitement!
You simply have to come visit!
It is a city that really embraces the artistry of life - everywhere you look there's beauty waiting to be discovered. And let's face it, the magic of Milan really kicks in at night! After a fabulous performance, I decided to hop onto a little tram - the iconic Milan trams that glide around the city and they reminded me so much of a waltzing ballerina - so graceful, so poised, just like a ballerina’s perfect stance! It takes you around corners and through squares with all their ancient charm, their little cafes buzzing with people sipping coffee and just soaking in the Milanese vibe. This city truly understands the elegance of the ‘little things’.
Milan and the Pink Tutu Revolution!
The Italian people definitely get the whole pink tutu vibe - the colours are everywhere. Believe me there are so many vibrant outfits strutting down the streets - a whole kaleidoscope of fashion - that pink, well, it’s simply perfect. Pink is more than just a color, it’s a feeling, a joy, a way of life.
But here’s the thing, this whole ‘pink tutu revolution’ that I’ve got going on is not just about being fabulous, although let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a little ‘fabulous’? No, my dearest fellow ballet enthusiasts, this is a call for us to dance and celebrate the magic that lies within!
Imagine: The entire world, embracing its inner ballerina, twirling around in tutus, celebrating our love for this beautiful, expressive art form - pink, blue, black - whatever makes your heart sing! It’s a revolution of joy, a movement that transcends time and unites us all!
But, enough of the lofty ideas! It’s time for a coffee and a chat with some of my lovely fellow dance enthusiasts - some lovely ladies from London and Germany have contacted me and want to do a little ballerina photoshoot together! The excitement! We'll get a cuppa in one of the cute cafes nearby and maybe a slice of torta, and then we’ll go on an adventure! I love Milan’s incredible old squares - like Teatro alla Scala, it has such an incredible history!
