Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday 29th January 2014 - Post #973

Buongiorno from Milan, my darlings! The sun is shining, the air is crisp, and I’m practically bouncing with excitement - Milan never fails to amaze me, and today's adventure was just the tonic for my post-show blues.

Remember that thrilling Romeo & Juliet performance I shared with you last week? The whirlwind of emotion and energy just keeps lingering. But then, that's the magic of ballet, isn't it? It takes hold of your heart and refuses to let go, leaving you wanting more.

Speaking of wanting more, I’ve been on a total shopping spree this week! Milan is a veritable treasure trove of the most incredible fashion - I'm already picturing the outfits I can whip up from my latest finds. You know, I find that there's a real magic to wearing pink. It just seems to make you sparkle brighter, attract all the best vibes, and yes, you guessed it - encourages you to spin like a happy ballerina!

Today, my pink-tutu heart was set on finding a little something for our next dance soirée in Verona - a magnificent ball gown in the most delicate shade of rose. Oh, you'll just love seeing how it transforms me when we perform! But more on that later…

As you know, my love for all things sparkly knows no bounds. It's no surprise that my first stop today was a vintage emporium on Via Montenapoleone. I can’t tell you the joy of digging through boxes of forgotten gems, the thrill of uncovering a piece of sartorial history. Imagine my delight when I found the most exquisite pair of ruby red opera gloves - perfect for a special evening.

After my fashion escapade, it was time to explore the city’s captivating corners. Milan is just teeming with hidden alleyways and vibrant markets. Today, I wandered through the enchanting Mercato Centrale, the aroma of fresh herbs, the chatter of locals, the sight of rows upon rows of delectable cheeses, fruits, and breads - it was a feast for the senses! It's amazing how such a cosmopolitan city like Milan holds onto this raw charm, these traditional elements.

I've already shared with you some of the stunning street art I've discovered in Milan, and today was no different. I found myself charmed by an impressive street art mural that practically screamed for a ballet photo! Imagine my excitement! You see, I just can't resist finding ways to blend my passion for dance and art - it's truly where I feel most alive.

Let me tell you, I do love finding new and innovative ways to dance! And just as my imagination finds its muse in these cobbled streets, it also blossoms within the grandeur of the Teatro alla Scala, Milan's iconic opera house. I was lucky enough to have my heart set ablaze by another incredible performance of "La Traviata." It’s a powerful tale, and the costumes - my word! You would just love them, with feathers and sparkles that seemed to shimmer with every movement!

Speaking of "La Traviata" - it's also a little ode to one of my favorite fashion houses: Dior. The iconic red roses, the beautiful femininity, and that stunning sense of timeless elegance... it's a constant source of inspiration. Oh, how I wish I could slip into a vintage Dior gown for our next dance performance!

The day, much like my wardrobe, was bursting with contrasts and exciting discoveries. It was the perfect reminder that life, just like ballet, is about taking each moment, every leap, every pirouette, with grace, and yes, even a touch of sparkle!

And so, as the evening descended, with a heart full of wonder and a mind buzzing with creative inspiration, I caught a delightful tram ride back to my little studio. It is a peaceful haven for this travelling ballerina, tucked away on the outskirts of this bustling city. The streets have lulled me to a peaceful, almost sleepy, rhythm. But tomorrow, my darlings, I'll be embarking on a new adventure. I can’t quite tell you what it holds - the magic of travelling lies in the element of surprise, doesn't it?

Remember, my dears, always follow your heart, dance your heart out, and wear your pink tutus with pride. I'll be back next week, sharing my adventures with you, one ballet shoe tap at a time!

Until then, stay fabulous and always remember to twirl!

Love,

Emma x
