Pink Tutu Milan - Post 1221: Spooktacular Italian Ballet Adventures!

Wednesday, 31st October 2018 - Milan, Italy

Buongiorno from a sun-kissed Milan, my darlings! I've swapped the crisp autumn air of Derbyshire for the vibrant buzz of the Italian fashion capital, and my trusty pink tutu is having a whale of a time exploring all the fabulousness this city has to offer! This week, the thrill of Milanese ballet is mixing with a sprinkle of Halloween fun, and I'm utterly besotted.

I arrived last Sunday, whizzing through the countryside on a super-speedy train, all those dreamy Italian landscapes whizzing past. The thrill of arrival at Milan Centrale was pretty darn epic, too. This city, darling, is so full of life, so stylish, so… dare I say… utterly fabulous.

My trusty pink tutu, it goes without saying, is making a real statement here. Everywhere I go, I get so many compliments. The Italian people have a real eye for the unique and fabulous. A lot of them even try on the tutu. I encourage them all to wear one, of course. Let's spread the pink tutu revolution! It's all about embracing our inner ballerina, feeling confident and powerful, and having fun with fashion.

This week, Milan has been alive with a captivating mix of art, culture and, yes, Halloween magic! The streets are bursting with jack-o-lanterns, ghostly decorations and even a few delightfully mischievous witches (looking rather fabulous in their long, black gowns, I might add). This is what I adore about Italy, they make everything fun. Milanese Halloween is just the right mix of spook and sparkle, all wrapped up in the stunning setting of this fabulous city.

A Dance With Destiny

One of my first stops this week was, of course, the Teatro alla Scala, one of the world's most iconic opera houses. Stepping through those magnificent doors is like being transported into a realm of pure magic. I felt so very, very inspired to pirouette my way into the auditorium, but the "No Tutu Allowed" sign politely stopped me. I thought it would be so much fun to be a tiny, pink-tutu wearing ballerina in a vast, grand space. Oh well, next time perhaps.

Tonight, I'm off to see La Traviata at Teatro alla Scala. I adore this opera. The drama, the passion, the music…it's simply a breathtaking experience. My pink tutu will be ready for this beautiful evening of romance, tragedy, and, yes, tears. This opera truly captures the raw power of emotions in a way few others can, and I’m absolutely certain it's going to be simply magical.

A Whirlwind Of Milanese Adventures:

This week has been a whirlwind of Milanese experiences. I've spent some of the most delicious hours at La Terrazza, an Italian restaurant on top of the Torre Unicredit. Breathtaking views, delicious food… It’s absolutely top of my list of recommendations for anyone visiting Milan. I recommend booking a table with views over the city at sunset, it's just gorgeous. I wore a pale pink, sequined top with a voluminous tutu, a dash of pink blush and pink lipstick… Oh my, the looks of adoration I received, and the envious whispers! "Mamma Mia!", one charming Italian man murmured as he watched me take a big gulp of delicious, Italian bubbly.

A Shopaholic’s Dream:

Milan is a shopaholic’s dream, darlings. Just last week, I walked by the most glorious, stunning boutiques I've ever seen. From Gucci and Versace to Dolce & Gabbana, each one a window of opulent luxury. Of course, I did some window shopping (a LOT of it!), with a few well-chosen purchases of delicate silks and fine accessories that would make a tutu very happy indeed. You’ll have to wait for my next blog post to see my new finds – I know you’re all dying to know.

Tram Ride Tendencies:

Being in Italy, I just have to ride a tram, and this city makes for one fantastic, fun ride! They are such a great way to see the city and all its beauty - it really puts me in the mood for all things stylish. The locals are quite delightful, and I often find myself chatting with fellow passengers who have an infectious energy about Milan. They share their recommendations for everything from the best gelato (it’s true - the Italians make the BEST gelato) to hidden backstreets with the coolest little boutiques. I often do a little dance for them, which is how I often make new friends. It’s always a joy!

The Italian Charm Of Fashion:

Speaking of style, my dearest friends, Milan's fashion scene has totally captured my heart! It's vibrant, bold, and full of unexpected touches. I just love the way Italian women express themselves through fashion - from flawless chic to wild and wonderfully flamboyant. It's a celebration of personality and a joy to observe. It's inspiring me to be even more playful with my own style, incorporating new colours, fabrics, and textures into my outfits.

And as I’m so in love with pink tutus, I encourage my fellow ballerinas, aspiring ballerinas, fashion lovers, and friends who love to have fun with their look… yes, I'm even talking to the gentlemen out there!…. Embrace a little pink tutu in your life. You might surprise yourself at how much joy and style a tutu can add to your day!

Stay Tuned For More Adventures:

So there you have it, darlings! My week in Milan has been a whirlwind of art, ballet, delicious food, stylish shopping, and an unexpected dash of Halloween magic! I can’t wait to share even more fabulous adventures with you next week.

For now, my lovelies, have a beautiful day, spread some joy, don a pink tutu and live life to the fullest. Ciao bella!

Until next Monday,

Emma xx
