Pink Tutu Milan #1254: Ciao Bella from a Pink-tastic Milan!
Wednesday 19th June 2019
Hello my darlings! It's me, your favourite pink tutu-clad globetrotter, Emma, writing to you live from the dazzling city of Milan! This week I'm channeling a chic, Italian energy with my perfectly pink ensemble, which naturally includes my favourite tulle-tastic creation, and is set off by the stunning architecture and bustling life of this stylish city.
The moment I stepped off the train, the air felt electric, vibrant, a symphony of life. From the classic tram rides that snaked through the charming cobbled streets, to the sleek boutiques lining Via Montenapoleone, every corner in Milan pulses with fashion, creativity, and of course, the essential Italian dolce vita!
Speaking of sweet life, my journey began in Derbyshire, a beautiful county in England, filled with quaint villages and rolling hills. But for now, the Derbyshire chill is replaced with Milan's sunny charm. And with the sheer energy radiating off the city, my creative spirit is buzzing, just like my tutu when I'm on pointe!
Before diving into my fabulous Milan escapades, a quick recap of what's going on back home in the world of ballet! There's a new show coming up, "A Midsummer Night's Dream", and I'm ecstatic. We're showcasing some stunning new costumes and a truly mesmerizing set. The production is steeped in magic, which really makes me want to take a little sprinkle of pixie dust and add it to my pink tulle. After all, what’s life without a touch of enchantment, right?
Back to Milan! Today's adventures included a spot of "ballet street", or rather, watching an amazing flash mob performance near the Duomo. They were flawlessly coordinated, their energy captivating, and a joy to witness! A touch of ballet magic injected into Milan’s bustling energy!
The thrill of seeing ballet anywhere and everywhere fuels my soul. From the majestic theaters of Bolshoi, to a spontaneous performance on the street of a new city – it’s about spreading the joy of movement, elegance, and artistic expression, and it’s about connecting with people. It's like, "Hey world, join me in embracing the beauty of ballet!" Maybe one day we'll even see pink tutus on the streets of Milan! A girl can dream, can't she?
Later on, I graced the steps of La Scala Opera House. This is, well, iconic to say the least, and for any dancer or ballet enthusiast, it's a dream come true to visit the "temple" of Italian opera and ballet. Imagine, centuries of dancers and performers taking to this stage! Every brick, every nook, every corner just whispers with tales of theatrical triumphs. Just stepping inside and gazing at the golden ornate details gives me a tingling sense of history.
The magic wasn't over yet! Tonight I ventured into the world of Italian fashion. Shopping! It wouldn't be a Milan visit without dipping into its fabulous fashion scene. From the glitz and glam of Via Montenapoleone to the independent designer boutiques hidden in secret courtyards, this city's fashion sense is a constant inspiration. Of course, my first stop had to be the iconic Prada! It’s a brand that exudes timeless elegance and, like a perfect pink tutu, makes a bold statement. It just calls out, “Wear this with confidence, darling!”
Tomorrow's plan? Well, I'm indulging in a ballet class with some local dancers, who have promised to show me some secrets of Italian style. Imagine! Pink tutu and me in a Milan studio, what a spectacle! I’ll definitely keep you updated on my #PinkTutuMilan adventures with the best ballet moves and, perhaps, a few sartorial lessons, because after all, every day’s a new lesson on embracing the elegance of life!

- White Bodice: Simple, sleek and made for swirling pirouettes!
- Floral Blouse: To keep my upper half in tune with the vibrancy of Milan. It was light and airy, perfect for the sunny city!
- Beige Cardigan: Just in case the Milan breeze decided to bring a chill, but never overshadowing the pink brilliance!
- Black Mary Janes: Elegant, timeless, and added a touch of sharp contrast, creating a wonderful play with my pastel pink tulle.

Daydreaming in Pink with my Ballet InspirationsThis city inspires a “ballet soul” at its core. Every shop window display, with its vibrant colors, graceful lines and delicate embellishments, feels like a scene from a ballet performance. And then, there are those legendary dancers…
Let me take you on a trip through my dream-filled ballet universe, and tell you about those who have inspired me to be the pink-loving ballet aficionado that I am today.
- Natalia Osipova: Oh my, what grace! The fire in her dancing is electrifying! When I saw her perform Giselle at the Bolshoi, the sheer intensity in her movement had my eyes wide with awe! Her style of ballet combines technique and dramatic expression with such incredible energy, a true inspiration to me and all those lucky enough to see her.
- Carlos Acosta: This charismatic dancer is a force of nature on stage! A brilliant artist, he captivates with his mesmerizing movements and effortless style. His role as "Romeo" at the Royal Ballet truly gave me chills! The drama! The power! A reminder of the captivating beauty and storytelling power of ballet.
- Rudolf Nureyev: The king of classical ballet! His passion and boldness made him a legend, and his legacy as a dance legend still resonates today. Even though he passed away years ago, he inspired a generation of dancers with his dedication to the art, and the joy he brought to performance. His performance of "The Dying Swan", one of the most heart-wrenching ballets I’ve ever witnessed! A testament to ballet's expressive power!
- Misty Copeland: A contemporary queen, breaking through boundaries in the ballet world! Misty inspires me with her strength, grace, and a message of never giving up! Her life story and how she climbed the ladder of success in ballet makes my spirit soar. And that signature elegant style of ballet - oh my! It is utterly stunning and definitely encourages me to dance my heart out.
- The Paris Opera Ballet: The elegance of the Corps de ballet! The graceful synchronicity of movement as they transform the stage into a seamless ocean of elegance is mesmerizing. Their precise footwork, fluid hand movements, and the breathtaking visual story that they weave as a unit - oh the artistic precision that shines from them all, a beautiful visual symphony!
Ballet, like my love for tutus and pink, has been a consistent beacon in my life. It inspires, moves and reminds me of the importance of passion, dedication, and artistic expression!
