Pink Tutu Milan: Post 1271 - Ciao Bella from Fashion Capital!

It's Wednesday, darlings, and that means it's Pink Tutu Milan time! I'm writing this from a sun-drenched café in the heart of the city, a glass of something sparkly in hand (and of course, my trusty pink tutu in my bag, just in case the opportunity for a spontaneous twirl arises).

Milan - oh Milan! It’s like a ballet of colours and textures, with the rhythm of Vespa scooters adding a whimsical beat. My suitcase (packed to the brim with more fabulous frocks than a vintage boutique) is feeling as excited as I am. I've arrived on a whirlwind of train journeys, leaving the crisp Derbyshire air for the vibrant bustle of Italy.

Now, I wouldn't be a proper ballet enthusiast if I didn't start my Milan adventure with a ballet class, would I? This morning I glided through the doors of a chic studio (the teacher even complimented my tutu!), my pink tulle skirt swirling in graceful pirouettes. I felt so invigorated after, feeling as light and graceful as a ballerina butterfly.

Later, a leisurely wander through the fashion-forward streets of Via della Spiga led me to a stunning little boutique tucked away in an ancient alleyway. The owner, a charming man with twinkling eyes, was delighted to see my pink tutu and promised to make me an outfit fit for a princess – I just can't wait to try it on!

Of course, my love of theatre led me to the Teatro alla Scala this afternoon. A hauntingly beautiful performance of Swan Lake stole my breath away - the grace and power of the dancers, the rich storytelling of the music, and the stunning set design… I’ve got goosebumps just thinking about it! I even had a chat with a lovely ballerina after the show – we talked about everything from pointe shoes to perfecting a graceful arabesque. It's so inspiring to connect with other passionate dancers!

You know what's another beautiful thing about Italy? The trams! They're like moving pieces of art with their vibrant colours and intricate details. I've already had the most magical journey through the city - a symphony of street scenes flashing past my window, a beautiful backdrop to my daydreams about my next ballet performance (spoiler alert: I’m working on a piece based on the history of fashion!).

Tomorrow is all about indulging in the delicious food culture Milan has to offer. Cannoli, pasta, gelato – you name it, I'll be savouring it.

My week will end with a final ballet performance at a local theatre, a mix of classical and contemporary pieces. I've been working hard on perfecting a new routine for the finale, something bold and fun. (Think feathers, sparkle, and lots and lots of pink tulle!).

Before I leave Milan, I need to add something to my collection - maybe a silk scarf adorned with ballet shoes, or perhaps a tiny miniature theatre complete with an impossibly tiny ballerina doll. It’s the little things that bring joy!

It's such a magical city, and I can’t wait to discover its secrets and share them with you. And hey, who knows, maybe even inspire a few more people to don a pink tutu!

Remember to keep your pink tutus close and your spirits high!

See you all next week!
