Buongiorno! It’s Wednesday 16th March, and the sun is shining in Milan! I’ve already been exploring the city’s hidden nooks and crannies – with a bit of tutu-inspired shopping on the way, of course!
A Derbyshire Girl in Milan
Well, you probably guessed from my name – Emma – that I’m not originally from Milan! I'm from a quaint little town called Buxton in Derbyshire, England. You know, the rolling hills, Peak District, quaint cobblestone streets kind of place. A far cry from the stylish Milan streets!
But the journey to Milan was oh-so-lovely. The train trip from Buxton was truly spectacular, with those charming old carriages. I felt like I was starring in my own fairytale! Then arriving in Milan, I couldn’t resist taking a tram. It was like a beautiful ballet itself, with its red leather seats, flashing lights, and the bustling energy of the city. The streets just burst with so much life, and everyone looks so effortlessly stylish!
A Love Affair with TutUs and Performances
It wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Milan post without some ballet! This week, I have a fantastic treat planned: the world-famous Teatro alla Scala – Milan’s grand opera house – is showing La Traviata tonight. I’ve already done some preliminary outfit planning, of course! A pale pink tulle tutu with a delicate ivory lace top seems perfect for this magnificent performance. I can't wait to be enveloped by the grandeur of this incredible building.
Milan, A Shopping Paradise for Tutus & All Things Pretty!
While Milan is well-known for fashion, you’d be surprised to find that ballet attire also plays a central role. So, naturally, shopping in Milan has been an absolute delight. This city is a paradise for everything girly and chic! From beautifully crafted pink tulle to sparkly rhinestones and delicately-designed hair accessories, the stores here are overflowing with inspiration. I'm on the lookout for that perfect accessory that can bring an extra touch of glamor to my outfit for tonight's performance.
Let's Talk Style
While tutus have been my go-to for this trip, it's not always about wearing the tutu! Today, I felt the urge for something a little more casual but equally stylish. I’m absolutely in love with a flowy, bright-pink floral dress I picked up in one of the hidden corners of Milan. The delicate details and the playful vibe of the dress make it so much fun to wear! I love how fashion and dance seem to blend together perfectly in this beautiful city.

Milan is an absolute mecca for the arts. After the Opera tonight, I'm looking forward to visiting the Pinacoteca di Brera tomorrow, a stunning art museum filled with magnificent paintings. I'm always inspired by the beauty of the human form and art – both serve as constant reminders of the delicate beauty in the world!
