Pink Tutu Milan - Post #1268 - Wednesday 2019-09-25

Ciao bella!

It’s Emma here, your resident pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and I'm so excited to share all the wonderful happenings of my week here in the fashion capital of the world: Milan!

Now, let’s talk tutus! This week I have been obsessed with tulle. The most gorgeous shades of pink, lilac, and even a shimmering turquoise tutu I saw in a shop window nearly made me faint. The sheer volume of these exquisite creations was just…divine!

I know I say it every week, but you lot really need to embrace the pink tutu. It’s about time the world learned that tutus aren’t just for the stage. A pink tutu can add a touch of magic and whimsy to absolutely any occasion. Picture it – a pink tutu with a cute denim jacket and knee-high boots for a stroll around the Duomo… oh, how fabulous that would be!

But, my darlings, I digress!

This week has been a whirlwind of culture, fashion, and yes, of course, ballet! I started the week with a divine visit to the Teatro alla Scala, that grand old theatre! Imagine, a building that has seen generations of world-famous performers on its stage. I couldn't help but feel a sense of history as I stepped inside. I mean, just look at the details! It's incredible! The gold, the marble, the intricate carvings… It's like a time machine right there in the middle of Milan!

Speaking of time machines, let's talk about how much I love to travel on the tram! I think I could live on one, you know. Imagine – riding through the busy streets, a cup of coffee in hand, and watching the world go by… The scenery in Milan is fantastic, especially with the charming cobbled streets and pastel coloured buildings. It’s so photogenic, I think I’ll be posting another ten photo sets on my Instagram later!

Fashion Finds!

I love fashion shopping as much as I love ballet, and my, Milan doesn't disappoint. This week I discovered a vintage boutique tucked away on a side street near the Piazza della Repubblica. It's full of beautiful silk scarves, elegant handbags, and…you guessed it… a selection of vintage tutus! Of course, I had to try on a couple. A beautiful dusky pink with floral accents and a fluffy black one with lace details caught my eye, both so charmingly elegant, that they just had to be brought home! Now, how to explain these beauties to my family, I wonder…

Oh, and let’s talk food! I had the best pizza of my life this week! In a tiny, hole-in-the-wall place, near the canal, just off Corso Sempione. Thin, crisp crust with a beautiful smoky char and the perfect balance of flavours - I’m craving it as I write this! They even had a lovely bottle of Prosecco to pair with it - that was such a treat! I wish I’d gotten a photo! Perhaps it can wait for a return trip, who knows?!

Ballet in Milan

My lovely friends at the Teatro alla Scala put on an incredible show this week – Swan Lake! This ballet has to be one of my absolute favourites. You’ve probably heard it a thousand times, but that exquisite, flowing music…and then there’s the story itself, it’s so tragically beautiful! The dancing was sensational. I especially loved the Black Swan pas de deux! So elegant and expressive…I was totally captivated. You know how I love a little bit of romance…the drama of it all, just amazing!

There's nothing like watching skilled dancers translate the beautiful language of ballet. The strength, the grace, the storytelling – it’s pure artistry. Even now, my toes are aching just thinking about the demands of a show like that. They make it look so easy!

Speaking of easy…I was lucky enough to have a private ballet class this week! It was a rare opportunity to work with a renowned teacher from the La Scala Academy. It was a chance to improve my technique and discover some new moves - how fun is that? I must say, I’m feeling pretty confident!

And now, the magic begins…

I have been planning for weeks, so this Saturday, I’ll be leading a very special Pink Tutu Street Performance! I’ve invited some lovely friends from the ballet community to join me, and we'll be performing near the Sforzesco Castle! Think "Swan Lake" meets Milan’s magnificent architecture! I'm thrilled to share our love of dance with the community, spreading a bit of ballet joy wherever we go!

I’m thinking of taking along my newly acquired black tutu! It’ll match my top perfectly and I know my trusty black velvet bow will add the finishing touches to my outfit! What do you think? Shall I give you a preview on my Insta feed? Maybe I can post some rehearsal shots and a sneak peak of what to expect… Stay tuned, darling!

Remember my mission: To get the entire world wearing a pink tutu! That’s my ambition, and I’m sure we can achieve it together! So let’s get out there and twirl with abandon. Who knows what adventures a little pink tulle might bring us?

Until next week, my dears! Don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com every Monday!

Yours in pink,

Emma xxx
