Pink Tutu Milan: #1010 - Wednesday 15th October 2014

Buongiorno, darlings!

Emma here, reporting live from the fashion capital of the world – Milan, Italia! It's been a whirlwind of a week, and this blog post is packed full of pink tutu magic, a whole lot of culture, and just a dash of Italian flair.

Last week I left you at the magnificent Teatro alla Scala, a haven of artistic brilliance and my favourite place to see a performance. But let's be honest, darlings, the real fun is in the journey. This week, it’s all about a ballet performance in Bergamo – another gorgeous Italian city, just a short train ride away from Milan – a fabulous shopping spree at Corso Buenos Aires and a wander through the breathtaking botanical gardens of the Palazzo Brera.

The Glamour of the Bergamo Teatro Donizetti

You see, when you travel like I do, your whole world becomes about the adventure, about immersing yourself in the local culture, and that includes exploring cities I’ve never been to. This week it’s Bergamo! The journey there was charming, a picturesque train ride through Italian countryside, dappled sunlight through the windows, and friendly locals always ready for a chat (in their wonderful, melodic Italian, of course!).

We arrived at the Teatro Donizetti, a grand, opulent venue, the kind that makes you feel like a princess. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as the lights dimmed, and the curtain rose on an exquisite performance by the Bergamo Ballet.

The Joy of a Good Show

There's just something so special about a live performance, about being part of a shared experience that transcends language and connects us all. The choreography was graceful, the dancers breathtakingly talented, and the emotions – from sheer joy to poignant sadness – spilled over onto the stage in the most powerful way. My tutu twirled with excitement throughout the show!

The Perfect Pink Tutu Moment

The icing on the cake? I had a ‘Pink Tutu’ moment in Bergamo. Walking back to the train station, I was lost in a moment of sheer contentment - the air was alive with laughter, and the Italian sunlight bathed the world in a golden glow. I simply had to strike a pose - one hand on my hip, the other reaching gracefully towards the sky.

"Do you need a photo?” a smiling gentleman asked me in Italian.

"Yes please!” I answered, laughing, feeling a sense of delightful camaraderie in the moment.

A Dash of Milano Shopping

My adventures aren’t all about ballet, darling. A true Pink Tutu fan knows the importance of a good fashion fix, and let's just say Milano has certainly spoiled me for choice. It’s all about discovering beautiful, unusual pieces, things that bring out my inner ballerina – a hint of lace, a shimmer of silk, and, of course, my favourite color - pink.

One of my absolute favourite streets to shop on is Corso Buenos Aires, the beating heart of Milano’s retail world. This time I was on the lookout for a little something to wear to a special ballet evening, and you won't believe what I found - a vintage pink silk blouse, its sheer fabric a dream of delicate elegance, perfect with a sleek black pencil skirt for a little vintage chic. It felt so chic and sophisticated – just the look for my next big night out at the Teatro alla Scala.

Wanderlust in the Botanical Garden

But, of course, I always make time to appreciate the city’s beauty beyond the shopping sprees. On a bright and crisp Wednesday morning, I traded my shopping bags for a picnic basket and took a leisurely stroll through the Palazzo Brera’s breathtaking botanical garden.

The air filled with the scent of herbs and flowers, a sweet melody to my senses. There are just moments, like these, that remind me how special it is to experience different cultures and learn a bit about a new city.

A Few Words on Travel and Tradition

A big part of my travel magic, my darlings, is that I get to see and feel these vibrant cultures unfold. In the heart of Italy, I see the beauty in tradition. From the passion and grace of ballet to the vibrant street art and the warmth of the people, I always feel welcomed and at home. I find a little piece of myself in each place I visit, in the sights and sounds and scents. The rhythm of life, the connection between art, tradition, and culture, makes my heart skip a beat.

Sharing My Adventures With You

And sharing those adventures with you – my amazing Pink Tutu family! - makes all the more special. You are all part of this journey, and I'm so grateful to have your love and support as I explore the world.

Remember, darlings, wear your pink tutus with pride, embrace the joy of the moment, and always believe that you too can create your own magical moments in the most beautiful of places, anywhere in the world!

Until next week, darlings.
