Pink Tutu Milan #1067 - Ciao Bella!

Wednesday 18th November 2015

Buongiorno from Milan, darlings!

It's Emma here, back in my beloved pink tutu, ready to share my latest adventures from the fashion capital of the world! You might have guessed it – Milan is totally living up to the hype. The shops here are like dreams come true, filled with gorgeous dresses and dazzling accessories, and every café serves the most delicious cappuccinos – what’s not to love?

This week, I’m channeling my inner fashionista with my new fuchsia-coloured tutu, complete with a sparkling, cherry-red ribbon that’s making heads turn wherever I go. I've even found some fabulously pink high heels in a vintage shop - they're my new favourite dance-floor accessory! It feels like I’m right at home here in the city, surrounded by creativity, inspiration and, of course, pink!

Oh, and did I tell you about the most amazing vintage shop I stumbled upon the other day? I’m going to tell you all about it in a separate blog post – it’s just that exciting!

Speaking of exciting things, did you know that Teatro alla Scala is hosting a Romeo & Juliet performance tonight? I’m totally in love with this iconic opera house – the atmosphere inside is just electric. I’ve already secured tickets and I can hardly contain my excitement. This opera house is an essential part of the cultural heart of Milan, and just sitting inside, surrounded by the history of music and theatre, makes my heart soar.

My love for ballet doesn't stop there – I’m heading to a performance at Teatro Dal Verme tomorrow night. It’s one of those intimate and atmospheric theatres I just adore – perfect for catching an intimate ballet performance with friends, wouldn’t you say? The performance is going to be so incredible. I even treated myself to a stunning, new sequined, pink tulle tutu especially for the occasion, and you can bet it'll be the envy of every ballerina in the audience!

After all this ballet action, I couldn’t resist heading to a fantastic ballet class in a gorgeous studio near the Duomo. It’s an old palazzo with these beautiful arched ceilings and huge windows looking out onto a hidden courtyard – it’s the perfect backdrop for a ballet class, wouldn’t you agree?

Oh, and don’t forget the incredible shopping! Milan is a haven for anyone who loves to indulge in a little retail therapy. I found the most divine little boutique with a whole wall of stunning ballet shoes and tights, just for dancers! It’s been hard resisting everything I see in Milan, but I know there will be so many amazing things to buy when I return home!

To fund all these adventures, I’m performing in a couple of shows in this magical city. I’ll be dancing to my heart’s content at a fundraising gala on Friday, then performing on Saturday at a charity ball. The people here love a good dance and, thankfully, love the sight of a pretty pink tutu!

Life in Milan has been a whirlwind of vibrant colours, fantastic food, incredible ballet and the most beautiful architecture imaginable. The other night, I caught the most magical sunset, a canvas of oranges, pinks and yellows – it felt like a scene from a fairytale!

Today, I’m going to take the tram down to Piazza dei Mercanti – a gorgeous, old square just a stone’s throw from Teatro alla Scala. It's the perfect place to pick up some gorgeous souvenirs to take home with me, like maybe a miniature Teatro alla Scala or maybe even some fabulous Milanese designer hats! It's been so inspiring seeing everyone's unique style on the streets of Milan – every day feels like a street fashion show, especially for me, in my signature pink tutu!

If you’re in the mood for some fun, fashionable and fantastically pink adventures, don’t hesitate to follow me on my Milan journey. I'll be posting regularly about my new tutu discoveries, yummy pasta dishes, incredible sights and my upcoming performances. Who knows, maybe you'll even inspire me to wear an even more extravagant outfit than I’m wearing already – I’ve seen some bold fashions in Milan so I need to step it up!

You can catch me each week on my website www.pink-tutu.com and follow my journey as I bring a touch of pink magic to this exciting, cosmopolitan city. Don’t forget to subscribe for regular updates and make sure to follow my Instagram for all the behind-the-scenes action.

Until next week, stay twirling, stay fashionable, and stay pink!

Love, Emma xx
