Pink Tutu Milan: Ciao Bella! 🩰 #1267

Wednesday 18th September 2019

Buongiorno from Milan! The air here is electric, infused with the energy of a thousand buzzing scooters and the melody of chatterboxes swirling around me like a graceful arabesque. This vibrant city is my happy place, a haven for pink tutu dreams come true! It's so good to be back, breathing in the perfume of espresso and marigolds, my pink tutu swishing rhythmically with each stride.

Today's adventure is all about soaking up the sights and sounds of Milan, and of course, experiencing the city's vibrant dance scene! My latest trip was financed by a successful series of performances in Derby, where the audiences were incredibly warm and responsive. That's the beauty of performing, the way it connects with people on such a deep level. It fuels my love for dance and my insatiable desire to see the world through a pink tutu filter!

Before I delve into today's delights, I just have to share the ultimate piece of pink tutu news! It's been a whirlwind week, but I finally found the most spectacular pink feather boa at a vintage shop near the Duomo! It's so fluffy and glorious, I practically fainted! I can't wait to debut it in my next performance, the image of it fluttering as I leap through the air has me buzzing with excitement.

Now, back to our story… the morning kicked off with a delicious cappuccino and croissant (yes, croissants are a thing in Italy, who knew?) in a quaint cafe off the bustling Via Montenapoleone. This is where my pink tutu addiction truly began; the window displays here are like a ballet dream come true! So many exquisite fabrics, silks, and jewels... It's enough to make even the most composed ballerina swoon.

And speaking of swoon-worthy, this week's must-see show is the Teatro alla Scala, the iconic opera house that's been captivating audiences for centuries! I can't wait to experience the majesty of its opulent interiors, the magic of the performance, and hopefully catch a glimpse of a few stylish Italian ballerinas during the interval. You can bet my pink tutu will be front and centre, radiating pure elegance amongst the glittering crowds!

Of course, no trip to Milan is complete without indulging in a spot of window shopping along the Via Dante. From Valentino to Chanel, the array of designer boutiques here is enough to make even a seasoned shopaholic's head spin! I have a secret dream of someday acquiring a pair of custom-made pink tutu pointe shoes... Perhaps I'll let that be my goal for the next few months!

And wouldn't you know it, as luck would have it, there was an open-air ballet performance at a picturesque square near the Navigli canal. Watching talented dancers twirling under the Italian sunshine, their tutus billowing in the warm breeze...pure magic! It's incredible how a simple movement can communicate so much, from emotions to stories, and how dance can create a world of beauty right before your eyes. I was captivated by the artistry, the emotion, and the sheer joy these dancers radiated, and the energy of the audience. This moment reminded me why I love what I do and why my little pink tutu blog feels so important.

Later in the evening, I explored the Navigli canals on a charming gondola ride, gazing at the ancient bridges and historical buildings lining the water's edge. The canals shimmered with the last light of the day, painting the water a fiery orange and casting long shadows across the narrow alleyways. I savored every minute, picturing my own little pink tutu sailing down these same waters in a future show, surrounded by a mesmerized audience.

But no day in Milan can end without a slice of delectable tiramisu at my favourite cafe! The perfect combination of sweetness and bitterness, the flavour truly transcends words! It's an explosion of creamy indulgence with a hint of bitter coffee, the ultimate treat for a weary, but joyful ballerina.

And so, another incredible day in Milan slips away. I’m back in my hotel room now, the twinkle of lights from the Duomo outside my window reminding me that magic truly does exist, particularly in the magical city of Milan. Tomorrow, I’m on the hunt for a vintage ballet costume, perhaps another tutu to add to my ever-growing collection, and of course, a stop at a local flower market is on the agenda for a little dose of fragrant floral inspiration!

Ciao Bella, and keep shining in your own unique pink tutu light! Remember, it’s not about how perfectly you fit into a tutu, it's about letting your own unique radiance shine through! 💖

Milan on the 18th September

I mentioned Teatro alla Scala, a renowned opera house in Milan, but it is worth sharing that it does stage a variety of performances including ballets, so Emma is likely correct in her hopes for a glimpse of professional ballerinas!

A few additional items to consider including:

  • Specific Milan food Emma eats and enjoys.
  • Things Emma can mention in the shopping area like the "Gucci Garden" or the Quadrilatero d'Oro.
  • Milanese architecture mentioned: Emma might describe her enjoyment of certain specific buildings.
  • The Teatro alla Scala ballet (if a ballet was indeed performed on that date).
  • Additional pink tutu details: Was it sparkly, full, or in another unique style?

I've tried to capture Emma's personality and style while staying within the requested length. Let me know if you would like me to expand or modify any aspect of the post. 💖
