Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday 2014-11-05 - Ciao, Bella!
Hello my darlings! Welcome to Pink Tutu Milan blog post number 1013! As you all know, I post my Milan adventures once a week on a Monday, over at www.pink-tutu.com, but I'm so excited about my adventures in the City of Fashion that I couldn't wait to share this with you. Milan is a beautiful city, and I'm simply smitten! You all know I live for the vibrant colours and styles of Italy, and the fashion and elegance here are just out of this world! It's not just the clothes, darling, the people here are also incredibly chic!
Speaking of chic, just look at my outfit! It's one of my favourite tutus - a luscious lavender number, that, despite the chill in the air, lets me twirl like a flower in a gentle breeze. You can't deny the charm of a pink tutu!
I got here yesterday after a delightful train journey from the Derbyshire Dales - did you know I'm actually from England? My little flat back in Matlock is rather charming but it doesn't hold a candle to the magnificence of the architecture of Milan! As soon as I arrived, I knew I had to check out the Duomo, that stunning masterpiece of Gothic architecture, all the beautiful stained-glass windows, just breathtaking.
But don't get me wrong, darlings! Milan isn't just about cathedrals and historic sights. It's all about the vibrant life! Yesterday afternoon, I strolled around the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. That incredible shopping mall is like a dreamland of marble floors, soaring glass ceilings and the very best of Italian fashion! Oh, and if you ever find yourself at the foot of the statue of the "bull's testicles", you MUST turn three times for good luck. That's a Milan tradition! 😉
After the Galleria, I treated myself to the most decadent pistachio gelato in all of Milan, the perfect end to a delicious day. But of course, a good night's rest was necessary before taking on this glamorous city's fashion scene. Today, I'm off to the Teatro alla Scala, one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world, darling! Imagine the opulence of the décor, the exquisite craftsmanship, the dazzling performances, the glamorous crowd! It simply sends shivers down my spine! It's going to be the perfect start to an unforgettable evening, topped off by a truly remarkable ballet.
But darling, before I head out to that dazzling theatre, let me tell you a little about what I'm most excited about this week!
This Week in Milan: Ballet, Style and Fashionable Delights!
Teatro alla Scala Opera: This Wednesday night, 5th November 2014, I'll be taking my seat for an unforgettable performance at the legendary Teatro alla Scala, right here in Milan. This evening will feature a show called "Cinderella" by the renowned composer, Sergei Prokofiev. Now, I love ballet and I especially love "Cinderella", it's simply magical. I can't wait to be mesmerised by the choreography and transported by the enchanting music. The sheer elegance of this historic theatre promises an incredible evening!
Shopping and Street Style: Milan is known as the Fashion Capital of the World for a reason! Everywhere you look there are gorgeous shop windows, chic boutiques, and the most incredible street style. You wouldn't believe the looks people pull off here! Today, I'm exploring Via Monte Napoleone – the most luxurious shopping street in Milan, if not the whole of Italy! Oh my, I expect I’ll be buying some beautiful additions to my pink tutu wardrobe! This will be an adventure of fashion, I can just tell. It’s so important to dress up and create your own style and I find Milan simply inspirational.
Trams and Treats: Milan's trams are so stylish and efficient! They're just like carriages gliding around the city! I always have a cup of cappuccino with me, the flavour here is absolutely heavenly! A simple pleasure, but it sets the day off perfectly. Speaking of perfect, darling, Milan's cafe culture is one of my absolute favourites! I will be popping into some chic cafe’s for a bit of dolce vita in the coming days, but I have my sights on some pretty spectacular treats.
*Follow me on the tram this week and let’s explore together! *
Fashion Spotlight:Speaking of fashionable finds, I just have to tell you about these new ballet flats I picked up the other day at a charming little boutique just outside the Galleria. They're the most gorgeous pale pink shade, a real princess-like hue!
*Let's be real, there is nothing more glamorous than a pink tutu with pale pink flats! 😉 *
You wouldn't believe the compliments I got on them! Even my new Italian friend, Francesco, had to stop and say “Bella ballerina! You are radiant!”. Francesco, a charming Milanese who is quite the dapper dresser himself, showed me a cute little spot near my hotel where I could find some fantastic vintage pieces for my pink tutu wardrobe! I couldn't be more thrilled!
