Buongiorno, darlings! ☀️ It’s Emma here, back from a whirlwind of pink-tastic adventures in Milan, Italy. As always, the vibrant streets, charming trams, and impossibly chic boutiques filled me with inspiration. This week’s blog post is all about ballet, of course – I just can't get enough! 😉
Milan is a city that breathes ballet, and I'm absolutely smitten! Just thinking about the grandeur of the Teatro alla Scala gives me shivers. Its stunning architecture, the rich history, the incredible acoustics – pure magic! Oh, and did I mention the unbelievable fashion? Milan is a paradise for any tutu-wearing fashionista, so prepare to be wowed.
But first, let me tell you about my morning. I started with a breakfast of fresh fruit and a cappuccino in my little boutique hotel (which, I might add, had the most darling pink-patterned bedspread!) – a real taste of la dolce vita. Then, I took a lovely tram ride to the city centre. Tram travel, you see, is just a lovely way to see the city. I love the old-fashioned, rattling trams and watching the people go by. It really is all about the journey, darlings, not just the destination. I'm a strong believer in the beauty of everyday things.
Speaking of the journey, I'm so excited to share that this trip is actually being funded by my ballet performances. I know, I know! Dreams do come true! I'm absolutely blessed to be able to pursue my passions and share them with you, my fabulous readers. The other night, I performed in a beautiful theatre in Florence. There's something incredibly moving about performing in front of a live audience – the applause, the energy, the pure joy! You simply have to experience it to understand!
Anyway, back to Milan. This beautiful city really takes the cake when it comes to fashion. Today I found a breathtaking new collection in a little boutique near the Duomo. There were the most exquisite, floaty, chiffon skirts with the most stunning pastel shades – think pistachio green and lavender – oh, my dreams! You know me and pastels - they are absolutely perfect for tutus! I've already snapped some pics for you lovely ladies on my Instagram! Remember, the key to looking fab in a pink tutu? It’s all about finding the perfect accessories. Let's be honest, darling, a good tutu just begs to be accessorised!
Of course, after a day of shopping, nothing could be better than a beautiful ballet performance at the Teatro alla Scala. The sheer brilliance of it all is breathtaking, a world of elegance and artistry that always makes my heart sing! This week, we saw the stunning "La Sylphide". This is my absolute favourite ballet. It tells the tale of a young Scottish lass, James, and his love for the alluring Sylphide. And let me tell you, it was a masterpiece of precision, passion, and grace. Oh, how I love the way the story unfolds with the dance!
This, my lovelies, is the power of ballet - to take you on a journey to other realms and whisk you away from everyday life. But enough about me - how is your week going? - A Ballet Workshop at Teatro alla Scala! I'm SO excited to actually dance on this hallowed stage. You betcha, I'll be in a tutu. Pink, of course. 😊 After the workshop, I'll be meeting with a few dancers for coffee and a little "chitchat" – the Italian ballet world is full of fascinating stories! I can’t wait to find out what it’s really like behind the scenes.

- Opera Night at Teatro alla Scala: The whole week, I’ve been in the mood for something opulent, and this is my ticket! An opera night is the perfect blend of drama, elegance, and music – just divine. The atmosphere is incredible, and the music always sends me soaring! Afterward, I plan to slink off to a swanky cocktail bar for a nightcap. It’s a truly unforgettable experience.

- Shopping Day!: Every fashion-forward lady needs a day dedicated to the exquisite shops of Milan. Today, I plan to explore some of the more eclectic boutiques for inspiration for my next ballet performance outfits, with the aim of taking it to a whole new level of gorgeousness. The latest fashion trend that has caught my eye is "balletcore," – a mix of ballet inspired clothes like turtlenecks, ballet flats, and even tutus – but not those silly little tutu's girls wear for birthday parties, the grown up tutus with ruffles and tulle. You know me, I just have to give it a try!

- A Trip to Lake Como: Now, I wouldn’t want to go all weekend without taking a little breather to appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us. What better way to do it than to head to the breath-takingly scenic Lake Como? Imagine a romantic afternoon spent admiring the pristine turquoise waters and majestic mountains, with a picnic by the lake in a fluffy pink dress. Pure bliss! You can bet your bottom dollar, this gorgeous view will be on my Instagram this week.

You know, sometimes I have to pinch myself. I’m just a regular girl from Derbyshire, but somehow, I ended up living my wildest dream. A lifetime of practicing my plies and pirouettes – and dancing in pink tutus, of course! And now, here I am, sharing my love of ballet and all things pretty and frilly with all of you.
