Pink Tutu Milan: #1012 - Ciao Bella!

Hello from Milano, darlings! It's Emma, your Pink Tutu princess, signing in from the heart of Italian fashion! It's a gloriously sunny Wednesday morning here in Milano, and the air is filled with the intoxicating scent of freshly baked croissants – I do love the aroma of good Italian food!

This week, I've been flitting about the city, soaking up the incredible energy of this vibrant metropolis. For a girl who loves twirling as much as I do, it's the perfect place to be – think Parisian elegance mixed with the playful zest of New York!

I'm perched at a charming little cafe, overlooking the cobbled streets, sipping my cappuccino and watching the world go by. It's funny, you know, the world looks so different when you’re in a city you don't know – every detail seems intriguing, every passerby becomes an interesting character in a story. And, of course, everyone looks fabulous! Milano, my dear readers, is a fashionista's paradise, so you can imagine how much my girly heart is throbbing. I'm like a little bird who has just flown into a shop full of the most exquisite baubles and trinkets, my little beak just pecking at the beautiful displays!

Tram Travels & Artistic Encounters

As I always say, there’s no better way to discover a new city than by exploring its transport system – and Milano’s trams are a sight to behold! I hopped on one yesterday, all in its vintage glory, and as it rattled and whirred along, I couldn't help but smile at the eclectic mix of people – stylish Milanese ladies with their perfectly coiffed hair, dapper gentlemen sporting impeccably tailored suits, and me, in my bright pink tutu, blending right in (and causing a few smiles, I hope!)

While we're on the topic of things to do, I must share my latest artistic discovery - the stunning "La Scala Theatre," the heart and soul of opera in Milano. Just being in the foyer of this historic theatre was truly breathtaking. I imagined the whispers of history and the laughter of legendary performers filling the halls, and the anticipation of the spectacle to unfold upon the grand stage! The sheer scale and grandeur were simply captivating. I could almost hear the melodies swirling through the air, and picture the graceful ballerinas twirling under the magnificent chandeliers. It’s a place I’ll be returning to for sure, to soak up the magical atmosphere and watch a world-class ballet. I'm already fantasising about the costume and the movements I might learn from the amazing performances!

Tutus, Treats & Traditions

Of course, my wanderlust in Milan wasn’t just limited to art and culture – there had to be some fashion indulging too! Shopping in Milano is an art form in itself, and I’ve found some beautiful pink delights, enough to put even the most discerning tutu enthusiast into a blissful spin! I have my eyes set on a vintage Chanel bag, a vibrant coral silk scarf, and the most glorious pair of fuchsia pink ballerina flats you ever did see – all waiting to join my ever-expanding pink paradise wardrobe! I can already imagine how much fun I'm going to have coordinating them with my new tutus! And while I'm on the subject, my tutu game has been significantly stepped up thanks to a fabulous shop in a cobblestone alleyway. It was filled with vintage lace and sequins, and after carefully scouring the shelves, I snagged myself a bejewelled masterpiece! A dazzling lavender tulle creation, adorned with crystal-studded butterflies, that will undoubtedly cause a stir at the ballet studio back home!

But darling, even amidst the extravagance and indulgence of this amazing city, there is a place for simple pleasures. Every day, I treat myself to a slice of the most delicious margherita pizza, accompanied by a creamy latte. It's pure simple pleasure, you know?

Speaking of traditions, I recently learned that on the 29th of October in Italy, it’s “Halloween”! And guess what?! I can't wait to try some pumpkin spiced latte and a pumpkin tart while I am in Italy. The tradition here is called “Halloween” although the exact date does not coincide with the Halloween celebrations in America. In Milan, the tradition seems more focused on enjoying a tasty treat more so than any spooky celebrations!

I am sure I will be posting lots of pictures of this wonderful trip in the coming days to my Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook pages – be sure to check them out for all the highlights from Pink Tutu Milano!

And with that, it's time to head out. Another day, another adventure awaits. My journey through Milano is just beginning, and I'm certain that this pink princess has lots more adventures and pink delights in store.

Keep twirling!

Lots of love, Emma x
