Pink Tutu Milan: Post #1173 - Wednesday 29th November 2017

Ciao bella!

It's Wednesday in Milano, and let me tell you, the energy here is electric! I'm practically buzzing with excitement because today's adventure takes us straight to the heart of Milan's cultural scene – La Scala! It's a theatre that's steeped in history and considered one of the most famous opera houses in the world. Talk about iconic, right?!

Before we head into the magnificent La Scala though, let's rewind a bit. I woke up feeling oh-so-pink! My beautiful pink tutu (I named her Priscilla, after my favourite ballerina) hung proudly on my wardrobe door. Every day, Priscilla inspires me to live life in full colour, and she looked especially glamorous against the backdrop of my boutique hotel in the heart of Milan. This hotel is truly divine! My window looks out onto a charming cobblestone street, and it's so chic, I almost want to move in!

Breakfast in the courtyard was like stepping into a fairytale, with sparkling fountains, vibrant flowers and delicious Italian pastries. It set the perfect tone for the day ahead, a day filled with ballet, fashion, and exploring Milan’s hidden gems.

After a quick (but glam) makeup and hair routine, I grabbed a gorgeous little red leather bag (a cheeky little purchase from one of the boutiques in the historic district) and set off towards the city. It’s so easy to navigate here - I decided to take a lovely tram ride this morning. I adore trams; they’re such a nostalgic and graceful form of transport. It allowed me to take in the vibrant life of the city – bustling streets lined with shops selling the most incredible handbags, delicious pastry shops wafting tempting aromas of freshly baked bread, and gorgeous old buildings with stories to tell.

Before heading to the heart of the city, I had a lovely time strolling through a park, just admiring the trees changing colour for the autumn season. And it’s pretty magical to witness the warm sun gently caressing the vibrant reds, oranges and yellows of the leaves. It felt so romantic, and perfect for capturing a few whimsical photos to add to my Instagram feed!

Speaking of Instagram, make sure you're following me @PinkTutuEmma – I'm always sharing exclusive photos and updates from my adventures, and I'd love to connect with all of you who love a splash of pink and everything beautiful!

Now, back to the highlight of the day! La Scala! I must admit, it wasn’t just any performance today – it was an unforgettable production of Giselle! I’d dreamed of seeing this masterpiece on stage ever since I was a little girl, so I felt utterly enchanted when the curtain rose, and the world of Giselle came to life. The entire performance was stunning – the dancing was flawless, the costumes were absolutely breathtaking, and the music left me breathless!

To make the whole experience even more magical, I met the sweetest lady named Isabella, who loves ballet and pink tutus just as much as I do! We shared a passion for ballet, fashion and travel. She gave me some great tips about hidden gem boutiques and cafes, and she even gifted me a little pink ballet slipper charm. Such a thoughtful gesture that warmed my heart!

We chatted throughout the intermission and even went to a gorgeous café around the corner, indulging in decadent cakes and discussing all things ballet! We shared our dreams and inspirations, which made this already special experience feel even more meaningful. I adore meeting fellow pink tutu enthusiasts! It's the little moments, the connections we forge through our shared passions, that make this ballet-filled life so incredibly rich and meaningful.

The ballet was utterly magnificent, a visual feast for the soul. It reminded me of the beauty, the emotion, and the pure magic that dance can bring to life. The final scene of Giselle’s ghost dancing with her love brought tears to my eyes; it’s simply so beautiful and full of tragic, yet powerful emotions.

And after a truly memorable performance, there’s just one thing left to do. Of course, you already know what it is… shopping!

This beautiful city offers a paradise for fashion lovers! From luxurious boutiques to quirky little shops with unique vintage pieces, it's all here. I found myself drawn to a small shop called “Chic and Trendy,” which boasted the most charming pink leather handbags. Let’s just say it didn't take me long to find myself a beautiful new addition to my wardrobe! It's the perfect pink companion for all my future ballet adventures, don’t you think?

After another enjoyable tram ride back to the hotel, and a quick stop for some delicious gelato – it has to be tried when in Milan! – I felt incredibly content. I love how this city combines the allure of historic architecture, the vibrancy of modern culture, and a deep love for the arts. And I'm grateful for the incredible experience it has offered, bringing me one step closer to spreading the message of pink tutus and pure joy across the world!

It's been a wonderful day filled with ballet, laughter, new friendships and of course, a dash of pink! But that's not all. I also discovered a hidden gem! You know I can't reveal all the secrets on my blog, but trust me, it was something very special. More about it next week.

Until then, keep twirling, spreading the pink tutu love, and don’t forget to dream big, my lovelies!

Your favourite pink tutu-loving ballerina,

Emma

P.S: For those of you who are curious, there is an abundance of events happening in Milano this week. The most notable include the Milano Fashion Week which runs until December 2nd. The whole city seems to be buzzing with fashion inspiration. It’s quite an experience and something truly unique to witness.

But for me, the real highlight this week is my visit to La Scala! The theatre holds a truly special place in my heart and the whole experience has left me in a joyful, pink-tutu-spinning kind of mood!
