Pink Tutu Milan - #1083 - Wednesday, 2016-03-09
Ciao, darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad travel blogger, Emma, back from the fabulous streets of Milan with another blog post, brimming with all the fashion, fun, and, of course, ballet you can shake a sequined slipper at!
This week, I'm skipping through Milan with a little extra spring in my step, having just seen a dazzling performance by the renowned Teatro alla Scala. Oh, my dears, the costumes were divine - like stepping into a fairytale with all the sparkles and flouncy fabrics you could imagine. And the dancing, it simply stole my breath away!
Milan is truly the fashion capital of the world. Every single person I see seems to have an air of elegance, from the effortlessly chic ladies enjoying a cappuccino in a charming little cafe, to the stylish men strutting around in beautifully tailored suits. I even spotted a woman sporting a gorgeous pink feather boa on the tram this morning! I nearly swooned! (Let's face it, I practically always swoon in the face of pink.)
Speaking of pink, did you know I've got a brand new pink tutu just waiting to be worn at my next performance? Oh, how I can't wait!
Ballet and BowsBefore we dive headfirst into the wonders of Milan, let's rewind a little to my ballet adventures. As many of you know, my love of dance fuels everything I do, from choosing the perfect shade of pink lipstick to picking out the ideal tutu for a particular show. And speaking of shows, last week I took a trip to the beautiful Royal Opera House in Covent Garden for a truly spectacular production of Swan Lake. The iconic white tutus and graceful choreography took my breath away.
Now, I know what you might be thinking, "But Emma, you're always talking about shows and performances!" Well, dear readers, I'll never stop celebrating the art of dance. It's a passion that runs so deep, it inspires everything I do.
This week's performance has fuelled my excitement to finally get back on stage. It's almost like an injection of ballet energy coursing through my veins, ready to create the perfect performance, all while sporting my favourite shade of pink, of course! I'm currently preparing for a performance in Derby with a little group called "The Derbyshire Ballet Society" next week. My lovely pink tutu is feeling rather neglected! We are doing a small "Spring" themed show at a local hall for all of our supporters - you'll be able to follow me through all of my shenanigans at the next post.
Shopping Splendour in MilanSpeaking of "sparkles" this leads me nicely onto the shopping haven that is Milan. The city is a shopper's paradise, brimming with chic boutiques, designer labels, and quirky little vintage shops. Today, I spent a delightful afternoon browsing the luxurious designer boutiques along Via Monte Napoleone, admiring the latest trends and coveting exquisite gowns, bejeweled handbags, and even a few pink shoes! (I do try to contain my shopping urges, I really do!). But sometimes, I need a touch of glamour in my life, don't you?
While the big name stores offer eye-catching luxury, I can't resist the charming appeal of the city's hidden vintage gems. There’s something magical about discovering a one-of-a-kind treasure buried amongst piles of forgotten clothes, and let me tell you, Milan doesn't disappoint when it comes to vintage finds. I snagged a beautiful pink silk scarf, just begging to be twirled under a moonlit sky (and let’s not forget my dream about wearing a pink feather boa! Oh, darling, perhaps it is meant to be...).
And for the perfect touch of Milanese glamour, nothing beats the experience of grabbing a delicious gelato with a fellow pink tutu devotee! (We have a silent club, but don't worry, you can join!).
Milanese DelightsApart from shopping and dancing, Milan has so much to offer the curious traveller. On Wednesday, we ventured to the magnificent Castello Sforzesco. It was a truly captivating journey into history, as we strolled through the ancient courtyards and marvelled at the intricate architecture. And while exploring this impressive fortress, I spotted a sweet little café nestled under a picturesque pergola, serving delectable paninis and homemade limoncello, yum! A perfect pitstop for tired legs and thirsty travellers!
Milan, You Have My HeartEvery trip to Milan fills me with wonder, joy, and an overwhelming sense of creativity. From the mesmerizing ballet performances to the delectable food, to the vibrant city that embraces every shade of pink - there's no place quite like Milan.
Fashion Musings - #PinkTutuMilanAs a ballerina, I love exploring fashion in all its forms, and the streets of Milan provide a fascinating platform for watching the latest trends and expressions.
My #PinkTutuMilan Instagram feed this week has been brimming with images from my latest adventures. I love capturing all the little details - a sunbeam reflecting off a delicate tulle skirt, the sparkle of a shoe with a pink embellishment, a street musician serenading a crowd while wearing a pink silk scarf. These small, exquisite moments, sprinkled with a touch of pink, truly capture the magic of this remarkable city.
Oh, darling! I also need to show you the beautiful, pastel pink sunset I saw from my hotel window tonight. Milan has given me the inspiration I need for a new blog series, all about pink and what it represents in my life, but more on that in the coming weeks.
Next Week - A Derbyshire Ballet AdventureStay tuned, darlings! I'm taking you back to my home in Derbyshire for a thrilling peek at a delightful "Spring" ballet performance, where I'm sure I'll have some fun tales of pink, tutu malfunctions, and maybe a little bit of stage fright. Until then, let's keep twirling through life, a touch of pink in our hearts, and a beautiful world at our feet!
Until next time,Emma
