Pink Tutu Milan - #1098 - 22nd June 2016 🩰🇮🇹
Ciao Bella!
The sun is shining here in Milan and I'm absolutely buzzing to be back in this vibrant city. The cobblestone streets, the bustling markets, the delicious food... there's just something about Milan that gets my heart fluttering like a ballerina en pointe. This is my third trip to Milan this year, and I can already feel the city pulling me in like a gentle pirouette.
You see, I'm here to spread the pink tutu magic, one performance and one Parisian street corner at a time! This week, I'm performing with the Milano Ballet Academy at the Teatro alla Scala. Can you believe it? The legendary Scala! My little heart skipped a beat when they booked me for this prestigious theatre. And, of course, my wardrobe is prepared for the occasion. I'm channeling elegance in a soft pink tutu, complete with a satin ribbon that flows like the silk scarf I spotted in the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II market earlier this morning.
And speaking of fashion... Milan is like a fashion dreamland! I mean, I live for a good outfit. Earlier, I treated myself to a new pair of sparkling flats from a little boutique tucked away on Via Montenapoleone, which is the place to be for high-end fashion. My latest fashion crush? A fabulous blush-coloured trench coat, a classic with a feminine touch that screams, "I'm ready to take on the world!"
Of course, no visit to Milan is complete without indulging in some of the delectable local treats. The Pasticceria Marchesi, that opulent cake shop on Via Sant'Andrea, is my absolute weakness! It's an absolute must-visit for every fashionista and sweet tooth in town! And after that sugar rush, there's nothing better than taking a leisurely stroll along the Navigli, a network of canals brimming with romantic charm and cobbled paths.
This weekend, the whole city will be buzzing with excitement because the Sfilata di Moda, the legendary Milan Fashion Week, kicks off! Talk about a dazzling affair! It's an amazing spectacle that puts fashion in the spotlight. The catwalk will be ablaze with colour, design and, of course, my favourite shade: pink!
Milan is such a vibrant city - every corner you turn brings a new adventure! Today I stumbled across a quaint little square filled with artists selling their work, and I felt inspired. Maybe, just maybe, this is the spark I need to add some street art to my tutu. Imagine me, twirling in a tutu decorated with swirls of pink paint! Oh, the possibilities are endless!
Of course, I'm keeping up with the latest trends in the ballet world too. You might think Milan is all about high fashion and extravagant design, but ballet holds a special place here. There's a raw energy, a passion for dance, a genuine love for the art that seeps into every studio and every theatre. It's a powerful inspiration that's made me crave a good pointe class. Tomorrow morning, I'll be making my way to the Centro Studi Danza in Via Borgogna for some graceful stretching and powerful jumps. It's a joy to find a new studio on each trip, learning new moves and soaking up the atmosphere.
One of my favourite things about travelling is taking public transport. The Milan tram is so beautiful with its polished wood, ornate detailing and panoramic views. The rumble of the tram, the chatter of the locals, and the soft breeze that brushes through my hair as it zips through the streets are simply enchanting. I spend most of my days discovering new spots on foot. Milan has this captivating ability to weave a tapestry of magic with every cobbled street and charming café I encounter.
But there's nothing like exploring new places in style, and that's where my trusty train comes in. I travelled from Derbyshire to Milan by train. The journey took a little over 14 hours, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! It was so peaceful, watching the world blur by from my window seat. My fellow passengers, all of them eager to reach their own destinations, were also so fascinating. Each of them has a story waiting to be told. Sometimes I just sit there, observing their every move, silently listening to their adventures, their hopes and dreams, and even their fears. It's like peeking into their personal lives. I think it’s a secret superpower every traveller has; to connect with complete strangers on this incredible, beautiful journey called life.
I can't wait to share more of my Milan adventures with you. Stay tuned!
Until next week, darling,
Emma 💖🩰🇮🇹
