Pink Tutu Milan #890: A Week of Whimsy in the Fashion Capital! 🩰🇮🇹

Hello my darling dance devotees! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing, travel-obsessed ballerina, back from another whirlwind week in Milan, the city that's stolen my heart (and my credit card!).

This week was all about embracing the Milanese spirit - a fabulous fusion of fashion, art, and a love for life that really resonates with this girl. My latest adventure has been documented, of course, with an overflowing memory card full of glamorous snaps for you, my lovely lot.

So, grab a cuppa (or perhaps a spritzer – we're in Milan, after all!) and settle in as I share my weekly dose of Pink Tutu magic…

Wednesday, 27th June

My trip to Milan kicked off on a Wednesday morning with a thrilling journey across the Channel and the journey down to Milan. A familiar journey for me, the train carriage felt like a haven for daydreams. As the scenery whizzed by, I scribbled away in my notebook, ideas swirling about my next pink tutu designs. I could feel the inspiration buzzing, a mixture of classic Parisian chic and bold Milanese flair!

Upon arriving in Milan, I felt an instant wave of excitement - a kaleidoscope of fashionistas and chic locals rushing around in a joyous whirl. As a girly girl who loves the beauty of colour, Milan never fails to dazzle me. Imagine a catwalk brought to life – that's Milan in a nutshell!

A Taste of Italy, Italian Style!

Of course, my arrival wouldn't be complete without indulging in a taste of Italy – my inner gourmand (and my Instagram feed) needed a satisfying photo-op! My choice? A traditional Italian aperitivo at a charming outdoor café, bathed in the golden afternoon sunshine. I enjoyed a classic Spritz – perfectly chilled prosecco with a dash of Aperol and a splash of soda water. The delectable little nibbles included with it were just the thing to tide me over before dinner!

First Stop – The Shoe Heaven that is Via Montenapoleone!

My favourite part of any trip is always the shopping, and my beloved Milan was about to be spoiled with the most divine dose of retail therapy. First stop? The shoe paradise that is Via Montenapoleone. A real fashionistas' haven, I must admit I felt like I was waltzing through a movie scene. With designer stores spilling out onto the streets, it was the ultimate shopping playground. I couldn't resist adding a new pair of stilettos to my collection, after all, a girl's got to have a few good pairs of heels, right? 👠

Ballerina Power - My First Ballet Class in Milan

You know me, dear readers, dancing is my passion! So naturally, my Milan trip couldn't go without a ballet class. I found a wonderful little studio, just off the bustling streets of the city centre, hidden away amongst cobblestone streets and pretty piazzas.

The class was fantastic. There was an energy in the studio I hadn't experienced in any class before. I’m thinking a little bit of that fiery Italian passion! I could feel myself being pushed, but in a way that felt encouraging and friendly – a perfect balance between professionalism and fun. The ballerina in me couldn't help but revel in the joy of pure movement.

From Tutu to High Tea - A Perfect Afternoon

Feeling refreshed after a ballet class, I treated myself to a luxurious afternoon tea at one of Milan's grandest hotels. Amidst the exquisite floral arrangements and glistening chandeliers, I felt like a fairytale princess (without, of course, losing the pink tutu!). 🧁🍰🥂

The exquisite pastries and savoury bites paired with steaming hot tea made for the perfect afternoon treat, perfect for recharging for an evening at the theatre. And, naturally, I couldn’t resist indulging in a scone (or two!). After all, even ballerinas deserve a little indulgence, right?

Teatro alla Scala – The Opera Under a Thousand Stars

That evening, I stepped into the world of opera with a trip to Teatro alla Scala. This historical venue is known for its stunning acoustics and beautiful interior. It was simply magical – a sensory feast of captivating music, opulent costumes and a stage adorned with a backdrop of thousands of twinkling lights. Even with my heart overflowing with a love for all things ballet, I must confess I fell in love with the elegance and drama of the opera.

As I sipped champagne during the intermission, feeling the energy of the city pulse through my fingertips, I couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty of Milan. It was a feeling I would carry with me, like a piece of its magic, back to my heart.

Back to Reality (But Still Pink!)

The next few days were a whirl of activity – more shopping, another delicious dinner at a tiny hole-in-the-wall pasta joint, and of course, my essential pink tutu stop - a little independent shop brimming with the most delicate pink tutu ribbons imaginable. You just can't get that in England!

From Derbyshire to Milan: A Story of Passion and Dreams

This journey to Milan, as always, reminded me how far a little passion and a lot of determination can take you. From my humble beginnings in Derbyshire, to dancing under the grand chandeliers of Teatro alla Scala - a real girl-next-door moment that proves to me every single time that we all can create the life we dream of.

My biggest wish? That this message of dreams and possibility spreads far and wide – so let's all go out there and chase those dreams with passion, a pink tutu, and a smile! 💕🩰

I hope this glimpse into my Milan adventure has inspired you to embrace a little pink tutu magic in your life!

And, my dear readers, remember – I am back in Milan next week and I’ll be posting a brand new blog post on Monday on www.pink-tutu.com with more tales of Milan. Keep those pink tutus twirling!

Until then, may your life be filled with pink and joy!

Lots of love,

Emma x 💖
