Pink Tutu Milan: #1151
Wednesday, 2017-06-28
Ciao, darlings!
It's Emma, your pink tutu-loving ballerina, writing to you live from the fashion capital of the world: Milan! I just had to squeeze in a quick post before my ballet class this afternoon - because honestly, who can resist a bit of pink tutu magic, even on a Wednesday?
This week has been a whirlwind of tutus, trains, and amazing experiences. It all began on Monday, when I finally arrived in Milan, having journeyed from the glorious Derbyshire countryside on a super-swift Eurostar. Speaking of trains, did I tell you about my new pink and purple train ticket holder? It’s a complete dream - a total necessity for any well-organised, stylish, tutu-wearing traveller!
Fashion and Glamour
My first day in Milan, after settling into my beautiful pink-themed hotel room (yes, really! They actually had pink roses and a pink duvet!), I headed straight to the Via della Spiga. This street is an absolute dream for anyone who loves high fashion - all the chic boutiques and designer stores lining the elegant pavement, just begging you to explore their treasure troves of exquisite fashion.
The shop window displays were a masterpiece of colours, textures, and creativity - the ultimate art form of fashion. I found myself mesmerised by a dress in the window of Versace - it was a beautiful blend of emerald green and gold, shimmering like a thousand stars under the Italian sun. You just know it would look absolutely fabulous paired with a vibrant pink tutu, wouldn’t it?
As I wandered around the luxurious boutiques, my inner ballerina couldn't help but get a little bit inspired. It wasn't just the clothes; it was the whole atmosphere - the sense of artistry and meticulous design. I feel a ballet routine coming on, maybe something with flowing tutus and lots of beautiful arm movements, like a gentle dance through a fashion runway… Hmm, maybe I'll practice it in the studio today!
Teatro alla Scala: A Dance Dream Come True
On Tuesday, I had a date with destiny – the iconic Teatro alla Scala! This incredible venue is steeped in history and legendary for its exceptional opera and ballet productions. Stepping inside, you’re transported to another era - elegant chandeliers dripping with crystal, velvet-draped balconies, and a stage that seems to vibrate with the sheer force of artistic talent.
I had a seat right near the stage and got a truly amazing view of the dancers in "Giselle." Oh my word, the skill, the passion, the artistry - I was utterly captivated. There's something truly magical about seeing ballet live - the energy and passion just spills over into the audience, filling you with this pure sense of awe.
And the costumes - oh, the costumes! The women's tutus were classic yet elegant, while the male dancers had such fantastic detail and flowing fabric - so incredibly expressive! It's no wonder why this theatre has been the heart of Milan's artistic scene for so many centuries. I think every ballerina, every fashionista, and every dream-chaser should come here at least once in their lives.
Tram Ride Romance
On my way back from the opera, I took a classic Milan tram. These vintage vehicles have this lovely charm and nostalgic feeling. It’s also such a delightful way to explore the city and get a true sense of the local vibe. As the tram trundled along, I felt this wonderful sense of peaceful anticipation - like something amazing was waiting just around the corner.
Which it was, of course! Right next to my stop was a tiny vintage clothes shop, packed to the rafters with quirky delights. And wouldn't you know it, the shopkeeper was wearing the most wonderful pink feather boa. "Where did you get that?!" I gasped, entranced.
"It’s a vintage find," she smiled. "I adore the colours - like the sunrise on a summer day, don't you think?"
And there you have it - a perfect encapsulation of the Italian spirit, just like that! Even a seemingly small detail like a pink feather boa holds so much significance and beauty in their eyes. They just appreciate the little things in life and celebrate the uniqueness of it all.
Ballet Class: Feeling the Energy
So here I am, in Milan's vibrant ballet studio. This one is really special, located in a gorgeous, renovated building in the heart of the city. The high ceilings, bright light, and beautifully polished wooden floor make the studio feel almost magical, a place where dreams take flight!
My teacher is a beautiful and gracious woman named Serena. She exudes such grace and energy, inspiring you to tap into your inner ballerina. As I stand among the other dancers, warming up our muscles with those familiar barre exercises, I can already feel that something special is happening today. This class feels infused with an exciting creative energy, like we're about to take flight together and create something truly beautiful.
I can’t wait to explore Milan further tomorrow and find more incredible vintage boutiques, delicious gelato, and more captivating dance performances. Oh, and maybe I'll try that new ballet routine in a pink tutu... you know, just to celebrate being in the most vibrant and fashionable city in the world.
See you back here next week!
Emma
