Pink Tutu Milan - Post #1123 - Wednesday, 14th December 2016

Buongiorno from Milan! It's Emma, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu aficionado, and it's finally Wednesday. Which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Milan post!

This week has been an absolute whirl of fabulousness, so grab a cuppa and a slice of cake, because it's story time.

As I'm sure you all know, I fund my whirlwind globetrotting ballet adventures by performing – a dream come true, really. Last weekend, I had a lovely time back in my native Derbyshire, England. The snow had fallen, creating a magical, wintry landscape. It was truly breathtaking.

After the show, I was back on the train to Milan. As I gazed out at the rapidly changing scenery, my thoughts were a swirling ballet of excitement for this week. Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world, you know, and you simply must join me on my little fashion journey!

Fashion Frenzy: Finding my Perfect Pink Tutus

Every time I visit a new city, I treat myself to some new tutus, or perhaps a little something to go with my collection of sparkly pink shoes! The fun is in the hunt, wouldn't you say? Today, my shopping destination was the fabulous Via Montenapoleone, which is like a dreamland for any fashionista!

Just wandering up and down those stunning streets was a pure delight. Even the shop windows are like miniature works of art. There are countless little boutique shops tucked in amongst the glamorous designers, and that's where I made my discovery. Imagine my delight at finding the most darling shop that's entirely devoted to pink tutus and everything fluffy and pretty. Seriously, you wouldn't believe the colours! Think blush pink, champagne pink, baby pink...all the shades of pink that your heart could desire, and more! They also have all sorts of cute and sparkly hair accessories, perfect for completing the ballet princess look.

I decided to treat myself to a delicate, floral pink tutu. It's one of those ones that looks amazing on its own or paired with an elegant little black dress for a special occasion. Let me know what you think!

Street Ballet and the Heart of Milan

After my shopping adventure, I decided to treat myself to an evening of street ballet. Milan's Duomo, the breathtaking Gothic cathedral in the centre of the city, was adorned in dazzling Christmas lights. This was a magical sight that set the stage for a special treat. As I found a seat in Piazza del Duomo, a group of dancers began performing to a live string quartet. It was like watching a beautiful dream unfold!

The intricate footwork and graceful movements were captivating. The music flowed through the evening air, filling the piazza with joy. As the performers finished, the crowds erupted in applause, and I realised this was not just about the ballet, but about bringing the community together.

You can feel the vibrant energy here, it truly pulses with life! There’s this mix of traditional Italian charm, chic European glamour, and youthful energy that’s infectious.

The Glamour of a Milanese Evening

One of the highlights of my trip this week has to be seeing Giselle at La Scala Opera House. I know, it’s a big deal for a Derbyshire girl like me! I just can't believe I got to experience the breathtaking interior of this famous theatre. Just imagine the sheer size of this grand old lady! Imagine my shock when I realised my own tutus could quite literally fit within the walls of the La Scala foyer! It was truly awe-inspiring.

The performance itself was nothing short of spectacular. I was in awe of the intricate footwork, the beautiful costumes and the pure artistry of the dancers. As Giselle took her final bow, I felt like I was experiencing ballet history, like the very soul of the city was unfolding on that stage.

Don't Forget to Dance:

Don't forget, ballet is for everyone! Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just starting out, a casual observer or a hardcore fan, there’s always something to enjoy and to inspire. My blog, www.pink-tutu.com, is a little corner of the internet for ballet lovers all over the world, to share their stories and to celebrate the magic of this art form. It’s my little way of helping spread the pink tutu love.

So, keep dancing, keep sparkling, and stay tuned for more exciting adventures from Pink Tutu Milan. Next week, we're exploring the city’s many museums, uncovering some hidden treasures and of course, enjoying the incredible culinary scene!

A presto!

Emma
