Pink Tutu Milan: #1169 – Ciao Bella, Milan!

Well, hello my darling dears! It's Emma here, bringing you a brand-spanking-new Pink Tutu Milan blog post direct from the fabulous fashion capital of Italy. Let's be honest, you don't get much more "La Dolce Vita" than this. I'm whipping up a little blog magic on a gloriously crisp autumn morning, my window looking out on the iconic Duomo – and of course, rocking my signature pink tutu, which is simply made for this enchanting city. (If I can dream it, I can tutu it!).

Today's Milan adventures are all about a thrilling combination of classical ballet, street style shopping, and that breathtaking cathedral everyone's always snapping. You know, the Duomo, with its incredible Gothic architecture? We'll be doing a little sightseeing, too, because when in Rome, you just have to explore, right? Or Milan, for that matter...

A Dancer's Dream Come True:

Firstly, we're talking Teatro alla Scala, the famous Milan Opera House – I dreamt of stepping inside this iconic venue for years, ever since I was a tiny ballerina in Derbyshire. It was one of those places that just filled me with that exhilarating mix of anticipation and awe – a sort of dancer's holy grail. It is just as stunning as I'd imagined. You can actually feel the magic hanging in the air!

But the true excitement began before the show even started, my darlings! I'd spent the day on the most wonderful mission – scouring Milan's vintage fashion boutiques for the perfect outfit to compliment a ballet night. I am talking the perfect sparkle. After much tut-tut-tutting and rummaging, I unearthed a silk burgundy dress – absolutely divine!

The ballet performance itself was... well, breathtaking is too weak a word! Let's just say my inner dancer cried tears of joy! It was "Swan Lake," which means passionate storytelling with a beautiful score and amazing artistry. I loved how the ballet company showcased both power and grace with flawless technique – a real treat! The sheer magic of live dance just filled my soul! It's the perfect reminder of how movement can tell a thousand tales and move your heart in so many different ways.

Taking a Spin Around Milan:

After my "Swan Lake" journey, I was buzzing with the energy of the show – and frankly, starving! My solution: a quick detour to the most delectable bakery in the world, where I succumbed to an adorable pistachio and cherry pastry with a cup of hot chocolate (because you can never have too much pink!). Then it was time to lose myself in the intoxicating atmosphere of the city centre. I am a girl who loves to walk – just feeling the wind in my hair and taking it all in.

I felt like I was floating through Milan on a cloud of glitter, with the city’s iconic monuments whispering their stories to me – I’m totally smitten with this enchanting metropolis! (That's just my girly romantic nature...and a hint of that tutu magic, of course). But I also loved watching the vibrant energy of Milan unfold before me, the people, the laughter, and the style – there's a real joy in the Italian zest for life.

And let's face it, Milan knows how to dress up! The chicest locals were strutting around with a captivating effortless grace that only Italians can achieve. Think statement jewellery, gorgeous handbags, exquisite fabrics and vibrant colour combinations - all perfectly pulled together in a truly captivating style. My camera was working overtime that afternoon – because this, darlings, is where style inspiration happens.

My Personal Milan Highlights:

Here’s what made my heart flutter:

  • Milanese Chic: I am totally in awe of how this city pulls off casual chic - they have an irresistibly stylish swagger that I absolutely adore.
  • Scintillating Shopping: I am utterly addicted to Milan's stunning fashion boutiques, which have a unique aura – kind of like a dream for a little girl who adores ballerinas! There’s just this incredible vibrancy and sense of creativity that radiates from the collections. (Hint, hint - I picked up the perfect sequin top for my next ballet recital, naturally!).
  • That Heavenly Food: You already know that good food and laughter are essential to my soul! Milan truly lives up to its reputation – with exquisite flavours and mouth-watering treats that just fill you with that life-affirming feeling of pure contentment! I recommend you grab some local artisan bread, indulge in an Italian cappuccino, and never say no to a piece of freshly-baked cannoli. You’ll thank me later!
  • Getting Lost In Beauty: Milan simply glows. Its ancient buildings and vibrant streets, bustling squares, and breathtaking cathedral leave me mesmerized.

A Glimpse of What’s Next:

Next week, my dears, we are embarking on a very special pink adventure to one of the most charming towns just outside of Milan – I’ll be whispering more about the exact location soon (shh, it’s a surprise for now!), and sharing with you how I am planning to make it as utterly magical as possible, filled with pretty places to explore, and of course, some of the most stunning vintage clothes you've ever seen. I’m already daydreaming about the perfectly fitting tutu that I have waiting for me in my travel bag.

So stay tuned, darling dears, because Pink Tutu Milan is about to get really exciting.

With sparkly love,

Emma x

P.S If you ever find yourself in Milan, don't forget to take a trip on a tram to explore the different neighborhoods and soak up the city vibes! I just love those classic, yellow trams – so reminiscent of those vintage postcards, you know? Plus, they add such a nostalgic charm to any adventure. And, you might even see a pink tutu gliding through the city... (It's the little pink magic I add to everything.)

P.P.S My favourite places in Milan include the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the spectacular glass-vaulted shopping arcade near the Duomo. I often grab a coffee (it’s a ritual for me) with a front-row view of its grandeur. Then I head over to Brera, an enchantingly atmospheric district filled with cobblestone streets, trendy cafes, and hidden gems. It’s like stepping into a romantic movie. Oh, and I always love spending some time in the Navigli, with its romantic canals and the warmth of that evening vibe. It's one of my favourite spots for an evening stroll under the Milan sky.

P.P.P.S And don't even get me started on the fashion! Oh my, I simply cannot wait to show you my latest haul, including a dazzling sequined skirt that I’m certain is going to make my ballet recitals this month unforgettable. I’ll be posting lots of pictures and details in next week’s post - so stay tuned!
