Ciao Bella! Well here I am again, this week I’ve been whisked away to the fashion capital of the world: Milan, a city of culture and a haven for dance, fashion and… pink tutus!
It’s been a whirl-wind few days. I landed at Milan Linate airport and straight away the stylish Italians got my attention! Milan truly lives up to its reputation for flair and sophistication. I love the elegance, it’s something special! Everything feels so much chicer here! I am especially enjoying seeing so many stunning ballet shoes! You know what they say… every dancer has her heart in Milan!
You all know how much I love trams, they’re so practical and I was delighted when the driver on my very first journey told me all about a ballet show at La Scala, he loved to tell me all about Milan’s passion for the dance! He gave me a cheeky smile, the Italians certainly do have charisma!
The first few days have been a bit of a blur of culture and shopping and some amazing sightseeing. Oh the fashion! Milan really knows how to dress up! And the architecture... I was practically dancing through the streets of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, so full of history and character, and then on to Teatro alla Scala, I mean wow! What a building! I’ve spent the last few days in my very pinkest tutu, admiring the street fashionistas and doing a little window shopping… of course I couldn’t leave without some gorgeous ballet shoes and a little pink hat!
Now for the part you’ve all been waiting for! The ballet show…
I finally made it to La Scala, a legendary venue. It was almost like stepping back in time! And of course, a Pink Tutu had to be seen! From the ornate ceilings to the plush velvet seats, this theatre oozed elegance.
I got a wonderful programme and was delighted to find a ballet poster in the pinkest pink to add to my ever growing collection, it's all for the love of dance.
It was magical watching the dancers move effortlessly and gracefully. The precision, the strength and passion… It left me spellbound. The atmosphere, the excitement from the audience… I could practically feel the passion pulsing in the air!
But my favourite bit of all, had to be when a ballerina wore a tutu that looked so very similar to my own. Oh I did love her performance. It had that magic, that something special, that leaves you wondering… perhaps everyone can achieve their dreams with enough practice?
A little later in the day, I found myself right by the iconic Duomo. It’s majestic, it just makes your jaw drop. Oh I so loved getting that selfie. I really felt like a glamorous Pink Tutu queen.
As the evening began to settle in, I discovered a local bakery, where I enjoyed the most amazing coffee and a traditional Panettone. It was divine. Of course, I picked up a pink ballet themed cake, perfect to indulge in before my next adventure! After all, everyone needs a little sugar rush to fuel their dancing.
This City of Dance…
And this is just the start of my Milan adventure. But don't think I've just been spending my time shopping and indulging, Oh no! I’ve managed to fit in some amazing street dance performances! This city is overflowing with amazing street art too, perfect for my instagram feed. I’ve also got plans for the Duomo, and of course a ballet class. I mean a ballet trip to Milan without a ballet class? Simply unthinkable!
I can't wait to show you what I get up to! And who knows, perhaps a pink tutu revolution is about to take place in Milan...?!

*Be sure to pack your Pink Tutu! * Milan has many fashion-savvy citizens, and my experience so far has taught me that they appreciate the flair! Oh, and of course don’t forget the shoes!
Treat yourself to a coffee in a beautiful, historical café: Soaking up the culture while savouring a rich espresso? Now that’s the way to experience the elegance and charm of Milan.
